Makeup has a tendency to progressively yellow after it has been applied, more so in sunnier conditions. So, what looks good on your face at breakfast time might need a bit of colour adjustment by mid-afternoon. L'Oreal Magic Loose Powder is designed to do just that by adding a subtle blue tint to colour-correct what lies beneath it. As a result you stop looking jaundiced and return to that freshly made-up look. It's a useful tool, and handy to carry in your bag.The feedback I received was as follows:This product comes in a handy, and easy to carry, small plastic jar. It's a two part container that is cleverly designed to keep most of the powder captive. Give it a shake to release some powder into the upper compartment, then use a fine makeup brush to lift, and apply it to your face. Blend it subtly, using broad brush flicks, and you'll achieve a result that simply freshens your complexion without the powder itself being noticeable. If you can see big blue marks on your face like the product images, you've applied way too much powder! A little goes a long way. No sponge or brush is provided so you'll need your own. A retractable brush is handy and convenient for daytime carry without mess.In summary, this is a very useful product that's easily carried and extends the life of your makeup. In that respect, and even though it might be considered slightly pricy, it could actually save you time and money if you can get away with only having to do your makeup once in a day rather that twice. Looking fresh for a night on the town after a hard day's work suddenly became a lot more simple!

[Reviewed by Mrs O’] I’m really impressed with the L’Oreal Infallible range and this magic loose powder is is just as good as the Infallible foundation. I always wear powder to set my make-up and reduces shine, so was interested to see how this magic blue light reflecting powder would work. I was not disappointed. The container is not the largest for the price point, but the fine quality of the powder makes up for the perceived lack of quantity. The container it comes in has small holes in it to keep the powder in, which when gently shaken with the lid on allows powder to come through for you then to use a brush. to apply. I was slightly confused with the description of this product as it seems to suggest that it comes with a doe foot applicator, which mine certainly didn’t - not that it mattered as I would have used my own brush anyway, but the product description could be clearer.Application was straight-forward and my complexion looked very good and lasted throughout the day, keeping shine generally in check without further application (though this will depend on your skin type and your activity) and make-up in place. I would say the powder lightened my face and gave a smoother appearance than without the powder, so job done. Good for sensitive skin too, as I had no reaction to wearing it. Recommended

I tend to wear a liquid to powder foundation and for days when I want extra coverage, I add a layer of loose powder that matches my skin tone. I was therefore a little wary of this light blue coloured powder, but hey I use green primer when I’m blotchy. This powder is very fine and is easily and evenly applied with a small buki brush I have. The colour doesn’t look blue on your face (at least no-one’s told me I look like the offspring of a Smurf) and it does give your skin a glow. I actually prefer using this powder than my normal ‘ivory’ shade. That said, I wouldn’t use this product on its own as it doesn’t cover blemishes. I would say that when I apply this powder over my normal foundation I achieve a brighter fresher look.I also have extremely sensitive skin, but I’ve had no blotchiness, itchiness or dryness after using this product. I now need to re-assess what I carry in my make-up bag as it’s far too full to hold this product plus an application brush. Or perhaps I should buy a larger bag?

I always wear a skin-matching powder over my foundation to set it and to absorb shine. I wasn't really sure how to add this loose blue powder to my routine and ended up swapping my normal powder for this.1) The coverage is not as good as my normal powder. I have marked skin and appreciate a heavier coverage. The coverage of this powder is perfectly fine if you have normal skin and just want to add a "photoshop filter" as it were.2) This blue powder has more energy and makes my face look more vibrant and happy. It's a subtle thing and not garish. I really like the effect.3) I'm used to compact powders. The loose powder is trickier to apply with a brush (not supplied) but you get used to it.I dab it in a few areas on my face and then blend it in.4) I have sensitive skin and this powder hasn't caused issuesAll in all , I'm impressed and will buy this when it runs out. It's made me more comfortable with having lighter coverage on my face and I really like the lift it gives my skin.

This powder looks very blue however when you use it it provides an even coverage over foundation and does not look blue at all. I can’t say that my skin looked any brighter than it does with my current brand however it did perform well in terms of reducing the shine on my T zone areas for a few hours at least. The product does not have as much ‘depth’ of colour as my current brand and therefore the overall look was not as ‘full’.The product is a smaller quantity than my current brand and the price for this quantity does seem a little high although less than it would be for more luxury brands.I like the dispenser mechanism which allows you to use the amount you want each time.Overall it’s a good product and does help reduce shine and even out the ‘finish’ of your make up.I would recommend the product although I’m not sure I personally would substitute my current brand.

L'Oreal Cosmetics Infallible Magic Loose Powder is a new cosmetic product I have had the pleasure of using and I can happily say I would purchase it again as it provided me with not only shine reduction which lasted most of the day though it did take a touch up prior to going out for the night. I would love it to be available in a compact which I could slip into my bag and not worry about powder spilling which is always a fear I would have with loose powder.I loved the effect it had on my skin as it really brightened my skin and made my skin more alive and simply more enhanced. This is one cosmetic I would happily recommend to family and friends as it gives more of a lustre for my skin simplyproviding my skin with much-needed oomph which has been slightly lacking due to the cold weather and the central heating etc.Happy to recommend.

I don't usually use powder as part of my daily make-up routine - choosing primer/concealer and if required, a foundation instead, however I'm prepared to give it a try. This product promises to revive one's complexion and ensure that make-up remains fresh and clear all day. I applied it at lunchtime after spending the whole morning in back-to-back meetings and yes, it did it's job - my skin looked much better. It loses a star because I'd have to lug around this product plus a large powder brush to get the best results and I just don't really want to do that. Also, as with any powder-based cosmetic, it does sit in those pesky age lines. That said,it's an excellent innovative product and one which will take pride of place in my make-up bag.

I’m aware of the use of purple creams or primers to lift a yellow or sallow complexion, but I’m used to adding peachy tones to my skin rather than neutralising them as peach is fantastic for lifting my under eye circles instead of a skin matching concealer. So blue is supposed to neutralise orange and as someone with super pale skin any orange is from a cheap nasty bronzer I wouldn’t wear so I wasn’t sure how this would ‘brighten my day’.However turns out it’s really good at giving the face a glow up, I wore this over my face except under my eyes after a bad night and yet I looked much brighter and rested than I should have.(It’s also fabulous as an emergency colour corrector if your blonde needs a toner by the way!!)

I like this Magic loose powder it's pale blue in colour, but once on it leaves my skin with a silky smooth velvety finish. The powder comes with no applicator, so you will have to provide your own. The powder is formulated with blue toned light diffusing technology to brighten your complexion and keeps your makeup looking fresh all day long. I have found that I need to use a good moisturiser before my foundation or my skin feels tight after a few hours after applying the infallible Magic loose powder, for this reason I have dropped it one star. I like how this powder sits on my skin and my complexion looks smoother and brighter after applying it, therefore it's 4*'s from me folks.

I’ve used this in the past and also other makes as like to have a more set look to my foundation if going out for a longer time and wanting my foundation to keep looking better. The only reason for four stars is that no brush or puff comes with it other than that it’s a brilliant product for me. Knew that from previous pot of this that would need something to use to apply it big brush for myself so not an issue. It does keep my foundation set but not a chalet caked powered look which I think can be ageing and no one wants that look. Priced better than my usual make and would happily say yes a favourite of mine and has been since about a year or so back.

The 'Magic Loose Powder' definitely has the effect of lightening / brightening my appearance and it is a blendable, fine powder so doesn't appear heavy or clog my pores. I find that it makes me look a little too pale though - there is no warmth to it on my skin tone. Whilst I think it is good value, it doesn't suit me personally - but it does what it says it does. The 'Magic Essence drops' I find more suitable for my skin and I think they have made a noticeable difference to my skin. I've tried to balance my reviews as this is a 2 for 1 review so I have gone for 4 stars - although for me, the powder alone would be 3 stars.

This is a very fine blue powder in a screw top pot. There is a plastic inner lid with small holes which limits the amount of powder available. It is very easy to apply with either a normal powder brush or a stiffer kabuki brush and does not look at all blue once applied! It fixes make up very well, giving a lovely matt finish that lasts very well. Confess I didn’t really notice any change to brightness of complexion, but I would use it again. It doesn’t really work as a make-up bag essential since the pot is quite deep and you’d need to carry a brush as well, but as a home make up product it’s great.

I am not a big fan of full-face makeup, including face powder, at the best of times. And when I opened this package to see this powder was blue... well I was extremely dubious. But I was also intrigued as well and I gave it a try over my makeup. It didn't really look blue - the blue light diffusing just made my skin and makeup look a bit more radiant, and it evened out the redder and blotchier bits. As others have mentioned, it doesn't come with an applicator, so you'll need to provide your own brush. But if you're good with that, it's a decent product.

I was very sceptical about this product, even more so when I saw it. I tried it out at the gym. Normally at the gym I do not wear make up as it clogs on my skin if I sweat so I make do with some powder. However I used makeup to-day and topped it with this powder. I must say that the difference was very subtle. The only way to describe it was my skin looked brighter. Make up did not clog at all and remained in situ. I did work quite hard. I will probably use it for evenings out and go back to my naked face in the gym although I think it was a good test.

I was sent this to test as part of the Amazon Vine programme but being a man I had a slight problem, so I employed my daughter-in-law in an unpaid, semi-official capacity to do the testing and report back. Her words: “I didn’t have to use a lot of this after applying my foundation and got the desired effect. It’s a very fine powder that goes on evenly. It takes any shine away and though it looks best if you top up during the day, it does last well. I’d recommend this product, especially if you like using a setting powder after your foundation.”
