I've just returned from teaching a 2.5 week field camp wearing these boots and feel confident in giving a review singing their praises. This is the most I've spent yet on hiking boots, but I feel it was 100% worth it if you are doing hikes lasting more than 2-3 hours. I wore them every day for 19 days, on hikes as long as 12 miles/day with elevation changes up to 1800 ft across rough trails. I am not an especially fit person, so there was some soreness, but far less than with any other boots I've had. I was delighted to be able to purchase wide hiking boots. They were probably a touch wider than I needed, but quite preferable to boots that are too tight (remember that your feet will swell on long hikes!)In shallow river crossings, I appreciated that I could simply walk across with these waterproof boots, while others on the trips had to balance precariously on logs and stones to keep their feet dry. While deciding whether to buy the boots, I was concerned by other reviews stating it was difficult to get a tight lacing around the ankles. I didn't have this trouble at all (possibly a difference in ankle shape), and found that the 3 loops for laces on the sides of the ankles made it easier to put on and to lace up. I wore these around for 2 days before going on trail, but suspect they would have done well fresh out of the box. I can't vouch for how they perform in cold weather as the lowest temperatures I hiked in were in the upper 40s. The only downside I experienced was that there was limited arch support and I have a tendency for overpronation. This made my arches a little sore on especially rocky hikes. But, overall, I was very happy with my purchase.

I have been wearing various variations of Lowa hiking boots for almost 2 decades and they continue to impress. There was no breaking in period (never has been for any Lowa boots I've worn...how do they DO that?), they offer excellent ankle support, extremely comfortable soles (and I suffer from neuropathy so this huge) and they are waterproof as advertised. I have hiked almost 500 miles in them since June and forded several ankle deep streams without my feet ever getting wet. My feet never sweat in them and they have held up remarkably well considering I don't always treat them as well as I should. I have seen no indication of the bottom separating from the boot as many others have mentioned as a problem. That has happened to all of my previous Lowa's AFTER I've put more than 6,000 miles on them at which point I feel I've gotten my money's worth. I highly recommend these boots and will most likely be ordering a replacement pair in case they stop making this model.

Very very comfortable. Extremely good fit (essential for walking boots) and required no "walking in" e.g. went on 15 mile walk straight out of the box. The lacing system is perfect for me (lacing systems are personal so need trying out first) and the laces seem durable. The sole is quite stiff, which I need due to metatarsal issues, so for me they are perfect and I cannot feel stones/pebbles through the soleplate. They are quite light which again I wanted and for me they are suitable for hill climbing and long walks but not suitable for mountain walking for which I use Han wag tetra's.They have Gore tex linings so are waterproof but the downside is your feet get warm/hot.These are probably the most comfortable walking boots I have owned and I love them (so much so I purchased a second pair to alternate wearing), my only concern is regarding their durability and longevity.I also think they represent good value for money.

Took a gamble on these buying them on the strength of reviews and I wasn't disappointed. I have been using them for a couple of months and use them most days for dog walking sometimes through some very wet muddy fields or long wet grass. So far they have kept my feet dry and are easy to clean. Sizing is good, I average a 5 1/2 in most shoes and 5 1/2 in these fitted perfectly. They are probably the most comfortable walking boots out of the box that I have owned and I thought some of my other ones were pretty good. They are light, the soles are thick and grip well and they are very stylish. Very happy with them so far. They came directly from Germany and I was a bit worried about the cost ofreturning them if they didn't fit but they came complete with instructions for free return.

I was looking for a light, neat and good looking boot that has good sole stiffness and ankle stability which could be worn in rough and wintery conditions - these are the job in all respects! They are close-fitting and on the neat/narrow side in medium width (especially if you wear Injinji toe socks!) but can live with that. The choice of colours is impressive also. These are my go-to boots... and considering purchasing a second pair.I do get blisters very easily but have found these amazingly forgiving as the fit around my narrow heels is so good.Waterproofness is better than any of my other boots although they do benefit from a twice yearly respray. Please don't do away with these boots!!

Bought these for my Daughter who has suffered repeatedly with blisters on long hikes (DofE Bronze & Silver) Just returner from her 4 day Golf practice hike/camp and she’s delighted. Not a blister in sight, very comfortable, not a drop of water seeped through the boots despite pretty woeful weather. Very pleased with their performance and well worth paying the extra money for them - not cheap but it is true, you get what you pay for. Shop around for competitive prices, (Cotswold give a DofE discount of 10/15%) Amazon are always good though - brilliant Customer Service. You won’t regret buying these for sure, particularly 10miles into your hike !

...but with two pairs of socks, they fit fantastically. The sizing chart at the top of the page isn't accurate - there is a warning stated there. My size 8 was 39.5cm, not 38-39. They're quality boots, I can see them lasting a long time. I wore two pairs of socks today - which I'll probably do when out in the field anyway to reduce chafing - and they fit perfectly.I definitely recommend these boots. Wait for them to drop in price - I use camelcamelcamel(dot)com to see how low prices will drop with nearly everything I buy from amazon. These boots will go down to around 150 - I had to wait two months, but I didn't need them right away.

I wanted a pair of lightweight walking boots and decided after a lot of reading "hiking" reviews to buy these. I have undertaken two walks/hikes of 10+ miles and am pleased to announce that so far they are excellent. They are quite light for walking boots, therefore there are some compromises e.g. the sole is not as stiff as some so you will feel stones underfoot. The fit is outstanding and they are very comfortable. They do tend to get warm, but most boots with a Gore-tex do so was to be expected. They appear very well made. Regarding durability only time will tell.N.B. size 9.5UK colour grey/green

Loved these boots, had been wearing North Face for years and the last pair wore out pretty quickly. I needed a good hiking boot for an upcoming Tour du Mont Blanc trek and they needed to be comfortable for long hikes. Did 6 miles one day and 9 the next and the boots felt great and were great for the varied terrain I was on. One note to wearers though lace them all the way up, one of the laces from my right boot caught on the hook of the left boot as I left the top one undone and I suddenly had both boots tied together .... and yes I tripped. The second day I laced them all the way and no problem :).

The shoes are super comfortable and supports your feet really well. The fabric is great quality and so is the workmanship. In spite of seeming to be really massive it feels light to wear. Cannot say any disadvantages of the product. Only thing to pay attention to is the size. I am size 38 and ordered it in size 38 which proved to be too small (especially when you're going to wear it with thick socks for hiking) thus I had to return it. But then I ordered it in size 39 which fit perfectly - both with thin and thick socks. I would definitely buy it again and can recommend it to everyone.

Perfect fit. I have a whiter flatter foot and the shoe worked out really well. I ordered my regular size in a wide and it fits perfectly. I often have trouble with heel lift and blister easily, because I ordered the wide size this is not an issue at all as the boot fits my foot so much better. very light weights comfortable feel. I would have liked to have gotten one of the other fun colors, but getting the boot to fit with my water foot is more important. the stone color is a nice color I just like something a little more dynamic. but in the end it is far more important than color.

I walk on average 6-8 miles everyday in the French countryside so hills, stoney trails and road walking and this is the 4th pair I have purchased...I have pins in both of my feet and these boots still offer me total comfort, the waterproofing could be better but I spray them myself twice a year so they are totally water tight. The first thing to go are in insoles after about 14-16 months. I dread the day this company stops making these boots perfect for both my partner and myself 10 pairs now between us, great product well done LOWA. (LOYALTY DISCOUNT WOULD BE NICE THOUGH?).

I bought a pair of this same boot back around 2000 when we lived on the west coast. This year they gave up the ghost. The ones I had fit well, accommodated new foot beds, and then later my orthotics. So I ordered another pair, I though briefly about calling the company, but really who complains about a 14 year old boot that's walked around the world? The new ones came and the fit was perfect, they are comfortable everywhere. I have very picky feet anything that rubs or wears on my foot is an immediate rejection. I couldn't be happier. Off to trek the earth some more.

Lowa's sizing chart is a bit strange- I'm typically an 8-8.5; by their charts (also using Euro sizing in reference) I am a 7-7.5. And, in comparison of Men's vs Women's US sizing....it's reverse compared to normal. Either know your Lowa size already, or at least use Euro sizing for reference. As for Amazon- the return policy for footwear isn't as straightforward as hoped, and will cost if you want a UPS driver to pick them up. Understandable, but other online companies (that Amazon owns!) are far easier.

Before I bought this boot I did some legwork and tried different sizes in the stores. Therefore, the boot fits as expected.I have not tried it in extreme hiking conditions, but it is comfortable, and waterproof from my experience. It was a replacement of my old Lowa which I used for 15 years. Although bear in mind, I have not used my old boots often.I am very satisfied to use it in cold urban conditions, and in hiking. The communication with the supplier in Germany was also good and delivered quickly.
