I have been waiting to get this game for some time now and there are some good and bad points in it that have made me give it 4 star rather than 5. The graphics for the game I feel are very good, there is detail on the enemy Akrids, and some of the ones you fight are insane, they can be as big as house or even bigger than a skyscraper. Like the first game when you kill them you can gather their thermal energy to help fuel yourself and you also have a "harmonizer" which can be used to regain health by using said thermal energy. The campaign play I have found really enjoyable, the only problem is that a lot of times I have created online games and then "an error" will occur and so end the session,I got so annoyed with this that I turned off the playstation network so I could run it solo and then there were no problems, the AI of your teammates isn't too bad, they will help you perform the needed objectives and will use the thermal energy to regenerate themselves if needed. They do not pick up the weapons scattered about and so you will gernally find ample refills. Will playing the campaign you aquire "career points" which level up your character and once you reach certain levels unlock certain bonuses, I won't list them as it will spoil it. While you go through the levels you can collect boxes which at the end of the chapter you can open which will give you credits and sometimes a bonus emote that you can attach to your character. These credits can be spent in the "slot machine" that can give you bonus weapon upgrades or extra emotes or special abilities. E.g. you can upgrade your machine gun to a sword gun, so you do more damage with melee attacks, you can upgrade your grenades to max level 3 and so they do more damage etc... Some of the emotes you can add to your character are quite funny, e.g. evil laughing, your charcter can do a little dance, you can show you are moody which entails sitting on the ground then a little storm cloud forms over your head. All of these you can use in the campaign mode or online play. Now to the online play, I have found the battles to run smoothly, you can do games such as team elimination, kills, capture the data points. With your character you can customise the colour of his uniforms, you can get a couple of free downloads off the PS network that give you Monster Hunting Armour, you can also change to look like a couple of units out of Killzone 2. There are also map pakc upgrades that can be gained off the PS metwork for a decent price. As you do each battle you gain more career points and so your character is always gaining XP to level up with and you will gain trophies for gaining certain levels.I have had some problems with the campaign online play which I have found very infuriating and so haven't had experience of it yet >_< While trying to connect to games I have had a lot of session ended, or could not connect messages, this may just be bad luck on my part but it has happened approx ten times so far. Then when I have connected the host has ended it, ha! This is my main gripe with the game, therefore only 4 star in all.A nice little extra also is that you can gain passwords to use on the slot machine and you can unlock two more characters to use online, I have gained Wesker from Resident Evil which I find most amusing to have him rumbling round the battles. Another sore point is that with the online battles I seem to die quite quickly while I can sometimes empty an entire clip into another player, this may just be because they are a higher level than me and so have better special abilities, but is very annoying. In all I do recommend this game, as you have read there are good and bad points, but I feel the good points outweigh the bad and so this is a good price to get the game for, and as mentioned you get two free downloads off the PS network which add a bit more fun to the game and the introduction of the slot machine I think is a great idea as you will re-run chapters to gain credits to try and unlock more items. If you want to join someone, add ArkonRhys to your friend list and give a little note in the request. Peace!

For those who dont know, Lost Planet 2 is a 3rd person shooter in which you shoot and kill alot of alien Akrid creatures (and a few pirates). Thats as deep and complicated as it gets to be honest.Ok, the reviews for Lost Planet 2 havn't been brilliant thus far. And all the big critics like Gamespot and IGN have marked this game as a bit of a disapointment. I won't try to tell you this game is perfect because it is far from it. There are a hell of alot of flaws here-1. (my biggest complaint) When you get shot you have to stop whatever your doing... you can still try to manouver out of the way of enemy fire but fighting back becomes tricky. for example,if you were planning on throwing a granade (even if you are halfway through the animation) you will be stopped if shot... when someone is shooting you with a machine gun, this is very VERY irritating, no other shooting games do this to you and theres a reason, SO TAKE NOTE PLEASE CAPCOM!!2. When you get knocked down it can take quite a while to find your feet again. This proves very frustrating when you're fighting enemies that enjoy knocking you over every 2 seconds (IE: almost all of the bosses!)3. The AI for both enemy and ally is increadably stupid and unpredictable at times. One time an enemy could spot you a mile away, on your next try the same enemy may completely ignore you... even at point blank range. Your allies are idiots... they either run ahead and die (repeatedly), get stuck on scenery or refuse to help you with objectives in which they are almost essential. (although this is easily cured if you play online with human teamates)4. THE TRAIN LEVEL. I don't want to spoil anything for you so lets just say that this is the most stupid level in any videogame EVER. (ok, thats harsh. Vampire Rain in its entirety is alot more pathetic)5. Online is unbalenced... whoever gets to their mechs first WILL win on the bigger maps. Although this is less aparent on the smaller maps and in the game type where you capture areas to win. (it also helps if you've mastered the roll dodge)I could list a few more faults, but there aren't any more majour ones to speak of.I actually love this game, despite its flaws. Because it IS fun... you'll have frustrating moments but if you can stick with it despite that, then I think you'll really like it too. The shooting feels satisfying and the guns feel powerfull. This game is really nice to look at, the environments look stunning, as do some of the bosses and enemies. There is great variety in the locations (snow, jungle, desert and factory type environments).Mech suits show up here and there to keep things varied and you'll fight humans as well as aliens to keep you on your toes. This game is brilliant fun both online and in splitscreen co-op (despite the stupidly reduced screen size) and having human partners makes this game alot more playable. The missions seem to be designed with more than one player in mind so if you have friends who want to play then thats the way to go.I know this isn't important to some but this game has trophies to earn aswell so that'll give you extra incentive to explore and master this game properly adding replayabilty.New unlockables with the online mode give great replayability aswell so you won't be wasting your money with a game that takes an only a few hours to complete. So all in all I give this game 4 stars or 8/10. Whichever you prefer really. Thanks for reading!

i may as well start by saying this is the first game i bought for my PS3, and I'm not what you'd call a seasoned veteran of the fast and furious shoot em up type of game.that said, I really enjoy playing the game.there's lots of fast action, lots of cool weaponry, including some ludicrously large guns that are a joy to use, as also are the massive battle suits you can pick up along the way. the graphics are very impressive with some very realistic shading, reflections and effects etc.One of the slightly odd things I found about it is the option to play the campaigns online with other people. in many ways this is a very cool addititon, but finding people who are at the exact same point in the campaign is not so easy.because of that i've been doing most of the campaign story so far on my own.which is fine - the pace is good, the difficulty appropriate (i tend to go on normal difficulty settings), the cut scenes are well done, and the voice acting / cinematics none too shabby at all.special mention, and for me part of the sheer fun of teh game is the scale and creativity of some of the aliens and environments - "Kill big" is a very apt tag line for this game - i'm only in the first 15% of the game and already have had some epic battles against some titanic bosses. and these arent the kind of bosses where you have to just figure out the easy way to kill them then they go down in 30 secs - these things just require brutal amounts of firepower, plain and simple. of course, there is still a method to killing each one, but it's not like a short cut.because of this, the game still feels both challenging and fun, with a massive sense of heart pounding relief when the big bosses finally go down.the online matches against other players are good too, but i've literally only played 2 so far, so wont say any more on them.

In the space of time it got from XBOX and PS3 to Windows LP2 was treated to some of the pickiest reviews I've ever seen. Despite having not played the first Lost Planet game at the time and the almost unanimous negative-to-average critical reaction, the stunning visuals, mecha and giant monsters prompted me to buy this game and I'm VERY pleased I did. The design, interface and other issues noted with console versions were (for me) non-existent. Bearing in mind that this is a *game* and not art, or a film posing as art, the premise should be fairly clear: pick up your gun and shoot at stuff - what Lost Planet 2 has in abundance is amazing looking aliens to shoot at,many of them are gigantic and worth buying a widescreen monitor and top-of-the-range graphics card for.Highlights include: multiplayer co-op, numerous pilotable Vital Suits (mechs) and combat armour & the eye-popping cutscenes, action sequences and visuals. The story is a bit weird, but pay attention and there's interesting stuff going on (even if it isn't explained upfront). Some have complained that there's no emotional attachment or whatever but I think the game attends to matters on a larger scale, you play as 4 different factions throughout the 6 campaigns all with different goals but comes together brilliantly at the end.Note: the game will ask you to create a Games For Windows LIVE account and probably requires an internet connection to play. I purchased my copy via Steam so I'm unsure if you need that also.

LOST PLANET 2 is a awesome game (hence the title of this mini review) Usually when I buy a new game I like to concentrate on completeing the single player mode first and foremost however, Lost Planet 2 is a game that is best served online & with friends or other human beings (whether they're your friends or not).I've only played a very small portion of the single player game because I addicted to improving my online ranking (currently level 30) and I must say that the 10 included maps are brilliant, Plus I got the bonus DLC which consists of an extra 2 maps :)Newcomers may love or loave the control system of LP2 as there is a slight learning curve to be able to pull off taking out your opponents (like aiming correctly)If you haven't played the original lost planet you may get frustrated with this game & trade it back in and miss out on a great gaming experience, so perseverance is the key.The graphics this game pulls off are simply stunning to look at and the battles can be very intense, plus it has massive bugs in it & a ton of other cool stuff like character upgrades that you can acquire the more you play.I only wish that Capcom released more maps on the disc for the online mode as 10 or so maps aren't enough for me, roll on the future DLC.

I don't understand why this game doesn't have more PC players, as I found the game a lot of fun, and enjoyed the brilliant performance, lack of bugs (or at least none that I even remember) and loved the multiplayer options, but unfortunately never got to try them, because nobody plays it! :( Awesome game, though, just don't expect to play it online. This game does indeed use "Games for Windows - Live" as you can see from the case image, so keep that in mind, however, I don't recall having a single problem with GfWL, and rarely do, so please take into account, too! The graphics I think (still) are absolutely amazing, and the game seems to have an amazing engine. I can't say the story was blow-your-arse-off sensational, but what I have seen was pretty sweet, and I'd say that it's not a game that's designed to awe you with amazing storylines that you'll remember for years to come, but rather it's about awesome gameplay, multiplayer, and gorgeous graphics.Happy gaming!

I enjoyed playing this game, it was a bit harder than the usualgames you get these days. You can play it over and over again andit will still be fun and hard. Once you have completed the game, you still have to play the game to get more weapons/clothing/emotes.The Co-Op on one Lost Planet 2, on the same machine, is annoyingwith is one of the cons of this game, you have a small screen iftwo people are playing on the same Xbox. Online Co-Op is goodand a fantastic experience. I find the more players you have onlinethat are not NPC's the game gets harder (In my opinion). The PvP eliment of the game is nice and fun, but also very hard.Play Deathmatch and kill everyone else without help, or if teamis your thing,Team Deathmatch might do the trick. If you're nota killing person, trying scoring the goal with an Akrid Egg, orpost capturing.Over all, I find this a good game and a good purches for anyonethat likes Shooting Games.

Lost Planet 2 has stunning aesthetics that will leave you satisfied any day, it is just a shame that the same cannot be said for the story. While LP2 definitely will not leave you bored, the story of the game feel underdone. You follow several groups of characters on their journey around EDN3 and learn what the get up to and then inexplicably all head to one location for an epic final battle. The characters are shallow and playing the game I developed no feelings for them. The campaign itself is linear although different paths can be chosen to complete a level, which is frustrating, especially when you are given the amazing world to play in.On the other hand the native aliens, or akrid as they are known, are fun to go against require a certain skill at third person shooters to defeat (a skill that I do not possess) .

I got this game a few days ago and I thought it was brilliont then I started playing it and still liked it exept the fact that your levels always finish when you pass a red line and when you pass that line you have to stop and then you have to wait at least ten secounds to finish and start looking at scores. The other reason why some people might not like it is that the missions are so quick and you spend quite a lot of time doing scores for the mission you have just done. Dispite what I have just said the graphics are good, same with gameplay, controls, picture and plot. All in all it is a good game just sometimes can get on your nerves but i'd still recomend it to most people who like actionand 3rd person shooting.

First the good news, Co-op with friends doesn't get much better than this. Zero Lag, Clear Comms, Nice graphics, HUGE Akrids. perfect for co-op lovers. For those who loved co-op in Resistance 2 or Borderlands, then there's a chance you'll love Lost Planet 2 co-op.Bad news, well single player bot's AI is a little rubbish at times as you end up having to complete objectives yourself as they're to stupid to carry them themselves, shame but not a game breaker by any account. The ok news, well, the other online modes are just fine and whilst other games do things better, it's perfectly acceptable.Taking everything into account, this jsut scrapes an 8/10 from me and thats due to the brilliant co-op mode.

Easily one of the most memorable games I ever owned on Xbox. While other games were chasing 100% realism, Lost Planet had you diving head-first down the throat of a giant monster to fill its beating heart with lead. One minute you were infiltrating an underwater laboratory, the next you were in orbit overthrowing a space station.Once you completed the campaign, you had an almost infinite amount of character customizations, weapons and abilities to unlock. Head back into the campaign for a replay of the epic storyline, or take on the world in multiplayer. Well, maybe not the world, but instead the 900 other people who dared to leave CoD out of the disc tray.

This is definitely one of the best Mech Game out there. It still shines to this day. It has tons of mechs. Its got level on Snow, Forest, Undersea, Desert, Volcanic Caves, Industrial Ruins and freaking Space. U just name it, they have it. U get to manoeuvre every kind of Vehicles - Flying ones, hovering ones, walking ones, gliding ones swimming ones... U have every kind of weapons, every type of weapons for human, every type of weapons for Mechs and a huge freaking Giant Cannons that can throw huge 1Ton Projectiles. People complain about storyline, its as good as any others out there. And they put one monotonous story line in LP3, and completely ruined it.

Great game, better than demo or reviews make you believe. It's just 100% action. Kampaign is best with four online players, so the only reason not to get this game is if your PS3/Xbox is not online.Story seems to be missing, but only at the end you get what all the episodes have been leading up to. At second play-through the story truly unfolds and has many surprises, now that you know the great whole.Controlls are fine, and many ways to customize to one's preferences.Hundreds of items, fun-moves (emotes) and more to unlock to keep you playing/collecting/unlocking for weeks without end.Highly recommendable game!!!

This is one of the few co-op two player games for the PS3. Also it's a pretty much a straightforward kill bad guys and pick up cool weapons sort of a game. I bought it for these two reasons and it certainly delivers. I don't like the new trend for immersive online game playing I'm happy for an old fashioned arcade experience that I can dip in and out of. This is great for that. However the co-op screen set up is a little strange there is a seprate map for each player (that you really need) and that leaves a very small portion of the screen for each playe once the screen is split.
