Okay first off; the plus points:- It works fine in Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 (I have 64-bit versions of both)- WirelessAC uses a more point-to-point transfer of data (as opposed to a radius approach of WirelessN), so you get a faster transfer that is more resilient to obstacles (walls etc). We only have partitioned walls so it wasn't noticeable.- Its compatible with all older wireless routers, so don't be afraid to buy this if you need a new dongle - its going to support you well in the futureOn the downside however:- It won't work on Windows 8/8.1 without the install CD. Simply plugging the device into your PC does nothing. It is amazing that the device driver is not built into the device like most other modern dongles- The dongle is huge, meaning that if your USB ports are close together, you won't get anything in the adjacent one (take note wireless mouse users!)- Apparently WirelessAC's broadcast technology (5GHz) means that the range isn't as good as WirelessN. So its not going to work well in large premises. I can't test this unless you buy me a larger house. Now the for transfer speeds. Using the same 450Mb file for each one:Wireless N (actually 'g') to my old router- 450mb download 31 seconds- 450mb upload 102 secondsWireless AC to a wireless AC router- 450mb download 14 seconds- 450mb upload 49 secondsMarkedly faster than WirelessN then, but NO WHERE NEAR the advertised speeds from the marketing people. The box advertises 867Mbps when I actually got 257Mbps (32 megabytes per second). This should be plenty fast enough however to stream HDTV.

To avoid any confusion this review is for the Linksys WUSB6300 AC1200 Dual-Band Wireless-AC USB Adapter (900Mbps).As sometimes happens on Amazon listings a number of different products come under the one listing with a drop down menu to select the item.A number of 1 star reviews you may see (May 2014) are probably for something completely different being either another adaptor or perhaps a router.Installation of the Wireless Adaptor does need the setup files on the CD provided so if you have no DVD drive on your netbook or laptop you will need to download from the Linksys site. The Windows 7 download also applies to Windows 8.1 as confusingly reading the driver information for Windows 8 youmay assume it is just plug'n play.Once installed and the wireless router password is entered I recommend you go to Control Panel- Device Manager-Network adaptor WUSB6300-Power Management- Allow the Computer to turn off this device to save power and uncheck the box. Some users have thought this was a fault with the adaptor. The dual band 2.4Ghz and 5 Ghz selection may need to be changed on your router. You may find better speed on the 5Ghz but in general a better range using 2.4Ghz. I have found it 100% reliable with no drop outs and the only minor criticism is the width of the device. This may not matter on most PC's or laptops but I was using it on an Intel NUC where the USB3 ports were side by side. This effectively blocked the use of the spare adjacent USB3 socket on the front.

This arrived today, until now I'd been connecting to the internet via a slightly complex system using an old and unreliable router so it was time for some new technology. As a Windows XP user, I avoided running the setup CD first which the manufacturers recommend doing. Instead, I put in the CD and plugged in the adapter, when my PC searched for the drivers I simply pointed it to the setup CD where it quickly found the drivers and did the rest of the work without any fuss. And that was it, I was ready to go!One point I should make is that I had to tell my PC not to shut down the adapter to save power, as I know many people have had problems with it turning off which kills their internet connection. If you're having this problem and use Windows XP, here's your fix:Go to control panel > system > the "hardware" tab > click on device manager button > find the adapter in the list, it should be under "network adapters" as "Linksys AE2500" > right click and go to "properties" > go to the far right tab "Power management" > there should be a check box that says "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power", this option needs to be OFF then simply click OK. I hope this helps anyone having problems with their internet access cutting out. This problem accounts for almost all the bad reviews I've read across a number of different sites, once it's not a problem you'll find this adapter is all you could ever need. Highly recommended!

This Linksys USB adapter is tiny. When they say mini, they mean it. On recepit I attempted to install the device - it took several goes for some reason. Whilst I can't explain why this was it did take several attempts but eventually, when it did happen it was simple and straightforward. The laptop I chose to install the device on is over 3 years old and has had trouble connecting onto the internet. It drops in and out and I've never been able to identify why - all other wi-fi devices in the house maintain a strong connection to our network. Once I had turned off the laptops own connective ability I used the mini USB adapter and was able to maintain a decent connection for long periods of time.In this respect the Linksy enhanced the laptop markedly. For its size this device packs a decent punch and certainly improved the old laptop we have. My only issue is that I think it is a touch pricey.

If you are a windows 8 user and have received messages like update OS to xp service pack 3 or later. Please follow the next steps;(Other users have also mentioned using win 7 driver)1. Download win 7 driver from [...](Comes in zip file, which should be extracted to a folder)2. Plug in adapter3. Go to device manager and right click4. Update device by selected the driver folder(where you have extracted the win 7 driver file)5. All doneThe product itself is well built and maintains my internet speed from the living room to conservatory, signal strength is good(3 out of 5 bars) but speed is the same as LAN wire. I gave it 4 stars because the CD does not supply different drivers. You have to download it from the website before starting, which gave me some hassle in the start.

I bought the Linksys WUSB6300 AC1200 adapter when it was on a flash sale and I must say, I'm really impressed. It works under Linux much better than my old adapter. It does not, however, work out of the box and you need to download and install a drive, but the driver installation was quite straightforward. The driver is called "rtl8812AU" from the author "diederikdehaas" and can be easily found on github. The driver page also says it supports Raspberry Pi, so that's also a plus.Keep in mind that you'll probably want to use a USB extension cord which is not included. The device is somewhat bulky near the connector and can easily block an adjacent USB port otherwise (see the photo I attached - while the second port is not fully blocked,it's most unusable).

Lots of lazy, misguided people leaving comments here... to solve the issue you are having with the auto-off feature(which you should have troubleshooted before leaving feedback - the product is not faulty), follow these simple steps: Control Panel > Device Manager > Network Adapters > Double-click on "Linksys AE2500" > Go to Power Management > Deselect 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' and click OK.Now to reviewing the product; works well at a distance of about 12m, I'm also working with a poor signal from my BT HomeHub 4; dual-band, high speed connectivity (up to 300Mbps); quite cheap. And don't be alarmed if it says Cisco on the adapter instead of Linksys, because Linksys is just the product-line.

I didn't know it was possible to convert a hardwired PC into a Wi-Fi PC simply by sticking a dongle thingy in a USB slot - but it is. I had a choice between cheap generic adaptors probably made in China or more expensive ones, this one costing more than most. The reviews were good, the company had a respected history, so Linksys won out. And it hasn't disappointed. Very easy to set up and then away you go....... Initially the signal strength was good to low, but rather than blame the product I moved the BT Hub transmitter thingy into a less obstructed position (it's downstairs, the PC upstairs) and the signal strength increased immediately. All-in-all I'm well pleased with this.

Not a lot to say about this without being too complicated. The device is small so when installed on either a laptop / notebook or a desktop PC, it isn't in the way too much. It comes with an installation CD so installs quite easily. Transfer speeds have been medium to good in practice so it does what I expected. One thing I will say is that the packaging is ridiculous. For the size of the adapter (35mm / 15mm / 7mm), a box of this size is unnecessary. I know there is a CD inside (not really necessary as a link to a download for drivers would suffice) but the box itself is as big as a brick !

used this AC1200 USB adapter as an upgrade from an older Linksys WUSB600N. The PC I am using this adapter on has 2 concrete walls and the house mains power distribution boards between it and the router (with 1Gb broadband). I test my speed pre the upgrade and got ~36.6Mbps. After installing the AC1200 I retest the speed and got 125.4Mbps...and massive improvement.Very Happy.

Works perfectly with Windows 7 Enterprise, good connection even with few walls between the dongle and the router. 5 stars -1 because does not work straight out of the box on Linux (Ubuntu) and there is no Linux drivers or support. Requires a bit of fiddling to get it to work in Linux!

Arrived within two days of ordering and took only a few minutes to install. Has turned my PC into a Wi-fi receiving machine allowing my modem and router to be close to the telephone point.

Easy to use, pop in cd to upload programme, then pop in the tiny adapter and welcome faster wireless. I have noticed the quicker speeds especially when downloading films etc.
