Anyone familiar with the lego games will know what to expect: you play through the game in story mode, then you play through again in free play where you can use characters' different abilities to access areas you couldn't before.Yes, the puzzles are basic and so is the combat but that makes it accessible to all... and it's also not the point. It's a collectathon of a game, exploring every nook and crannie until you've unlocked absolutely everything. That is the appeal of the games and in this case, it's flaw:To unlock most of the extras and characters in the game requires studs (money) which can be helped when you purchase score multipliers. These are expensive extras but once unlocked, they make your life easier. This would be great if it were like the console versions of the game where these multipliers are cumulative so that, once you've overcome the hurdle of getting two multipliers, you suddenly get rich very quick and allowing you to finish the game before you've gotten sick of it. On the DS version, you can't combine multipliers, so getting money takes much, much longer. You'll find yourself having to replay levels over and over, long after you've discovered everything in them, just to make some cash. For example, I had a 2x, 4x and 6x multiplier with 12 million studs needed to unlock the outstanding power bricks, plus about 1m needed for the remaining characters. Replaying the final level seems the easiest way to make cash and using the 6 x multiplier earns around 500,000 studs each time. To unlock the 10x multiplier -the biggest in the game - requires 5m studs so I have to play the same level 10 times to save up enough. That leaves me with 8m more studs to save. I now earn 700,000 for each replay but I still have to pay a further 12 times to save up: that's 22 times replaying the same level that you've already played to death. If only could combine those accumulates, 2 x 4 x 500,000 would have earned 4m in one go (enough to earn the 8x multiplier). If I played it again with the 8x multiplayer, I'd be up a further 32m and done: that's hours of dull repetition saved.Instead, you end up hating the game you once enjoyed. Now, this may seem a minor gripe but when the emphasis is on unlocking everything, making it so tedious to get it all turns it into a big gripe. In other comments, the limits of the DS mean that the cut scenes are so basic they fail to carry the standard lego humour which is understandable but a shame. The red brick extras are also pretty uninspired with only a handful being any use: additions to later games such as the red brick detectors and mini kit detectors are a big miss. The mini game extras are also dull but necessary to finish in order to complete the game.I do like this game, though, honest! I have found it enjoyable. You certainly get plenty of hours' play out of it... the only trouble isit's more than you want!

I picked Lego Star Wars - The Complete Saga up at the end of June as a little treat for myself. Having played a few "serious" games that sapped away time and days, I felt I wanted to play something light hearted. It was only £8 and being a big fan of Star Wars and playing with Lego as a child it did draw me in. I thought it would be movie to video game trash but I was hugely mistaken. My niece loves this game and I'm sure my nephew will too.I would sum the game up as a lazy Sunday afternoon. A James Bond marathon on ITV. Yes we have seen it a thousand times but we still find enjoyment from it. Lego Star Wars is the same. Its highly enjoyable, pokes fun at itself during the cut scenes and is pretty addictive at times.Age is not an issue as children and adults can pick this title up and find it easy and straight forward to play, in fact you will probably find they play it better than you, which is a source of major frustration. With a mix of character only episodes or vehicle episodes (these are excellent) there is plenty to do and each have their own mix of puzzles and fight scenes.Having the full score (yes the full score) of all six movies is brilliant and enhanced my enjoyment further. I found myself playing the game as it was played out on the silver screen. When Luke fires the torpedo and flies of straight away from the Death Star, I instinctively did the same! Or when the Millennium Falcon evades the Imperial Fleet, you find yourself pulling the same maneuvers along with the score! Each Episode is broken into 6 chapters and you get to play the major highlights and turning points of those movies. In terms of extra's there is plenty with the opportunity to buy extra characters or make 2 of your own, upgrades/power ups which can be used during the game with no detriment to completing a level or chapter, helpful hints or items (such as gold bricks) which help you complete the game to 100% completion. Each level has a certain amount of replay value but can at times become monotonous. A big part of the game is collecting not only lego studs (the games money) but also mini kits. These allow you to build vehicles that can be used in different levels. There is also a challenge mode which allows you to go back to a chapter and collect 10 blue mini kits in the quickest time possible. This I feel was the only let down of Lego Star Wars. There was no variation in the challenges and proved to be a source of boredom. The online feature is fun to but really only in the vehicle partsI enjoyed it for a Sunday's afternoon gaming and is a bargain for the size of the levels and extra's you get.

Even though it seems like a wacky idea, Lego Star Wars was a successful product in many ways.Regarding the game itself -- as in, "gameplay-wise" --, it has its flaws, it may have a few glitches and camera problems. But those problems are easily overlooked by the game's charisma!First of all, it's not supposed to be a challenge! You'll never see a game over screen or respawn at a last checkpoint. Instead, you'll just revive at the same spot -- or at an edge close-by in case of a fall -- with a lower score, this one determined by the total value of lego STUDS -- coins, basically. So even those weird bugs or bad-timed jumps are tolerated by the less experienced or less skilled players, since there's no need for skill at all.But for a "non-challenging" game to be successful, it needs something to "pull the player into playing it". And that's where the charisma comes in.Mixing the loveable and cute image of LEGO and the cult and fiction of Star Wars, the game resumes the story quite accurately, but with very noticeable changes to make it unique and, most of all, "LEGO-ISH" -- cute and funny:Legos don't speak, so catchphrases were replaced by very intelligent and humorous moments which, just like the great movies, shouldn't be spoiled. Naturally, most of the puns will only be completely understood by people who watched the movies, but since it's a joy to see on its own, it's also a great way to understand the magic of Star Wars in a funny, child-friendly and non-violent way! Because Star Wars isn't about violence or the horrour of war, but a cult epic which is a joy to see and hear! It's simply engaging! So Lego Star Wars is a family entertainment product for both fans of Lego and Star Wars, because it may not be the best game, but it's a good game with unique moments to see!Regarding the service by Amazon in terms of shipping this game, I must say it was immediate and accurate. The game was new and worked perfectly on the PS3!

The overriding feeling you get while playing this game is that it was created by people who love both Lego and Star Wars. If you're the same, then you'll love this game. The controls and gameplay are relatively simple, allowing you to progress through the game at a speed that avoids frustration, but still keeps you interested. There are some shortcomings though: The first is friendly "fire". In 2-player mode, in the heat of a battle, it's all too easy for you and your player partner to end up blasting each other. This gets old fast, and there's no way to disable friendly fire, like there is in most 2-player games. The second is the lack of split screen - you and your player partner are limited to the visible screen area and, particularly if you're playing with a less experienced player, you can often end up in a screen "tug-of-war" where you're each trying to go in different directions. It seems the designers eventually relised this, as the Lego Harry Potter games have a very clever "dynamic" split screen that seems to solve the issue (although I've only played that game briefly). Also, given the forced 3D perspective, it can sometimes be difficult to judge jumping between platforms, and it's often all too easy to fall out of the game world to your doom. Finally, given the Lego theme, it's sometimes a shame when you see some spaceships or environments *not* made of Lego that really ought to have been. Similarly, I think the designers were a bit lazy with the massive Star Destroyers, as these are only made from a handful of pieces and look nothing like the massive (and expensive) Lego model you can actually buy.Overall though, it's a great fun blast, and I would particularly recommend it for younger players, grown-up gamers with children.

If you like the Star Wars films and are into your gaming then you will like this. Primarily aimed at kids but i'm over 40 and thought this was great fun. I suppose it helps if you know the story of the films because you get to play most of the memorable scenes in the films which are given a comedic twist to them. The game is not too difficult so kids won't get bored if they get stuck on any level as you have infinite lives, when you get killed you just respawn again in the same place. The challenge in this game is to get all the hidden or hard to reach treasures like minikits and lego blocks which build towards getting 100% completion of the game. You can do this by finishing a level then going back into the level on free play which allows you to play as other characters which each has its own ability to help you collect things you couldn't get in the story mode. The story mode is a long enough game in itself but the free play adds so much more playing time and also a bit more challenging. The graphics are ok, i believe it was a PS2 game before so probably had a tweak here and there. Not as good graphically as Lego Pirates of the Caribbean but then that is a much newer game.My only gripe about Star wars Saga is that the levels where you are in a vehicle can be difficult to do without getting blown to bits frequently, you get to respawn as usual but to get all the extras on those levels is almost impossible especially the True Jedi status by collecting 100% stud count.Overall a great game for kids and adults, not overly taxing but fun and 2 player as well. So give it a go and may the force be with you.

This game is extremely well suited to the DS (unlike most of the others allegedly designed for it).- Once you've passed the first chapter of Episode I, all episodes are unlocked. No getting stuck and having nothing to do!- The mini games mean that at least as much use is made of the bottom screen as the top. There're also mini stylus games throughout the main gameplay.- Simple system for operating your characters and you can swap characters to use different powers both in story mode and in free play.- It literally is impossible to die permanently. You lose lego credits if you die, but once you get to 0, you're just reborn automatically. Also doesn't matter if you kill your partner by mistake!- The free play mode means you can play as pretty much any character you like (provided you've bought them at the bar). I'm playing as Count Dooku at the moment. Awesome. And yes, you can play as Yoda! Although Han's backward blaster firing has to be the coolest thing ever.- Although the levels aren't that challenging to complete, you can go back over them in free play mode to find the mini game bricks and other extras with other characters. This is an involving, well though out game with lots of mileage and little frustration potential. Totally suitable for all age groups and abilities.Oh, and you can destroy Jar Jar in the Cantina. That's got to be a winner..!

I've fancied this game for a while, so lucky me when my birthday came around- i had this as an extra present, and thanks to a free trial of amazon prime, i had the game the next day.To be fair, it is MASSIVE and i mean that. The levels are huge (6 films split into 5 parts each) and take a good 15-20 mins on story mode to complete (longer on free play), along with tons of mini games, characters, cutscenes and fantastic music. So, what's the problem? One of the major things is the cutscenes- they're like lego- stiff. I have to admit that i've been spoilt by indiana jones because it was, although not perfect, a lot more polished and run smoothly. In some strange way,it adds to the charm of the game and makes the scenes more enjoyable. However, someparts are cut out, so even with the description at the begining of each part, it can be a bit difficult to follow if you're not a fan of the films. Also, the games has a lot of glitches. I,ve been through walls, fallen through floors and the game has frozen on me right at the end of a level, meaning all my hard work has gone.Despite all this, i love it- it's fun and enjoyable. You can clearly tell it's an earlier game, but it's such a joy to play and anyone can play without too much trouble. For the price it is at the moment, get it- you won't regret it!

Lego Star Wars for the DS is a fun filled game that will provide a challenge while at the same time not prove so demanding that you will never get the chance to complete the game. After completing the first mission all levels are unlocked and you are free to play any of the 6 episodes you wish. Some characters are available from the outset while others become available on the completion of the various levels. (providing you can afford them at the bar)Mini games provide a worthwhile distraction as does the ability to replay completed missions with any character in your inventory. This will allow you to pick up the red bricks and mini kits you may have missed on the first or second time round.Although I was initially hooked I do feel this game is limited in two respects:1.It is very easy to complete the missions.2. Once completed it didn't leave me wanting to go back and complete each mission to 100%. Yes it is fun to select your own choice of character for free play but this novelty soon wears of.All in all this is a good game and I feel it is probably one of the better games I have played on the DS. The ability to play with all the characters of the Star Wars series and fly some of the ships and a unique use of the touch screen allows, in my opinion, for a solid 4 stars.

Bought this as a stocking filler for my little lad's Christmas. Suffice to say we could have saved about £500 by just buying him this and nothing else, he absolutely loves it. At just 4 I feel he's too young for the real film and although pretty much the entire story is within the game, because it's Lego characters and a Lego world, it's so much more appropriate for a little chap (or chap-ess) to experience. There's some cracking humour which the adults will enjoy and lots of variation too.As a game I have to say it's really quite good. Plenty of different levels and chances to act out some of your Star Wars fantasies (not that I have any, obviously,I'm far too grown up for all that....ahem).The camera angles are a bit out sometimes and this can make small elements of the game very challenging but overall great entertainment. My little lad will be five in two weeks and until he had this game he had never held an X-box controller in his life but mastered it in no time. Highly recommended for the budding gamer, just be warned he/she might become a bit Star Wars crazy after. I recently found myself acting out a light sabre duel against a tiny person wielding a cardboard tube liberated from the tin foil... you have been warned!

I have played lego star wars, batman, indiana jones and harry potter and this one is my favourite. I am 26 and an average gamer, not serious; just enjoy playing on my DS and the end of the day. This game provides enough of a challenge but is still quiet easy to complete. If you get stuck you can go to other levels and complete a different world then come back. These are lots of characters to unlock (unlike in Indiana Jones where you get 10 different Indiana's), my favourite is Darth Maul with his dual light saber. You get to play through all 6 episodes and unlock characters from all of them, either through completing the level or by purchasing them. You then get to use a whole host of characters in the free play option to find hidden rooms. The movie clips are great and have so much humour in them, especially if you have seen the original movies; it's a fantastic take on them. The only down side to the game is the number of times/hours I played it - trying to get all the studs to unlock all of the characters/mini games. In the end I had to sell the game in order to play some others. This is a great addition to any nintendo DS collections and I would thoroughly recommend it.

Lego Star Wars is a simple yet fun game that is best played in small chunks rather than all in one go. This is mainly because each level has you doing essentially the same things again and again just with different characters. If you are playing the game on your own, don't rely on the AI of your team mate(s). They fire at the enemies but do no damage. However, if you do die, there is not too much frustration since you will just respawn instantly in more or less the same place that you died. Some may find that this makes the game too easy, but it is realy designed for all ages. The main criticism that can be levelled at the game is the frequent screen tearing. You cannot go through a level in this game without seeing this happen pretty much all the time. It does not ruin the game, but the overall presentation is let down by this technical issue. To summarise, this game is worth getting if you're a Star Wars fan and/or have young kids. The game does a good job of translating key moments from the films into the Lego universe, but some people may find the game a little too repetitive.

I bought this for my 5 year old son when he first got his DSi.First of all it's fantastic value for money. He's a great Star Wars fan but I thought this lego version would be more suited to his age than the other Star Wars DS game available. He absolutely loves it. I'd tell you about all the different levels that he's been able to unlock, the many different characters that he plays and all about the mini games but truth be told it's all beyond me and far too complicated for a middle aged mum. What I can say is that I'm amazed at what he can do on it and what he's taught himself to do. 6 months on and he's still discovering new things, tricks and exciting adventures. It keeps him amused for hours. It does provide him with a good challenge but it's not so difficult that he gets frustrated. He gets the reward of completing missions and he also thoroughly understands the Star Wars saga now and role plays what he's done on the DS when I finally manage to get it off him and he goes out for normal play. I can't recommend this enough!

I am a big a Star Wars fan and for me this is one the best games that I have for the DS and I own a lot of excellent DS games. The graphics are brilliant and playing through all six Star Wars film is a real blast. The lego humour will have you laughing throughout the game. There are 30 levels in total which have been created especially for the DS which includes some fun touch screen action. If you have a friend with a DS and a copy of this game then you can have a ball of a time playing through all the levels together. There are loads of different Star Wars characters for you to unlock and you can mix their heads and body parts up. The different class characters can access different areas of each level.I like being a Jedi the most for combat as they hit laser-beams back at the baddies and use the force to throw them out the way. The Hoth level with the AT-ATs is great fun and there are some good minigames too.Even people that don't like Star Wars very much will enjoy this great DS game.

Lego starwars is a great game, The multiple sagas, various difficulties and imensly entertaining gamplay will keep any gaming freak happy for hours. Like the other lego games the game benefits from progressive difficulty, meaning that even the newest players will enjoy the early stages without getting too frustrated. The game utilises the same co-operative multiplayer as with all lego reincarnations of classic films. This makes for fantastic gameplay with friends or if your child needs a helping hand.Starwars is the best lego incarnation to date, the stages arent to long but the numerous saga's means it will keep you playing for hours. The mini-games add to the benefit of the game and as a result make it well worth the money! The downside is like with all lego games the camera angle, its side on view makes for some frustrated gameply but its minimal in this game, its definatly more responsive. This game is well worht the money, throughly enjoyable and entertaining to the Nth degree.

As the title of the review suggests, this is probably one of the best games for DS, aside Nintendogs, Mario Kart, Super Mario Brothers and Animal Crossing. This is a fun, challenging game that requires thinking and fast reactions, ok, so the graphics aren't brilliant the secuirity panel minigames are quite hard. But apart from these two annoying things, the game is brilliant. I have played the PS2 version but this is different. When I first got it my sister hated the look of it, but now i have trouble prising it from her grip. I have four things to say about this game:1.Buy this game.2.If you get stuck on the deflection minigame (I did) just practice alot (This worked for me.)3.On the level named cloud city trap, the red brick is in the chandeleir in the room with the table in it , you have to shoot it to get it out. I put this hint here because that red brick was the hardest to get.4. Buy this game. Thanks for reading.
