Bought this the other day sealed in its plastic packaging. Put battery in it 3AAA and doesn't turn on at all. NO LIGHT NOTHING!!!! Put another set of battery and still nothing.I am a mechanical engineer so I thought time to find out what's wrong. i BOUGHT IT CHEAP £2.50 so not bad to waste. 1)checked battery magazine output..4.7V okay as 3 x 1.5 more or less 4.5V, 2)Forced open the other side of lamp this is glued, okay too.3) Undone the lamp assembly via a knife edge along the joint and 4 clips, then 2 small screws on both side of the LED board. It cam out easy and found the TWO LITTLE SPRINGS THAT SUPPOSE TO CONNECT TO THE BATTERY PLATE IS BENT AND NOT TOUCHING THE METAL AT ALL.Removed the springs and soldered a piece of wire direct to the plate from the electronic board. Reassembled and working as suppose to be.... I saved my dough. Now the light itself...aside from almost ended in the trash works as intended 3 different settings and quite good. My only criticism is for Lighthouse very POOR quality control. Probably never test the units after assembly. Those spring contacts are very easily out of position and doesn't make metal to metal contact. So I give nil star to quality control but the lights if it worked has to be 4 star. 1 star less for my troubles!!!

This head torch runs off 3 * AAA batteries whuich makes it difficult to use with rechargeable batteries (which usually need charged in pairs). It has three settings 2*LEDs, 4*LEDs or 8*LEDsThe 8 LEDs don't appear much brighter than the 4 LEDs.Using brand new Alkaline batteries (Duracell) I measured4.5V off4.3V 46mA with 2 LEDs4.1V 100mA with 4 LEDs3.9V 135mA with 8 LEDsAssuming 1000mAh batteries that's~22 hours, ~10 hours and ~7.5hours at each of the 3 settings. The switch is a soft switch which means that the microcontroller draws a tiny amount of current even when the unit is off to monitor if the switch has been pressed although it was too small for me to measure so it would take over a year to drain the batteries, even so if I was leaving the unit for a prolonged period of time I'd remove the batteries.I also fear the push button could be pushed in my pack. I'd much prefer a recessed slide switch on-off switch to resolve both these problems.Despite these (minor) shortcomings it's a nice unit, not too heavy on the head and the headband works fine.

I bought this for a night-time 10k cross-country I entered, not its intended function I realise, but it performed well. On full power there was certainly enough light that I kept my footing, even on some quite tough terrain. For a camping torch or just for in the home there shouldn't be any problems with the amount of light. My only criticism comes in the build quality. The battery compartment, specifically the two small springs that comprise the electrical contacts simply don't do the job. They're too short so that there is not a closed circuit. The problem is simple enough to rectify, placing a 5 pence piece inside the compartment does the job, although there is then an annoying rattle when you run.It makes me wonder whether the price should be rounded up to a fiver and a coin included...That said, for the price, you can't really beat it.

I used this headlight for a trip to the Himalayas, where it can get dark quite early and electricity in lodgings are sparse. It was invaluable. I used it for middle of the night trips to the loo, reading books in the evenings and also trekking in the late evenings and early mornings, and the battery held up very well. It has 3 light intensities too which is handy if you only need a little light and want to save your battery. It's quite comfortable on the head and light - I wore it for hours on end and it was just fine.My only complaint would be the button used to switch it on is quite weak. A few times I opened my rucksack to find it had switched itself on - never a good thing! It's good value for money, but make sure you keep an eye on it in the bag.

Have had one of those for a good few years and very happy with it. Comfortable to wear for long periods thanks to the middle strap and the fact that its nice and lightweight and doesn't protrude too far out from your head. It has 3 different light levels which are useful for conserving battery light. The beam is fairly wide which makes it very good for working at close range, such as reading a book or doing something with your hands. Is ok for walking and running as well though. The only gripe I have is that the button is quite sensitive so it's very easy to accidentally switch the light on by leaving it in a bag or pocket,so you need to be careful about how you store it if you don't want to drain the batteries.

I have a couple of headtorches already, one LED, one incandescent. To be honest I can't say I noticed much difference switching from 2 LED's to 8, that said, 2 provide plenty of light to work with. The fall-off range for the beam is around 4-5 meters, plenty for use on a campsite or walking, although not quite as far as a non-LED torch. The beam is very wide and clear so far superior for use on campsites. The structure does appear a little cheap and plastic compared to the more expensive torches but I haven't had any problems and it has had a pretty fair drenching.Perfect for camping and short-medium work.

This little lamp is brilliant. It produces a really bright light and my daughter is using it for intricate sewing work. It is adjustable so will fit any head size and comfortable to wear too. There are 3 levels of brightness all of which are very bright anyway. My only complaint would be that it comes in the awful packaging which is sealed all around and has to cut into. I really feel that this sort of packaging should be banned as it is quite dangerous to handle and you can easily cut yourself on it.

The headlight works well. The switch has 4 positions (off, low light, medium, high) although I see little difference between medium and high. I was looking for a practical, cheap and bright light solution for my dog walks and this is the right solution. The amount of light produced is surprising and is very usefull when walking in the morning or evening darkness (as I do when walking my dogs in the park before breakfast and dinner).

very helpful when you are working in a dark space and need both hands. Fully adjustable head strap and the light isnt heavy enough to keep pulling it down at the front. Adjustable angle of light and how many of the bulbs you want to light up at a time. Strong and well made for the money it even came in useful when i cleaned the oven recently and needed a light right at the back to see what i was doing. Would recommend to anyone.

Arrived very quickly from Amazon but did not work when I put batteries in. I realised the battery pack was not making proper contact with the terminals so remedied this by sticking some card in the cap, then it worked fine. For the price, this is a very reasonable Headlight and I like the adjustable brightness, so once I got it working I was happy. Just a shame it did not work out of the packet.

Bought it for those little DIY jobs under the sink or in the loft where three hands would be useful. Very comfortable to wear and for most uses the min light setting is fine so battery life will be good. Switch is easy to operate when on your head but also has a habit of operating in your bag or pocket so best to take the batteries out first. Very pleased with this purchase and would recommend.

The head band is easily adjustable, the torch itself is on a hinge and can be angled and the light has more than one brightness setting. I brought this for my little brother who was ten at the time, and the band could be made small enought to fit his head. It was a great present as he is curious and adventerous, it still works almost a year later and has turned out to be quite durable.

I bought this to wear when I clean out my rabbit hutch as my yard is so dark in winter. It's perfect for the job. Lightweight and comfortable with 3 light functions. No more struggling with one hand round a torch trying to aim the beam in the right spot - with this on my head it simply lights up where I'm looking and it does it really well. I can't recommend this highly enough!

On holiday with our dogs, one seemed desperate to go out at 2am and his friend was not going to miss out. Fortunately I had the headlight so was able to take them out on the slippery coastal path without an accident! Since that I have found many uses for the headlight where having your hands free is a boon. And having different settings is useful as well.

4 stars because it is really practical - used it for a festival...and nothing really compares, even if you do kinda feel like a miner. The batteries do get used up pretty quick but over 2 days it was just about right. And it's nice that you can adjust the straps so it can fit rather snugly on your head. :)
