This is a really complex and substantial multipart toy. It includes a set of action figures plus two main toys to construct and send into battle. At nearly 1000 pieces, many of them very small, substantial adult assistance would be required for most nine-year-olds to put this together. The suggested age range is 9 to 14 years, and given the time, patience and ability to follow instructions required for successful assembly, it’s probably more realistic to consider this a toy for children in the upper part of that age range.That said, once assembled the toys are wonderfully interactive with a number of different actions and settings to play with and explore. When I was younger all you had was a bucket of bricks and your imagination, now it seems that you need an engineering degree. Well, that's what I initially thought when I opened the box. 6 numbered bags and a thick instruction manual detailing the 200 steps you need to follow to complete this toy.This is a great challenge for a young person (age target is 9-14 years), but it will need to be carefully targeted to the right mind. It will be ideal for someone with patience and determination to see it through to the end. The step by step picture manual is pretty easy to follow with detailed images on what to connect and where. The numbering of the bags is a help as bag 1 completes the crab with 2 to 6 being the main jet and characters.

A challenge for the grandchildren? Well, not too much because the instruction book explains it all with beautiful graphics. This model has the benefit of having seven numbered bags of parts so that the kids start on bag one and slowly work through them until bag seven and some bags have additional bags inside with small pieces. It's not just a static model either, the cockpit opens, the disc on top can be spun from a lever under the model, adjustable wings and the front has a long bullet-like projectile that can be fired. A nice touch were the six mini figures and a smaller model crab with moveable legs and it fires very small round clear studs (and unfortunately small enough to lose in most carpets).Our box had no missing pieces (there are 876)

My boys loved putting this set together, though my 8 year old struggled with it. As the kit is 9-14, this is perhaps not unreasonable. This is not by any means a simple kit together. There's a lot of pieces, in a lot of bags - 7 in total. It's an impressive feat of engineering and a gives a real sense of accomplishment on completion.It has lots of spiky bits on it when complete too, and is likely to have those bits knocked off when played with. It's also very difficult to store anywhere when built. It's huge and fragile. I fear this is one of those kits that will soon end up in pieces in the LEGO box. Which is all well and good, but sometimes feel like a waste of everybody's time and money.The kit itself is very impressive when built.

Another great Ninjago set from Lego. It fits in with the up-coming movie. My 9 year old managed to build this within four hours and it looks very good. He especially loves the mini-figures. He thought it was a little challenging as it has many small parts and some intricate bits. However, he did ask his brother if he was unsure. The build itself is brilliant. The set is collectable in the sense some characters are specific to the movie only. My son collects mini-figures and he was chuffed to have the new movie characters.The Lightning Jet is easy to play with and has a cockpit and rotating disc and spring-loaded shooters. So, any child can re-enact the movie scenes.

Lego have produced this Lightning Jet Toy under the very popular NInjago brand.It is all linked to a TV show. There has also been books about NInjago -so a wide coverage!The Ninjago has in a sense been re-booted although utilising elements from the series,but also with new characters and linked to the TV series and fresh stories.The primary characters in this product are Ed, Edna, Jay, Crusty, Jelly and Shark.They can be used to create your own tales and placed in the Jet.The Lightning Jet is easy to handle, has a spring loaded shooter -to unleash on the dreaded shark armyand avoid the crab!Following the instructions they are fun to assemble and are a terrific gift for young boys.

Bought this for my 4.5 year old to use as a toy, not to build (they dont make normal action figures). It is great and a lot bigger than it looks! Really fun to build but a tricky kit. I've built the dragon, water strider and fire mech over the past few months and this was by far the most technical. It took about 3hrs but that was post Christmas lunch with a full belly! Seems pretty robust and son absolutey loves it! Any bits which do get inadvertantly knocked off by my marauding 2 year old are easily put back on. Great stuff!!

This Lego set ties into the Lego Ninjago Movie. There are a number of other sets available in this range, and constructing them all can re-create a little bit of Ninjago city and the movie for you. No Lego Meowfra yet as far as I know... My son was very impressed with the Lightning Jet. He particularly liked playing with it, and the design which does include quite a few lightning elements. A bit fiddly to build, I had to help my son. Sturdy once together and it has withstood a number of Garmaddon vs Ninja battles!

Another cracking set for my Ninjago-obsessed son. A little tricky to assemble, especially with all those antennae sticking out and lots of very small pieces to keep track of, but great fun to play with and accompanied by plenty of mini figures too. The cockpit opens, it fires things, there's a little crab vehicle thing which fires things too, what's not to like?!You will definitely need to have a patient child or adult assistance to put this together, but once you have it's a great toy
