It was a slow Tuesday afternoon in the City of London, the sun was shining, accompanied with a slight chilled breeze that brought a gentle reminder that Autumn was around the corner; a perfect time to contemplate which sleeping bag I would be purchasing ahead of Bestival. Little did I know at the time, how the following series of incidents will forever imprint itself in my life for years to come.My first dilemma was my lack of knowledge in this area. It is an industry that I don't recognise any longer, one that has evolved with growing demands on a new generation of campers and festival goers, and I felt left behind. Like Sir Alan Sugar in PC World, I was an outcast, a technophobe, and immediately sought comfort in the old rear-guard brand names of the sleeping-bag world from my day; Coleman, Easy Camp, Gelert, Grobag (I actually never heard of Grobag, but like a foreigner in an American-style bar, chose the cocktail with the funniest name)...and of course Lichfield.Lichfield, a name when said out loud, stimulates electric signals of snugness through your nervous system as if you were being hugged by Stephen Fry himself. Lichfield rewrote the rulebook on outdoor camping in the 80s. Started in the modest basement of the Lichfield brothers' house in Koblenz, Germany, they retook the sleeping bag to the drawing board. They applied meticulous detail and flawless design concepts that has made German engineering so infamous. They hit the headlines with their first release, the highly revered 150 series that broke boundaries and left other such staple British brand names in their wake. It turned a lot of heads and caused a lot of controversy with its sexually ambiguous "2-way" zip, provoking a lot of protests in the UK for it to be banned from being sold among our shores. It also introduced their now patented `Polair TC' lining. The TC standing for Terylene Cotton, the secret poly-recipe that remains a secret to this day - but provided unrivalled comfort, warmth, and most notably, it could be machine-washed. It sounded too good to be true. It sold-out within hours in Germany, Austria, Netherlands, Luxembourg and Switzwerland. Yet the Lichfield brothers knew that their flag-ship product could still yet be improved - and they knew never to underestimate the customer's intelligence. They also wanted to achieve what no German sleeping bag engineer had - break the US and UK markets, the most fickle and critical campers - and they had us firmly on their radar.A year on from the 150's release, rumours were rife that a new prototype was in the pipeline. Some felt it was too soon after the 150, and people still needed time to get to understand it. But the Lichfield brothers knew they had to take it to the next level. There were of course some faults with the 150, some people felt it was part of the charm, but German's don't have the word inefficiency in their dictionary (nor do they understand charm). The question was what to call the product that was going to send shockwaves across the channel, and across the Atlantic......250. Genius. There were 2 ranges within the 250 series, the Trail or the Trekker. Both had overcome the faults of its predecessor effortlessly. Zip jam? All 250 series came with the new `Zip-guard' installed, allowing you to glide across the zip effortlessly, and of course, in both directions. Insulated Zip Baffle. The Lichfield's meticulous research showed that 8% of heat loss comes through the zips, so they introduced the insulated zip baffle. A level of detail that no one ever dreamed of. But all this, all of these never before seen improvements had nothing on the hood. Yes, you can thank the 250 everytime you wrap that Polair polyester fabric with drawcord closure around your noggin, and fall into level of consciousness and comfort as if the Lichfield brothers had you in a headlock of cotton. It put the Lichfield's on the map, pre-orders had sold out within minutes around the globe, and ironically, people were camping around Millets for weeks - in far inferior bags.So in the end, the decision was easy - plus it was 50% off and next-day delivery - so it was really the only decision. Even now, when the Lichfield name has been stained by numerous new upgrades and series that took away from their ethos - e.g. the 450 introducing individual legs, providing an innovative solution to a problem that never existed of walking in your sleeping bag.It arrived understated in its trademark stuffsac with carry handle the next day - I bundled it among my luggage and headed off to the Isle of Wight. The temperature had dropped significantly come nightfall, and that's when the Lichfield made it's presence aware. It sat patiently, and non-menacingly in the corner of my tent. It had invited itself in like an innocent and polite guest, speaking only when spoken-to, and never demanded attention or a cup of tea.I unwrapped it slowly from its modest bag, and as if undressing Salma Hayek, it lived up-to expectations. Even the simplest of details, colour coded to let you know black was the inside, and blue was the outside, and nothing else mattered. Needless to say, the nest 3 days I was taken on a journey, to which now coming back to London has left me feel slightly empty, and like Kate Middleton, my king-sized memory foam mattress has lost its sex appeal. The 250 is the cornerstone of sleeping bag technology, and I recommend buying one. Of course, you never do actually buy a Lichfield. You only look after it for the next generation.Lichfield - Inspire a generation.

I was pleasantly surprised with this sleeping bag , its light and well put together. Comfortable and warm for spring summer camping. it is worth purchasing a compression bag separate as it does compress to half of its size when rolled up well which frees up a good bit of space when packing for a hike. All in all an excellent purchase.

I bought this sleeping bag for use at a music festival which rained constantly while I was there. The sleeping bag was comfy and kept me very warm and dry. The sleeping bag fits into the stuff sack with ease, so no worries with stuffing the sleeping bag away. For the price I doubt you could get a better one!

good product, arrived next day after I order it and is bigger that what I thought, great value for money. My son use it a couple of times only, but so far so good, feels comfortable and warm enough. Comes with a bag so you can easily travel with it and keep it tidy without taking to much space.

I found this bag very sleeping comfortable and warm.Didn't have a chance to test it outdoors but in a room temperature of 20 Celsius it was too hot and had to unzip it.Very light and gets compressed to a size of a shoe box.Machine washable.Would I recommend it? Yes

Great product! It's a quality product for the money, comes in a handy carry bag. It is made of good material which is a surprise for the money. Kept me warm and comfortable all night. Highly recommended and interested in purchasing further items.

I bought this for my son (9yrs) to use on Cubs trips, he says it's very warm, but not too comfortable (he's not too fussy about these things). He seems generally happy with it, just make sure you get a comfy bed roll with too.

Bought these as replacement sleeping bags for growing grandchildren. They proved successful on our recent camping trip and seem to be cosy enough. Plenty of substance to them. Very good for to price.

Bought this for T In The Park after I decided that my other sleeping bag was too thin. This one is perfect, comfortable and very cosy. Highly recommended if you're going away for the weekend.

Was very warm, nice and plush. Lining inside is soft and comfortable. Enough space to sleep in different positions throughout the night. Packs up easily and reasonably compact. Very light.

good value for money! used it indoor, it is comfy and kept warm (however, it's not the warmest sleeping bag ever). wouldn't recommend it for very tall people (more than 180/185cm)
