This is the absolute Goliath of clothes airers. Standing at 2m tall with a span of 4m and 40m of hanging space it is large enough to hold 3-4 typical loads of washing or draping large items such as tents for drying or airing and is ideal for the larger family completing several wash-loads per day.Build-wise, it is the best I have seen and a complete contrast to all others I have used over the last 30 years. It is a substantial product with a good, solid build from its 165mm circumference stem to its arms, all of which are made from sturdy aluminium. Being a heavy-weight, stated as 7kg (but it feels heavier in use), it needs to be fitted into a concrete recess supported by the supplied plastic sleeve insert. If pushed into a sleeve-liner in a soft lawn then, due to the weight, it is likely to wobble in wind and eventually topple over - and you really wouldn't want this weight crashing down onto a child, window or garden furniture. However, once correctly fitted into a concrete base then it is completely stable in even the strongest gales and is secured via a clip from the sleeve which slips into a fixing on the stem for additional security.Opening it is like no other airer/dryer I have seen: a nylon lead is gently pulled at an upwards angle and the arms smoothly rise up the step and unfold revealing 9 rows of corded drying space plus 8 loops in which hangers can be inserted. Once open, for safety and security it then locks into place. As it opens, the canopy opens covering the entire airer making it ideally designed for the British climate where heavy showers are seldom far away throughout the year. This was tested on the Wales borders in July-August 2017 when we had some especially thundery showers beating down almost vertically, often without notice, onto the tough vinyl canopy and keeping the washing almost dry while the heavy rain pooled on the lawn surrounding it. This made it a godsend when no longer having to watch for showers and rush out at first sign before washing is quickly drenched - or avoid putting it out at all. The well-designed and highly practical canopy provides a very good degree of protection particularly for light rain, drizzle and usual British showers although when the rain sheets down from an angle, then inevitably the lower half of the laundry will get wet. However, the only way to prevent this would be to air washing indoors when it then loses the freshly-aired scent associated with outdoor drying. The canopy is also useful in preventing fresh washing becoming a target to birds flying overhead and, due to the angle of the canopy with its slippery sloping sides, birds cannot sit on it or soil washing and the presence of the canopy also keeps the nylon washing lines clean so there are no grey marks on washing. When not in use, pulling on the same nylon lead used to open the airer will close it and, as part of the closing process, the canopy folds around the arms of the airer for storage keeping it neat, tidy and clean whether removed from its slot in the garden or removed.Having used it almost daily for nearly a month, I have found the design to be impressive and highly practical due to its heavy-duty build, generous hanging space and the canopy which is perfect for our climate, particularly in all the wet weather we have endured while, had it arrived earlier during the heatwave, the canopy might also have had additional benefits in helping to prevent washing from fading in the sun. This is not the cheapest airer on the market but it has to be one of the most durable, long-lasting and best-designed and it is the type of product you will only need to buy once because I am confident this is going to last for many years and potentially a couple of decades.

If there`s one thing you`d think England would have produced years ago, it`s a outdoor dryer with a cover. However, I can`t imagine that many people would think the price is something that can be justified... well, there are some counterarguments that suggest the cost isn`t as crazy as it sounds.Firstly, this is incredibly well made. It`s very strong, without being too heavy. It is closer to having been "engineered" than any dryer I`ve used or seen before - whereas they normally end up as either a tangle of messy cords, and with a very weak metal stand that is easy to bend, not enough drying space, and badly designed base that means it`s often leaning precariously in a decent breeze.this is the opposite of all those things - it has so much cord to hang clothes from that you can easily hang a lot more clothing from it (four loads of washing, it claims). It has a very solid design for fitting it into the garden, so it is stable, and the way it can be put up or down ensure that there is no way of it getting all tangled.Secondly, I use my tumble dryer often. Partly because there aren`t many days you can trust the weather, and the fact normally it`s a pain to hang the washing out before work. Because this works so well, it doesn`t take as long to put out, and of course - the canopy! It`s awesome, really. Even if you just use the central area for clothing, it`s safe from anything but horizontal rainfall. The reduction in costs of running a dryer, and that this gives you a lot more months of potential usage, means that it will pay the cost back over a few years. Because this is such a well made dryer, it really does suggest something that will last a really long time.It can be closed and hidden under its sleeve too, if you like it to be less conspicuous. It`s such a simple idea to cover up the drying area, but allied to such a well designed mechanism made from strong materials, it`s a real gem of a dryer.

I’ve had other Leifheit products before and been impressed with their quality. This product follows on from that and I’m happy that this product is high quality and does exactly what you expect it to do.In this country you never can tell if the day is going to remain sunny and your clothes, drying outside on the line, are going to get caught in unexpected rain. That’s the real beauty of this washing line. It comes with a cover that means you can happily leave your clothes out drying while you go off to work, or wherever, and should there be a bit of summer rain, you won’t have to do the whole laundry over again. As soon as the line was out of the box, I was impressed to see a sturdy ground socket attached. It's specific to this product (or maybe Leifheit’s products in general) so I had to dig a new hole and cement it in before I could start using this line. I was happy to do so because the ground socket is sturdy and comes with a little lid to keep rain, dirt and snow out of it when you’ve got the washing line stored away in the shed. The washing line is easy to put up and easy to open with a pull cord. No faffing about. There’s enough space for up to 4 loads of washing including bed sheets and blankets. There’s even little hooks on the edges where you can hang clothes hangers, or I like to hang my peg basket and my little sock dryer. This washing line might be a little bit pricier than others but it really is worth every penny for that extra peace of mind and the time saved on re-doing loads of washing. If you’re in your forever home and want a decent washing line with good construction and a lot of extra benefits - I would highly recommend this one to you. 5 stars.

This is a fantastic product for those who got enough garden space for it. When fully unfurled, with some additional access space, at least 5 square meters are necessary, but since it can be neatly folded, it doesn't have to stay open all the time. This is basically one big parasol that has to be tightly stick into the ground and it has a locking mechanism that allows for the umbrella to be taken out and stored somewhere else, while the ground part stays where it is. This is a very practical solution for those who doesn't want the dryer to become a permanent garden feature. What really matters, apart from appearances, is that this is one exceptionally well made rotary dryer with around 40 meters of line and additional hooks for hangers. One load can nicely be spread around for good ventilation and apparently there's enough string for 4 loads - I don't think we will ever get to test that claim. Cover is waterproof and block the sun, so washing won't get wet if it rains and the colours won't fade. It is easy to put together, once the ground sleeve has been securely set (which will require some time and effort, but it is the most important thing to do). Lifting the canopy is easy, the whole thing opens up ready to go. It's not cheap, but the quality is great and for those with enough space, this is a good practical and functional solution.

Naturally we all need some assurance that the item we are about to spend twice the price buying will justify its investment. With this top of the line rotary drier, it's an easy recommendation. We purchased this unit in January 2018, we live rural central Scotland, an area guaranteed to produce precipitation and frustration in equal amounts. We are busy, wash day is inevitably Sunday, this drier ensures that almost every Sunday is wash day.Don't do a half job mounting it on some form of metal spear, its big, catches the wind and top heavy. Concrete it into a small hole in the ground, the shaft is robust and the frame superior to other premium brands which we have bought. This allows the unit to perform at its best and washing can be left out in heavy downpours with immunity. Admittedly we haven't used it in very high winds, but this is common sense. It can take 2/3 loads easily, though the worst case king size duvet cover is a challenge to hang, an issue for every other rotary. We are guilty of leaving the pegs out and the hood permanently up, saves time finding the bag etc. So far we have never experienced any troubles, though I suppose it's possible if you try hard enough...….This drier should have been invented for the British weather years ago. Don't agonise on the cost, it makes life easier....

If someone had told me I'd be impressed by a washing line, I would not have believed them. But this washing line is a completely different proposition from any other I have come across. It is, to begin with, enormous. The extra-sized span is definitely not suitable for use in a smaller outdoor space. The build is extremely robust, and this heavyweight line does need to be concreted in place. The cover is very smart in appearance. I was initially sceptical about how effective the cover would prove. Not perhaps so much at protecting my drying washing from the rain, but wouldn't the cover in shielding the laundry from the effects of UV also make drying a much slower process?Apparently not.I've not noticed any change to how quickly my washing dries... except that now I don't have to worry about bringing it in to avoid the UK weather. I'm running my tumble dryer a lot less, so this is saving on bills and better for the environment. A simple and brilliant solution.Barring the process of cementing the holder sleeve in place, this is very easy to set up and use. The large size means I can have several loads of washing drying simultaneously, instead of getting backlogged.

We love Leifheit products. We have one of their super light but remarkably robust ironing boards. Our old clothes dryer has seen better days so when this came up we knew we had to have it.The first thing, is the sheer size and build quality. This rotary clothes dryer literally towers above others (pun intended). This dryer is built to last and withstand the element. As some reviewers have already mentioned, this needs to be secured in concrete. Don't try to secure it into soil - it will eventually topple over. Space wise, this dryer is huge. There is plenty of cord/string which is of excellent quality. The arms feel sturdy too.The simple opening mechanism makes it easy to open the dryer as well as closing it.The canopy - why on earth hasn't anyone thought of this before? Not only does it protect your laundry from the elements but when folded up, it protects the dryer's arms and cords. Some real thought has gone into this rotary dryer. Is it worth £250? In terms of quality and design, we have no hesitation in recommending this rotary dryer. This will probably outlast us.

We use a rotary line which is well past it's replacement date. This would be easy to install in softer ground but our previous one was anchored in cement so it required some prep on our part and we re-anchored it.The design and build quality are superb, its very much a premium item that feels solid.A couple of neat features, the easy pull opener is exactly that and it's up in a jiff! This particular one accommodates up to four loads of washing but that depends on your loads! What I like about this is the canopy. Many a time my washing has been caught in a shower which is frustrating once it's almost dry. With the canopy there's no need to worry. It handily acts as a cover when folded down too.The vent in it's roof prevents it from being savaged or blown away by the wind! There are points for hangers and well, this rotary has it all really. Lots of line space, great design and looks as good as a rotary can up or down.Top marks!

Leifheit are, in my experience, a fine brand when it comes to various types of homeware - I have had a top quality mop, extendable window clenaer, and other products from them, and have found them to be well-researched, and most importantly, durable items. They are not the cheaperst, but, I go by an old adage - buy cheap, pay twice. Leifheit products are built to last. This rotary clothes dryer is an excellent product, and the incorporation of an umbrella so that clothes can be sheltered from showers, is inspired. My one criticism is this - it is mainly for use in gardens. There is no way, for example, other than drilling a hole in concrete, that the Rotary Dryer can be fitted on a concrete patio or back yard.If Leifheit made a bespoke stand for it for non-garden locations, I'd have given it five stars. It is well-made and would stay efficient for a long time, I am sure.

We have done this and it is very firm.Build.It is built to last for a very long time. Every part of it is quality and well-engineered. The opening and closing mechanism is smooth and positive. It folds when not in use.Overall.Excellent quality but comes at a price. It is well engineered and will last ages, it’s the best !

If you are looking for a quality, well made, long lasting rotary dryer then you are unlikely to find anything better than this. The price is high, but the build quality and innovation are well worth it. This needs to be secured in concrete, you do not want to lose something you spent this much on to a gusty day.The dryer is massive, strong and looks quality. The idea of putting the umbrella type cover over the top is simple but genius. The amount of times in the past we put the washing out on a sunny day and came back to a typical British downpour and this totally eliminates this issue.Again I reiterate the size of this thing, its really got a massive span. I love it!

This is a fantastic high quality item.Yes you will have to dig a hole and cement the ground socket into place but once the hard bit is out of the way you'll be good to go.so where to begin, the removable cover is excellent. Our washing line is near trees so instant cover from rain isn't the main problem but the local birds (whom we love) do occasionally like to deposit gifts - the cover resolves this! The quality of the build is really very good. Its not an overly heavy object but it just feels well designed and strong. The best feature is the secure- hold from the lift-off protection cap at the base.I would utterly recommend this.

I am madly in love with my new clothes line! I bought this because the wahing would be under an overhead wire and i wanted to protect it from bird poo . .and so far so good! Has to be concreted into the ground but once that is done you are off. Very sturdy, easy to use, takes loads of washing. Looks really nice. Folds down neatly and everything is protected and covered. Also love that it can just be lifted out of the ground and put away for the winter or during storms. Have left washing out in the rain and it is mostly protected . .the outside row may get wet if you have sideways rain like we do in Ireland!! Love it!!!

1.4.2019

The rotary drier is great, good strong make. It is easy to pull up using the string pull on the side. Perfect to stop anything dropping on your nice clean washing, also to keep the rain off. Not that much heavier than our old one. We are very happy with this dryer . We thought the price was a bit high but having used it for a few weeks now find it worth every penny. It was Bought to prevent bird droppings on the washing and sorted that out perfectly, but also do not have to wait in once washing out on the dryer in case of rain, as it keeps drying when the rain comes.

4.12.2017

This is a brilliant product. I have not yet had 8 loads of washing on it but the capacity is certainly there. In the inclement British weather it is also great that it effectively has an umbrella. I would just suggest that in order that it stops your washing getting any wetter best used with only a couple of loads of washing and pegged nearest the pole on the inside of the lines. An expensive addition to my laundry equipment but already I can see it was a sound investment, roll on summer when I can REALLY get my monies worth.
