I have long been a fan of Mackie. I run a small media production business and really I am only using this as a glorified patch bay, but it works exactly as I want it. I don't do any live work but I am sure it would perform admirably. I have different mics (and di boxes) permanently cabled up on specific channels, with ballpark optimum settings already dialled in, so when I need to do a quick voiceover, for example, I can set it up really quickly. Same with singers - I can quickly audition a variety of mics, send comfort reverb/eq to a headphone mix, etc. There are perhaps only two improvements I would have liked to see - 1. a second headphone output and 2. selectable 48v phantom power,so that half the channels could be powered while the other half are not. I have some ribbon mics and dynamic mics that do not need/want 48v and these I have to unplug these each time I want to use a device which requires phantom power. It's no big deal and I'm not so lazy that I'm going to complain about it! Other nice to haves would be a clipping indicator per channel and a hi-z channel to allow an electric guitar to be plugged in directly. Of course, these would then make it a more expensive mixer! In summary - great value, built like a tank, versatile, clean preamps. Highly recommended.

Fantastic value for money, with 4 stereo channels it can take the full output of a radio playout system to allow segues and beds to be mixed. Sound quality is good for the price and it seems extremely well built.
