A book like this could have gone two ways. It could have been nothing more than a product catalogue for Lego, listing the sets they have made and telling you what they contained. Or it could have been yet another Lucasarts marketing tool - lots of glossy pictures of models of their iconic creation leaving you wanting nothing more than to go out and watch the films and buy more merchandise. Thankfully, the Lego Star Wars Visual Dictionary manages to avoid both extremes while incorporating elements of both.The book does work as a complete catalogue of all the sets in the Lego Star Wars line. There's a timeline in the first few pages giving pictures of every box and the date of its release.

This book was bought for my 7 year old who is Lego Star Wars mad. He loves minifigures and the fact that this has a limited edition one included makes it great value.The pages of the book are good quality, with clear photos of minifugures and the sets. There is loads of information on the sets, with a timeline at the front of the book to tell you when they were released and a bit more in depth information in the chapters. The information includes how many peices in each set and which film they appeared in. There are also 'brick facts' on most pages, with some interesting facts which my son loves telling people.

I had been waiting for a guide to the Lego Star Wars collections and thankfully one has arrived that delivers in almost all areas. The guide itself is well illustrated and is very up to date (includes sets that were brought out in August 2009)The 96 pages may not seem much considering the volume of lego sets/figures that have been churned out since 1999. However the pages are filled with each set, when it was released and its product ID. The layout is also by chronology (what sets were released and when) and by each film. it also provides a good insight (aka 'Brick facts') into certain characters.This book is not for those looking for 'what is the most rare, the most collectible',

Our little boy wanted Lego Star Wars people for his birthday - I read such good reviews of this that I got it to go with Darth Sidious, General Grievous, Darth Maul Anakin, Obi Wan and Princess Leia - it also did the job of providing Luke Skywalker too! I wasn't sure he'd be interested in a book - even a Lego Star Wars one, but he loves it and reads things out loud to us. They say that if you want to improve a child's reading, get them reading something they are really interested in, and this fits the bill nicely. Of course it does make them want every single blooming piece of Lego Star Wars! But he has enough to keep him happy for now. He is a bit too clever for the 'Dictionary'

This book is really essential to any LEGO star wars collector not just for the first aspect: EntertainmentBut for this one: its a guide.For example, the first 5 pages show every single set from 1999 to 2009 (now its 2011 but the book for me is still in use in many ways).let me tell you about the presentation.....the book will tell you a lot about the main characters such as obi wan ,anakin ...for instance take obi wan .The book will tell you about the different sets he has appeared in and all the different figures LEGO has made of him .but they do not do this for everyone all the other jedi are put on one page such asyoda,mace windu....Each page has a brickfact,something about this set or

I spent a while online looking at all the Star Wars dictionaries for my 5 year old. I was soooo pleased with this book when it arrived - and my partner was equally as excited... and we are not adult Star Wars enthusiasts!My son lives and breathes Star Wars and has recently got the hang of building intricate space ships with his older brother's lego cast offs. To a five year old who wants to know everything there is to know about Star Wars lego - this is the book! It is a great book visually, the flip sequences in the bottom corners of the pages are a nice touch - Luke with his light sabre and a Storm Trooper marching...

My son is five and we bought this for him last Christmas as he is mad on Lego and Star Wars. As the year has progressed he looks at it more and more - in fact, every night before we go to sleep - telling me that Father Christmas is going to buy him this set or that set...erm....how do you tell a five-year-old "you'll be bloody lucky"?!I'm 46 and I can certainly see the appeal of Star Wars Lego - after all I was a fan of the original film way back when I was 11.The book isn't quite as thick as you think - due to the packing for the minifigure, but is still immensely detailed and full of high quality photos and facts.Can't recommend this enough for sons (and Dads!).

I bought this for my son last Christmas. I've just come back to it on here to see if it suggested any similar titles for this year. There are probably two distinct audiences for this book - adult experts and children. My son is 5 and his obsession with Star Wars is matched only by his obsession with Lego. Suffice to say this book hit the mark. He has read it alone in bed after his stories virtually every night for what is coming up to a year and can practically recite the order with his eyes shut. The book is nicely done and has just the right level of detail (for an attentive and knowledgeable child, I can't speak on behalf of the real experts).

My son Peter loves Lego & Star Wars so the PS2 game is a firm favourite. When he saw this book in a shop he was immediately captivated. The book itself is big, bright & features extensive information on the versions of Lego released along with "brick data" about the variations & anomalies. The pictures are big & bold & he's not put the book down in the two weeks since it was delivered. So it may not be enough to satisfy the Lego/SW 'experts' and may feature a few errors or ommissions (I couldn't tell you myself as I'm not a fan!) but as a book for a child with a huge imagination, you can't go wrong.

Obviously I am talking about any kids who are Star Wars fans and the warning is directed to all parents. Why?? Because this book chronologically displays all SW lego sets so your children who most probably do not own everything produced in the range will be drooling when they see what's out there. Apart from that there are images of characters and their matching vehicles, lots of information and tons of pictures. This equates to hours of fun for your child endlessly pouring over this book. My son is 7-8 and does not appear to be tiring of it anytime soon.

If you like Star Wars and are obsessed and love Lego you will adore this wonderful book! Every model Lego has produced on the Star Wars Theme over the last ten years or more is presented here including some of the rarer models such as The Death Star and The Millenium Falcon.The models are beautifully photgraphed and the informative notes and descriptions are very helpful and interesting.I would recommend this book for both kid's and adults but obviously would make an ideal gift for any fan of Star Wars or Lego.

My sons age 5 and 6 love Lego Star Wars so I decided to purchase them both the book. It is comprehensive and full of upto date Lego releases which both boys find amazing. The pictures are big and come with 'brick data'for each model; and for my boys that all important minifigure information. Both boys are have not put down the book since they received it as a christmas gift. A large wonderful, colourful book with a limited edition minifigure.I would recommend to anyone young and old who love Lego Star Wars.

This book is really good because it tells you lots of Lego sets but it's also a bit like a visual dictionary on the actual movies and Clone Wars. It gives you diagrams on the Lego sets it shows you and some pages are dedicated to one specific set. It gives you a time line of all the sets from 1999 to 2010. It shows the different versions of models and tells you what characters and models are unique to specific sets.All in all this is a very good book. The exclusive mini figure is really good too.

I bought this for my 4 year old son's birthday as he is Star Wars mad. He loves it! I think it was possibly one of his best presents. He looks at it daily. The text is understandable for him, when read to him, and he can look at the pictures for ages, pointing out features that interest him. A brilliant book. For me, it's lacking a little more content on the characters of the older 3 films. (maybe that's because i'm old!!) A brilliant book for lego fans and Star Wars fans alike, of all ages.

I purchased this book for my very knowledgeable children (how do they know so much about all this). They rate it as 10 out of 10. I have no interest in Star Wars but rate Lego highly. I have to admit that the book is brilliantly presented, nicely detailed and a genuinely good read. The 'exclusive' Luke Skywalker minifigure is a real treat although I understand that the one being supplied now differs to the one originally supplied in 2009 books (eyes).
