Bought at RRP of £59.99. [Minor Spoilers Below]I'll admit when I first saw this in the movie I was taken aback by the strange design. It seems to have its origins in the B-Wing design, though the designers said it was inspired by the Chinooks from today. Either way, its a unique and odd-looking craft that Lego have done a great job recreating. We see this in The Force Awakens when the Resistance show up following the destruction of Maz Kanata's castle by the First Order.Starting with the minifigures, then. We get a Resistance Soldier who is a duplicate from the Resistance Battle Pack, and another Resistance figure who has a torso piece without the chest-rig overlay that the others have. This reveals a nicely-printed Rebel Alliance logo from the old days, and is a nice detail. Both figures come with blaster rifles and very well-detailed helmets with movable face-protection pieces. These are some great sculpted pieces from lego, though they do make the figures look a little top-heavy. In terms of recreating the Resistance designs, Lego do a great job here as expected. Moving onto the more interesting figures though, we get Admiral Ackbar who comes with a brand new body and leg design to match the new Resistance designs, and his head is a carefully-moulded and, again, well-printed piece. He comes with a small pistol and coffee mug as accessories. Finally, General Leia rounds off the team. A suitable addition, given we first see her in the film getting out of this transporter. She comes with her new uniform colourfully represented and sports a small pistol too for protection. Her face has just enough detail to capture the look of the older Leia and her hairpiece has a nice faded-tan colour to it that works well. If you turn her head around you can have the choice of a relaxed or angry expression to choose from.Overall, we get a very appropriate and useful set of figures in this set, and it should go without saying with Lego figures that you know you're getting quality pieces here. Detailed printing and high quality moulds are found across the board. Moving onto the ship itself, the build was a surprising one in that it actually was far more complex than I anticipated and used a lot of methods and techniques that are rarely found on the smaller sets. This is definitely one that older or more serious builders will appreciate, and it'll give younger kids a better challenge and more-rewarding build than they are perhaps used to! There are instances of building along the sides that aren't common outside of advanced sets so there is definitely a great deal of fun to be had building this, and it has a very good weight and feel to it once you're done. It may look a little small, but it definitely has a good size to it in person and the build is sturdy allowing for easy play by kids.As usual, the numbered-bag system breaks the build into smaller components allowing you to focus on specific parts of the craft at a time while it all slowly comes together. This keeps you focused and prevents you getting lost in a big sea of bricks. This is without doubt one of the best features of Lego sets over rival brands! The only thing that really slows down the build is the stickers - and there are *a lot* of them here, 17 total. That is the biggest amount I can ever remember getting in one set and it is a bit of a pain applying them all and it definitely adds time to your build. I feel Lego could have given us *some* printed pieces instead of these, though they are pricier. The ship opens up at the front for your troops to jump out and has plenty of space inside to house about 8 figures - this really doesn't lie when it says its a troop transporter There is also the cockpit at one side which you can pop a figure into, and the other end features some defence cannons. If you combine this set with the Resistance Battle Pack you'll have a fully kitted-out transporter ready to engage the First Order with. This definitely makes that battle pack the perfect supplement set or present to anyone who has got this one. The roof of the craft also opens up for access making it very easy to access the entire interior. Inside you get some seats, some computer consoles and a couple of clips to store weapons. This is a well-used space that is quite tight but still packs in a ton of features and space to store figures. Lego do also include two of the more powerful spring laser pieces and they are exceptionally well-hidden so adult collectors or anyone wanting this for display won't be put off. They are tougher than the stud-shooters and care should be taken when kids play that you avoid eye contact as they do fire out with a good intensity. As usual, Lego provide warnings for this.To conclude, I must say I am delighted with this set. It is a unique ship, but is very-well built, very sturdy and has a great amount of detailing to it. The interior has enough space for a whole heap of figures, with some stuff to do, and the whole thing opens up well-enough to let you easily access this. The spring-fire lasers add some play value too, and the minifigures are a suitable and decent mix for filling up the craft. Another great job by Lego, this is a great set and a perfect way to add some bulk to your Resistance forces!

I bought this witHout the figures to go with a base I've been building with my son. It's a great set. My son aged 7 and a half managed to build it with only a couple of helping tips from me despite it being a very intricate build. It took us about an hour and a half over two sessions but he really enjoyed it.The finished article is great - one of the most well thought out/designed lego models I've seen. It's very sturdy when complete and surprisingly heavy. There are some very neat functions - the accurate front acces door/ramp and opening split lid for easy access to the interior. Also there is a neat mechanism to release the cockpit hatch. We have paired it with set 75164 (rebel troop battle pack)and a pilot we purchased individually on eBay to create a full crew ready for adventures. Loads of fun :)Read full review...

No longer "X"cited by X-Wings? "TIE"red of TIE Fighters? The Resistance Troop Transporter may not have had all that much screen time, but it's a nice design that both looks good and makes a satisfying model. Unlike some LEGO models in the series (I'm looking at you, TIE Fighters!) there is not too much repetition. This does mean older children should find it a more satisfying build. Conversely, younger ones might need a bit of help. Highly recommended.

Great modular engine pods at each side. Use a couple of sets to create your own designs. How about one with two cargo areas for a super wide ship. The minifigs are equally good.Well why do spaceships have to have the long axis from front to back? There is no aerodynamic reason. Although thrust at the ends could lead to unequal rotational force and a spinning ship

Brilliant build, the set contained some really great building techniques. The minifigures are well design and the ship is very detailed.Would recommend buying the Resistance Battle Pack along side it to bulk out the troops!

My 8 year old boy loved it and took quite a while to build the thing. As always with Lego, the price is like it is made of gold, but the quality is very high and the kids do play with the kits for a while.

Brilliant, medium sized ship with spacious interior. Only minor issue is that access to the cockpit area is moderately difficult, as well as posing the pilotVery good set all together

Excellent as I would expect from Lego, the instructions were clear and very well organised. And my son loves it too!

It was good value, but then again there was no box or instructions. However, there were 5 pieces missing...

Very complicated build but worth it when its finished, could have done with a few more figures
