Sometimes the thing you need just lands in your lap, as did this combo bike lock. I've blown through two bike locks -- a key variety that I accidentally threw away the key without remembering what it was for until it was gone, and a combo lock that didn't recognize it's own pre-programmed code and had to be cut off. Both bummed me out and cost more than I wanted to spend in the first place for a bike lock. I rarely leave the bike where it needs to be locked anyway. This lock is certainly adequate, although the cheap, flimsy, plastic clip-on offers no confidence that it will hold up for long without breaking. I really like the weight and sturdiness of the lock itself and using numbers instead of a key.Hopefully, a bike thief won't get lucky and guess my code. The one thing that bothers me is the intense rubber smell is so overpowering that it reeks like an entire tire store. Made me dizzy with an instant headache and pretty sure it killed off some of my brain cells. If you need a bike lock, this one does the trick, but it isn't rated to withstand bolt cutters. The lock is a worthwhile deterrent at best, but I never look at any bike locks as fully secure. Where there's a will, there's always away for a bike thief. But, I wouldn't worry too much about thieves with bolt cutters in hand, depending on where the bike is parked. In my opinion, its as good as any standard bike lock with a sturdier and heavier than usual lock, but a thin cable.

For a basic inexpensive bike lock this is - a basic inexpensive bike lock. For use where a cable lock is more of a deterrent than a strong must have to prevent likely theft, this might not be the best. The cable is strong, the weak link possibly be the connection to the code part, but even so it would take a little work to break that and steal the bike. So, as I said, depends on the likely hood of that happening. The code did set easily, a big plus for any non-key lock like this. The lock comes with a circle attachment to store the lock onto the bike. The attachment of this holder to the bike has screws, however the part to attache the cable is a sliding plastic part with a plastic release button - not the strongest and a bump of the button will release the lock from the holder. This might not be used anyway (easy to just coil the lock around the bike frame when not in use). The cable tightly coils - fussy to attach when locking the bike up, but having it coil tight when not in use is handy and keeps it out of the way. So pros/cons to that. For an inexpensive bike lock, this would be just fine. For that reason, at the price point, I do recommend.

Someone once said that locks were to keep honest people honest - which is to say, if someone really wants to steal your stuff, locks don't do so much. With that in mind, this is adequate for a quick stop at Starbucks or the grocery store on a normal sort of bicycle. I definitely wouldn't trust an expensive bicycle in an urban setting overnight. To be honest, even the most expensive U-locks can now be easily defeated in minutes by a cordless angle grinder with a metal blade. This is our 3rd lock of this type - basically identical to the others. This lock is easy to change the combination on and at first the cable seems a lot thinner, but upon inspection, it has thinner plastic than the other 2,which aren't any stronger, but give the illusion with a much thicker plastic layer. I think I prefer the thinner plastic on the cable since it is more flexible and easier to thread through wheels and the like.

I have owned other locks of this style in the past and I have to say that the quality of this lock feels questionable to me. The clip-on bracket feels cheap and the lock doesn't slide very easily into the bracket. When the lock is snapped into the bracket, the lock doesn't fit very snug so the lock will bounce around a bit if attached to a bike ridding on rough surfaces frequently. The numbers are printed on plastic rings and the mechanism used to set the combination is also made of plastic. The internals of the lock are metal so the lock itself does feel secure when locked. I was able to change the combination rather easily and I do like that feature with this style of lock.I personally would look for something different if I needed to protect an expensive bike but this is still better than nothing and may be a good choice for most considering the price.

This 5-foot bicycle cable lock is easy to set, use and store. It is preset to 4 zeroes. Simply pull the cable from the lock, turn the wheel located at the entrance of the cable 90 degrees clockwise, set the 4 number you want moving them clockwise and turn the knob at the entrance of the cable 90 degrees counterclockwise. Your lock is now set. There is an attachment that you tighten with two screws around the seat bar, handlebars, frame or anywhere you desire to store the lock. You slide the cable mount into the mounting slot until it clicks. Remove it by pushing the release button and sliding the cable out of the mounting box.The cable coils into a small footprint for easy storage and easilyextends to lock your wheel and frame to a bike rack.I love the utility of this simple yet effective bicycle cable lock and think you will too.Enjoy!

There's a few negative reviews about this lock. I did not experience any major problems. For $10, it's going to provide a simple level of protection for your bicycle. It includes a Clip-On bracket for attachment to your frame or seat post.I take an account the price of a product before giving it a rating. It's okay to offer a simple lock as long as you offer it at a cheap price. This qualifies. That's why I'm giving it five stars. The best part about it is that you can reprogram the four digit combination so that you can pick 4 digits that are memorable to you and you're not forced to learn whatever combination to manufacturer gives you.

As far as a pretty cheap bike lock goes, this is actually pretty decent. It's easy to set and reset the combination if needed, and it's a perfect first lock for my six year old's bike. it has a natural twist to it so it wraps around the bike frame nicely when not in use. I'd say for the price *currently under ten dollars* it's a good buy. It's not something I'd trust a more expensive bike with if I lived in a high crime city, but for my little town this will do the job just fine.

Easy to use and comes with mounting brackets for your bike. Cable is coated in protective plastic liner so it won’t scratch your bike. Really easy to use and overall not excessively heavy. This does have some plastic parts on it and I don’t know if it will hold up for a life time, but this is a great “starter” lock. For someone who is just getting a bike or doesn’t ride very often this is a easy to use and not overly expensive lock to have.

This is a cable lock so no casual thief is going to cut it, it would take a serious pair of bolt cutters to cut it. I like the four-digit combination lock that was easy to reset to my personalized code. It is wound up so fits conveniently on the seat pole. My sole issue is one of the two screws/nuts securing the cable to the bicycle when not in use is missing. I recommend this product to securely lock up your bike when not in use.

This is one of those things I'm not sure how to rate. Until it doesn't work and someone steals your bike, you don't know if it works or if people are just honest. It was easy to reset the combination and I just wrap it around the seat pole. I actually have 2 locks because they don't stretch enough to get both wheels and my bike doesn't have a easy release front wheel. So far it works.

Very well made and easy to use. The size is good, but I could have used about another foot. I like to go through both the frame and the front wheel, and this lock is perfect for that, but could use about another foot to make it easier. The mount is easy to use and works well, but I use a little velcro strap just to keep things snug so it doesn't rub against my leg.

Strong lock, very happy with my buy. Its not a steel bar, its a wire and yes they can break it. It a type of lock that should be used to go in and out of a store. Do not leave your bike out side over night with this lock on and dont leave it out when you go to the gym. very common ways to get your bike stolen, it could happen even with a lock that has a steel bar.

This was super easy to setup and change the code. I like the idea of it lugging a huge U lock around but I’m just wondering if this will protect my bike as well as the U lock. I don’t have an expensive bike and I don’t usually lock it up more than an hour, so perhaps it will be fine. A big plus that this will fit in my backpack easily.

This is a good cable combination lock and attaches to a bike. It provides light protection as this is the type of cable that will be easily cut by bike thieves. I got this for my daughters bike since it’s old and probably not a theft target. We also use it to secure other items like the helmets. It is not heavy.

I sometimes ride my bicycle to the park or just ride around my area. I found this lock was useful to store and it was easy to use from the first. The wire was a bit thinner than I expected. I would give 4 out of 5 star because of the wire. Overall, this is a good bicycle cable lock!
