Other than the name (which causes titters from every visitor to my modest video post-production studio) this is a fantastic device and enormously useful. It does precisely what I want it to do, namely to allow me to mute or dim audio to the main monitors when recording vocals or acoustic instruments. Additionally I'm using it to route audio from a laptop so I can use the studio monitors to watch YouTube, listen to Spotify etc in high quality, without needing a second pair of speakers. I only do one thing or the other at any given time so a simple A/B input is perfect. The mono sum feature is invaluable, as is the mute button. I can't discern any alteration to tone or levels (not saying there is none - but my old ears haven't noticed it).

I have both my studio monitors and my Cambridge Amp with Kef speakers connected to the big knob. This enables me to switch between the two, allowing me to record and master my mix and then switch to the Kefs for checking normal play back. A great feature is having volume control,. This allows me to set the volume on my monitors and just leave them and use the big knob for volume control. Another great feature is being able to mute the speakers, this prevents feedback through the speakers from the microphone. This is a very handy, great piece of kit that every home studio or small recording studio should own. If you don't, my advice would be, to get one. You will not be disappointed.

The problem with powered monitors, I find, is that the volume remains unchanged for longer periods of time leading to ear fatigue after an hour or so. This solves that for me. Situated closer to me than my mixer desk output, I can,and do, change the volume frequently without changing any fader levels. Its unobtrusive, with no change in audio quality and its name is a constant source of amusement... yes I'm fifty going on 15, Great Product.

I bought this item as I wanted to integrate DJ equipment [CDJs & Mixer] into the music production suite in my studio without having to purchase an additional pair of monitors. It works perfectly. The passive circuitry of the Big Knob is clean and hasn't [to my ears] added any unwanted colouration/noise to my signal path - I use UAD Apollo as my audio interface - when switching between audio sources [DJ & Studio]I would highly recommend.

Really has mad such a difference being able to zone in on mono sound and balancing levels with speed. No fiddling with my soundcard anymore.The mute has been great when i need to jump on headphones or powering my soundcard up. (No power pops) and the aux in is great when i dont want power up the soundcard and need to show vocalists something straight from another device. Top product.

Does exactly what it says on the tin with that excellent built-like-a-tank quality you'd expect from a Mackie. (Apart from the faders on their newer mixers!!).I can now switch between my main monitors and a pair of CRAPPY speakers which is such a great way to check my mixes are working properly.

Great piece of kit. Solid build and seriously reassuring quality to the sockets and buttons. Makes a huge difference to the hundreds of small adjustments that are made while mixing.... a kinetic connection to what you're hearing.

I love the big knob, I use it all the time. Especially great for A/B testing on different monitors or for switching between two different inputs/audio interfaces.
