A confession: I haven't seen the film!As a life-long fan of Lego I realised I had to buy it as soon as Lego announced that it was going to be released, simply because it looked so adorable. The box is surprisingly small compared to other Lego sets I've bought, and as others have mentioned the bags inside aren't numbered, which is a bit of a pain. If you buy this I suggest you open the bags, tip them onto a table (don't do them all at once!) and then sort the pieces into colours (black, dark grey, light grey, yellow...) and then re-bag them to make things a little easier to find. The caterpillar tracks are all in one bag together so you can leave them alone - you don't need them until about half way through the build. The build is split into three rough phases. You begin by making the body, which is essentially a yellow cube. Then you make the two caterpillar tracks and attach them. Next you build the head (my favourite part - some great building techniques are used here), and finally you make the arms, hands and plant. As there are 677 pieces it's not the biggest Lego build imaginable, but I split it over two evenings rather than rush it.The finished model is more of a display piece than a toy. The hands open, close and rotate, and the arms can rotate and move forwards and backwards. The plant is fixed inside the hand but can be removed. The tracks move (the model isn't powered) and work well on carpet. The neck can be placed in a variety of positions, moving the head up and down, forwards and back. The head is made of two sections and the "eyes" can be moved into different positions, changing WALL-E's expression, and the head rotates on a rather loose pivot. It's a little top-heavy, so if you lift WALL-E you'll probably make the head spin around! Finally the front of WALL-E's body is hinged so you can store things inside. One thing I particularly liked about this model was that there are no stickers! Lots of Lego models I've made have looked great on pictures, but when you get the kit you find a huge sheet of stickers inside and the end product rarely looks as good as the product image. I was concerned that the eyes would be stickers as would be the WALL-E logo and the meter on the front, but the logo and meter are printed blocks, and the eyes are just shiny black plastic. All in all it's a lovely model and it looks great in my lounge, standing on top of the stereo.

Great little model, especially if you are a Pixar fan. Wall-E can move his arms all over, open his claw hands, roll on his treads, and move his neck and head; he of course also has a front hatch that can be opened to store his precious little plant. But regardless of his moveable parts, he is more of a collector's piece than a real toy that little kids will actually play with after building. As for the assembly, this took me about 2 hours. The pieces are not in numbered bags, so a little bit of sorting is in order before you can really get started. There are a lot of small pieces and sharp attention to detail is definitely required in getting this guy together: experienced builders won't haveany problem but little kids and novices may want some adult oversight.I love that this model came from the Lego Ideas process, where designs are submitted online and voted on by fans, with the best put into production. Head to the Lego website and check out the Ideas program, it's inspiring! Remember to shop around, these Lego sets are collectible and once retired the prices climb steeply.

This is a fantastic kit and great value for money. Some lego kits around the £40 mark don't seem to have much going on these days. But this took me around 3 hours (going fairly slow) and I'd like to think I'm usually quite a speedy lego builder. The kit builds up from body to legs to head and arms. It's just so realistic! Really does look like the film, probably because it was designed by a gentleman at Disney who worked on the film himself.Any fan of the film would love this, as would any lego fan. Well worth the money. The tracks move when you run the model along the floor (on carpet anyway) and the arms, hands, head and eyes are all movable. He comes with the plant and his little cockroach friend which I think is the only bit of the kit which seems like an afterthought. A flat 2 and an antenna are not a cockroach! But that's my only complaint.Buy it!

i saw this in toys r us. i was so excited i just grabbed it and too it to the till to purchase. when i found out it was £42, i was highly hesitant to part with my money. the reason was because it was placed in the worng section of £12. so i went how and searched online. i managed to find it on here for about £5-7 cheaper.it was great to build. it borught back so many memories from when i use to play lego and build animals and trains etc. this is was really fun. however, i would have to say, the part where the head joins onto the neck is just a small section. the head can come off easy if you play aorund with it too much but i bought this to build for fun and proudly display it and it looks great.the instrustions we easy to follow. i did build this after work late at night so i was tired. i think i would estimate it took me between 2-3 hours to build.

Lego 21303 Ideas Wall E kitIf you are a Lego fan but not a Wall.E fan, a Wall.E fan but never had Lego, this is for you. At 7.5" high, 6.5" wide & approx. .5KG in weight, this is a substantial build. Advised at 12+ years, there is some fiddly, but not insurmountable tricky bits. If you have built Lego, you will be fine, but if it's your 1st kit, take your time & you will be fine. With rotating tracks, opening front compartment, separately poseable eyes, extending / retracting / hinged neck, movable arms & multi position "hands" there is so much fun to be had with the kit during AND after completion.Youtube link to MY assembly video - https://youtu.be/XOWr4sQkFDo

I got this for my 10year old daughter who wanted something a bit more challenging than the "Friends" sets. It's a really good set, a lot of thought has gone into its' design and it shows, everything just fits together so well to build quite a robust model that can withstand a fair bit of play. Yes his neck can be a little "floppy" during rigorous play sessions, but leave him on a shelf posed and he's fine. In total he took us both about 3 hours to build. One of the best Lego sets we've built together too - indeed I enjoyed building it far more than I should, tempted by the Millennium Falcon now !!.

WOW didn't Lego nail this one and I'm not surprised with it coming from the actually lads from Pixar, was such a fun build and bigger than I expected. For people having problems with the neck I made a quick video showing my simple fix for it.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iHUOMCkQJGshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HG9BCbOp1SUEven with the loose neck do not be put off by that, this is an amazing piece, also don't over tighten the gears in his threads, he'll move easier then.

A must-have for any Disney / LEGO fan and I happen to love both. His construction took between an hour and a half, and two hours. It was challenging at times (such as putting the treads together and in place) but highly enjoyable. The finished Wall-E is a decent size and looks excellent on display, its attention to detail is exquisite and will make a fine addition to your collection, whether its mostly LEGO based or - like myself - a general mish-mash of all that is awesome.

bought for girlfriend who loves the film and absolutely loves this. Only issue is the head is heavy and drops so does not pose. However after looking on line I found another buyer who used white plumbing tape to solve the issue by wrapping it inside the coupling. It works well. I have also seen a couple of youtube vids which show you how to add a lego motor......may be of interest to some who buy this item. Hopefully lego will bring out eva next. Great product.

Really not bad at all, although the head could be more self-supporting. I agree with some of the American reviews; when contacted about this prior to purchase, Lego UK suggested this was a batch problem only affecting a North American shipment, but no: the head won't really stay put. However, my son is delighted with it and has already motorised the catapillar treads with Lego Technic components.

Superb build. My most enjoyable set so far. It took me about 3+hours but was easy to construct. WALL E is a decent size once built (25cm tall by 20 wide) and looks Amazing! He's so lifelike I keep expecting him to move. He's very possible and his tracks work great. Amazing value for money. Amazing build so worth the 39 quid. Great waste of an afternoon and a lifelong ornament for the geek shelf!

It is a lovely product.I took a lovely evening putting together and now it has a pride of place.Niggles:The only annoying thing is that some of the block are clearly produced in a different factory so the yellow colouring is subtly (but noticeably to the careful eye) different. The head is a little bit heavy for the mechanism (well published). The tracks don't move smoothly.

First seen at legoland Windsor as one of those 'wish I had bought it when I saw it' items so was thrilled to find I could purchase it through Amazon when I got home. Brilliant kit which I enjoyed making even thou it took me three hours! Very realistic to the movie and worth every penny.Seller was prompt with dispatch and delivery so can't fault it at all.

Review-wise, there's nothing I need to say here that hasn't already been said, however, importantly, Lego have recently addressed the neck problem & have produced a service pack kit which I believe will be sent to all customers free of charge to fix a very floppy head! I am still awaiting the arrival of mine, but assuming it works, well done Lego!

Much more like using original Lego from when I was a kid. I had such fun building this model. It took about 6 hours roughly. It's simple to build and looks great as a display piece. I notice some people have commented on the neck but I don't see any issues with the neck on this one. It stays up well and poses perfectly.
