L'Oréal Magic Retouch in BROWN and DARK BLONDEThis is a Review for 2 Different Shades.Applicable to BOTH SHADES• This is a product designed to touch up and conceal scattered grey hairs, also greys at the temple and roots at any parting.• It is just like mascara and operates in the same way.• Simply comb the hair and hold back. Stroke the wand over the grey hair. Then comb through to distribute. Leave to dry naturally or you can blow dry the area if you prefer. It then lasts until you next shampoo your hair. This is a really useful product and so very easy to use. There is no mess and it is so quick too. It does however leave the hair a little 'stiff' where the Touch Up is used.It is a good idea though!I did not have any irritation or adverse reaction to this product, and it washed out with no problem.BUT - only applicable to the BROWN COLOUR (Photo 1)UPDATE - I found that this BROWN Shade was a little dark when using it during the later days of re-growth. Even though I use a Permanent Colourant on my hair, the colour does fade.In my opinion, his BROWN Shade is great in the early days of re-growth. It would be great if L'Oreal had a greater shade range.IN ADDITION:-In Reference to the Update above and an ADDITIONAL Review of the DARK BLONDE Shade:- (Photo 2)If, like me, you find the Brown Shade a little too dark for touch up in the earlier days of re-growth, when the all over colour has not faded very much, this DARK BLONDE Shade will probably suit you better. For me, this DARK BLONDE is the answer, and overall, having two Re-touch Shades does the job.(Photo 3 = Dark Blonde on the left and Brown on the right)

I’m surprised it has taken so long for L’Oreal (or any hair-related company) to produce this, considering those of us who have been using mascara to do the same job for years!I’ve been dying my hair for the past 20 years having gone prematurely grey (thanks genes!) and in the past 5 or so years, my lots of roots are nearly white. Although I have my hair professional dyed every 5-6 weeks, I use the L’Oreal Magic Touch spray 2-3 weeks after professional dying until my next appointment to cover the roots. My hair is dark, so my roots are really obvious. The spray is great, but is hard to use around the hairline without getting it all over your face. This is where this product comes in.It looks like mascara but it’s not waterproof in the slightest and the wand is a small plastic double sided brush rather than a bristle brush. You apply it to the hair you want to colour, brush it with your hair brush to distribute it, let it dry, then give it another brush and then you’re off. It works very well to cover the grey and the black colour is a true black. I use the spray to cover my parting and this to cover the grey strands at my hairline and temples. You do need to be careful when applying it not to let it touch the scalp as it shows up and it’s hard to remove without removing what you have applied to your hair. Because it isn’t waterproof, it washes off when I cleanse my face at the end of the day. Which is irritating. It’s also double the price of a decent and basic waterproof mascara. Which you could elect to use instead of this. It is a good product and it does the job, but I can’t understand why it’s as expensive as it is.

I have mid-brown hair which would be almost dark brown, without the ministrations of light brown hair colour, This 'brown' hair colourant is a milk chocolate shade, It turned out to be quite suitable. The hair colourant applicator is exactly the same as a mascara wand. The only difference is that the hair colourant is more liquid, The wand comes out of the container looking like its been dipped in liquid milk chocolate.Application is very straightforward. you simply draw the applicator through the roots of your hair, where greys are showing. I have greys in my fringe and at my temples, with the odd one showing elsewhere. The recommendation is that you use a comb to distribute the colourant, following use of the wand. I'm not sure if this worked as well as it should have done. I just got colourant along the shaft of my hair. The following day my fringe and temples were crisp and dry, and in desperate need of some hair serum. The wand hadn't caught every single scrap of grey, but things were significantly improved and the remaining very light sprinkle of grey looks natural. It will do until I use a hair colourant again.I wouldn't rely on it for more than a couple of weeks, I suspect it will wash out quite quickly. I'd class it as a semi-permanent. The good point is, that it is incredibly easy to apply. Have a decent leave -in hair serum handy to rehydrate your hair in the morning, and all will be well.

Compared to the spray version, this one definitely has its advantages. Where the spray can speckle everywhere, I like that you can be very precise as this one uses a wand kind of similar to a mascara spoolie but much flatter and the combs only on the edges. Colour wise, I got the brown and found it very orange toned looking on the wand but it dries quite dark brown. When applying it to the hair, it’s very wet and basically does look like you’re applying mascara to your hair. It ends up concentrated wherever its applied first so don’t start at the roots. I also feel it needs a lot of work – using something like a beauty blender to even it out and get it off the scalp so it’s not really something I’d want to have in my bag as it’s not really a quick wipe and away you go.I also find having long hair that my hair can catch in the wand so it coats the ends too which can end up all over your face until it has dried so I’d apply this before make up. If applied too thickly it can also feel quite crunchy when it dries so the excess really needs to be removed but it won’t just wipe off the wand back into the tube. It’s still not the perfect way to touch up roots but I do slightly prefer it over the spray.

I’ve tried using the spray root touch-ups in the past which are ok if it’s like a full parting at the top of your head that you want to camouflage but it’s the tiny area at the sides of my head just in front of my ears that I’m self-conscious about and you can’t spray there, so this precision wand is perfect. A bit like a mascara brush, you can brush it on exactly where you need it and the coverage is very good. I gave it a quick blast with the hairdryer to set it although you can just leave it to air dry, and then it says to comb it but because it’s such a tiny area, I just use my fingers to break it up a bit because it does initially feel a bit stiff and crispy.Gently coaxing with my fingers separates the hair again and softens it up and you can see on your fingers that there’s barely any colour transference which is reassuring. It lasts all day without flaking and then washes out.Great for those few days before you get around to colouring your roots properly.

I was really impressed with this product. I am mid forties and apply dye to my roots every 4 weeks to keep on top of smooth glossy colour- however on occasions if I am going out on trying to hold out until my professional hairdressing appointments every 12 weeks I need to to use something more instant to touch up. I have tried sprays and can't get on with them as I think they are too messy and ruin a full face of make up, I have tried to the brush in eye shadow styles, and all the foam dap it on types- so I well versed in what is out there to help. Well this is great! I need to apply more in my parting rather than at temples. It was easy to apply and the applicator wand is similar to that of a mascara brush only flatter.I applied it, brush it through and blasted with hairdryer to dry it in. It was so easy to apply and will be great for those nights out when you've not quite synced hair appointments- it was mess free and I was happy with the result.

L'Oreal Magic Retouch Dark Brown Precision Instant Grey Concealer BrushThis product comes with really practical portable packaging and the wand type brush is easy to use. It is quite small though so while extremely ideal for precise and small sections of hair do that you can apply the product right down the the beginning of the hair shaft - it is not as ideal for larger sections of hair if that is your requirement.Per the instructions you comb through the product after a few minutes. The hair does feel a little rigid however nothing too uncomfortable - just a bit like you are wearing hairspray. There was good coverage and the colour match was spot on for my hair. The product stayed on until Inext washed my hair which was useful. It is the same size as a mascara/lip gloss so handbag and make-up bag friendly which is ideal if you need to use it on the go/after the gym etc.I would recommend this product.

My mop faded to grey a long time ago; salt n' pepper was a phase now it is basically white/silver if I'm kidding myself. My partner has never been content to allow nature to do it's worse so will regularly apply a colour to her hair.In between applications has always been an issue.L'Oreal Magic Retouch makes these anxious gaps less of an issue when her hair has to be onside. The spray is great but the concealer brush is also a great asset.Requiring an little more focus; ideal if a like minded person is around it covers and flatters in one easy sweep over those previous areas of grey breakout.Unlike a spray it has the added bonuses:1) of only using what you need.2) of being centred on areas in greatest need3)of always knowing you have some left. (Nothing worse than the spray that peters out mid-sweep.Excellent results; confidence building and when applied brings a satisfied smile to your face.

I find these mascara wand touch-up products easier to use than other varieties (eg sprays or eye-shadow style compacts) as it's much easier to direct the product to where you want it to go. I've used the dark brown version on my own hair and tested this blonde shade on a friend. The product itself is quite thick and has to be applied sparingly to avoid blobbing or gloopiness. We tested it on my friend's roots at her temples and parting. I was surprised that the shade matched quite well with her 'natural' blonde shade. The product blended in well on her parting but was trickier to apply at her temples and we got quite a bit of it on her skin, which had to be blotted away.Overall as a quick-fix cover up I think this type of product is the easiest to apply. It's not perfect but I was surprised to see that it works as well for blonde hair as it does for dark.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have blonde hair and I hate it when after about 2/3 weeks you can start seeing my roots coming through , so this is a great product to use instead of over dyeing your hair. I like to wait at least 6 weeks before dyeing again, but hate the dark roots. So this is great for me, I only marked a star down as I tried light golden blonde which was a little darker than my hair colour, I think a light blonde would suit me better. Even though it was darker, it did make my roots lighter than than my natural colour so it did work to some extend. It's easy to apply bring a spray and washed out easy from my hair. It's definitely worth trying this product but I think getting a close matching colour is the key benefiting factor. I will definitely buy this again but will be looking for a lighter shade.

I must say I did not personally use this product so am writing this based on what my wife has said about the product.Firstly, she thought this was a mascara until I told her otherwise. After which she thought this was a great idea and set off to try it on her white roots. She came back within 5 mins and said this is awesome! The colour I had purchased was black which I think would work on dark brown and black hair. My wife has pretty blackish hair and this covered her white roots perfectly. The bottle is rather small so I’m not sure how long the product would last but I would expect a few months out of it.It is very easy to apply and my has told me she will use it all the time.Just ensure youpick the right colour.Nicely packaged and has instruction which you can see in the photo provided.

In principal this is a genius product which is actually really super helpful in a tight spot - if you've perhaps just styled your hair and set it then notice an unsightly odd grey here or there that you don't want stealing all the attention, then this is a great quick-fix cover up.Definitely not to be applied prior to styling though - this dries a little hard like styling wax or clumped mascara, so needs to be applied once you know you have your hair how you want it. It's also great for just those odd little greys around the edges. It's true black but blends very well. The only downsides are that it will run if wet and that it's a very small little applicator - so strictly for touch ups in between visits to the salon.Gents, this also works on grey beard hairs if you don't want to pluck!

I’d say this is easy to use and if your dark haired would say just get a dark coloured mascara and do any bits that need touching up with that. However if blonde not so easy to do it just that way and not as cheap either.Saying that though this product doesn’t do a bad job at all of covering any hair bits that need a quick touch up to last you till your next appointment at hair dressers or until you colour it yourself. Either way this makes those areas you need covering up done so quickly.Mascara type wand is best way of describing it and it does come out when washed. However it doesn’t seem to come out if you get caught in a rain storm which is always useful to know.Four stars due to price as think it should be slightly less in price.

I was asked if I’d like to review the L'Oreal Magic Retouch Dark Brown Precision Instant Grey Concealer Brush, and I said yes.Previously I’ve struggled to use colour root touch ups, so I did wonder whether this would work for me.Directions for use are:-Hold dried and detangled hair back. Gently stroke the Magic Precision brush on temples and scattered greys. Then gently stroke with your usual comb to distribute evenly. Once you’ve finished you can either blow dry quickly or let your hair dry on it’s own for five minutes, (I do the later). This is easy to apply due to the flat comb, it’s covered my grey roots really well, and yes it did stay on my hair till it was shampooed out.I can recommend this product.

I was a bit sceptical on this product but I needn't have worried. This is great its like a mascara but for your hair! Very easy to apply and brushes in easily and stays put, although I was very careful when brushing hair after application. I found the colour to tone in very well with my own hair, and it hits the greys well....probably be a bit more practice for me but will be fairly easy to master i think. The main thing is that this really works to hide those greys and thats great as it allows a bit of time between having hair coloured at the salon. Make sure to get the right colour for your hair tone and test a tiny area first. Would recommend this product to friends.
