When I received this in the post I was unfamiliar with the Lego Ninjago scene or TV series but could not wait to construct this apparent beast of a Lego project. I definitely do consider this a prestige Lego kit despite (initially) being unfamiliar with Ninjago (I did watch some episodes afterwards to familiarise myself with the minifigs and what the Dieselnaut is) the comparison I made was to larger space ships my parents bought me and my brother as children for Christmas.There are all the standard Lego pieces but a number of pieces specific to this set, it takes time to construct and without question will require supervision from an adult if it is someone younger building it.It is difficult to generalise, perhaps, but I think younger builders could simply get bored and start building as their imagination takes them, which is fun too I guess but there are pretty clear and concise building instructions. The instructions are the traditional Lego type, pictorial format, so all it takes is getting the pieces all arranged out before you and then its possible to proceed pretty quickly. I think its a great idea for family time to build this together and have someone working on one major part of the Dieselnaut while someone works on another part.Something I will say is that the pictures of the vehicle and minifigs could give the impression that once this is built you can use the turrets etc. and have it swerving, playing battles with the minifigs and it wont fall apart. Its not completely fragile but its still lego. Lift it by the front or back or without the appropriate care and it will start to break apart. I suppose that possibly you could introduce some superglue into things to avoid this, at which point its necessary to decide if this is going to be a permanent display project or will you want to have it for repeat constructions (which is the plot of the entire Lego movie pretty much).This is closer to being Lego technic, although it does not have remote control features or piston features or other complexity, than, for instance, Lego city sets. I am glad that there are include a complete set of minifigs as I am absolutely certain that any younger builders would otherwise have wanted to get these straight away when the building was finished to commence with games recreating the action of the TV series. The target market for this is obviously going to be fans of the Ninjago series but I would say that if you are just a fan of Lego and enjoy the construction projects that will take a little longer, like me, then you will definitely enjoy this set too. Recommended.

I offered this to my seven year old, pretty bright grandson to assemble and play with, and was impressed at how he settled down to work through the bags numerically, after carefully reading the manual/brochure book/instructions. He reckoned I was amazing to have got hold of such a new set, he already knew the 'story' it was telling from the LEgo magazines, and the films, so fully understood the concept.The set has everything we have come to associate with Lego: age-appropriate challenge, outstanding instructions and high quality materials.The key thing to consider with this set is the level of detail - or ‘fiddliness’- in both building and maintaining the Dieselnaut set.Lego at this level is always somewhere between toy and model, and my grandsons are then very much minded to use their completed Lego sets for imaginative games, rather than simply sitting and admiring their work!Because of the detail in this set, the build time is quite considerable. In our case we took our time with about an hour a day for four days, but this will vary depending on the child’s skill level and the amount of help given. As ever it is critical to keep the Lego pieces organised and protected during the build, and the set comes with 9 well thought out packets to help this. We had a few nervy moments when pieces seemed to be missing but with careful hunting we found everything.The set comes with 7 Lego mini figures which make the finished product an excellent toy for imaginative play, with one warning that will be familiar to experienced Lego technicians: the Dieselnaut set is very, very delicate with lots of small pieces operating on all sides. This means that it is not simply a robust vehicle. In plain English, parts will come off if the Dieselnaut unit if used without a lot of care.With that warning in mind, I am happy to recommend this set to patient, careful Ninjago and Lego fans. My grandson felt real pride in finishing the set and he learned a lot in process of working on something patiently over a few days. If operated with care, the Dieselnaut’s moveable and detachable features, along with the excellent mini figures, make this a high quality set.

The Ninjago Dieselnaut is large and takes a commanding position in any child's bedroom. The targeted age range is spot on, although a younger experienced Lego builder would be able to build this with some assistance.This build has many intricate pieces and takes sometime to build. The end result is this awesome Dieselnaut which fits in with the new Ninjago series. It comes with seven minifigures which are; Jay, Zane, Iron Baron, Heavy Metal, Muzzle, Skullbreaker and last but not least Teen Wu. The Teen Wu looks cool and is pretty rare for a Lego mini-figure collector like my son.This is a great set and should be on any Lego Ninjago fans wish list. Ideal Christmas present,and guaranteed to keep your child busy and extremely pleased.

This set may say it’s for 9-14 year olds but any Ninjago fans from around 6-66 years would definitely love it! Please note that it does say minimum of 4 years on the packaging and that’s understandable as there are small pieces involved. The Dieselnaut is a pretty amazing piece of kit! It does take a bit of work to put together but it is worth it for the final result. The instructions are pretty clear as they are done in a pictogram style that we found easy to follow. It comes with 7 figures so no having to run out and buy more. It’s not the cheapest but worth it and it’s been a great family project putting it together.If you have a younger child like us it will require adult help and supervision during construction.

Love this. A proper chunky vehcile to build. Loads of parts and takes a good bit of time to put together. My 7yr old struggled a bit but managed with help. There are so many cool bits to this including mini prisons to capture the good guys or baddies depending on your side (which you can do with the 7 mini figures it comes with). There are slide out bits and tracks to apply to the vehicle. I don't know as much as my son about Ninjago but of all the vehicles and space ships we've built, this is definitely one of my favourites....where's the kragl ;)

Great set for anyone that loves Lego, I bought it for my son as a Christmas present as he loves the ninjago series, as he is in early stages of building I built most of it with a little bit of help from my son, it was a great build nice size set for the price, I am glad they have put the rubber studs on the tracks so they work better on hard floors unlike the previous ones, my son loves playing with this set as it is bigger than most Lego cars.

One if the best value Lego products.The item was reduced which had me worried but I'm pleased to say this is one of the best Lego items I've ever had. Took ages to build (part of the pleasure), and there is lots of playability with the various moving parts.I wish Lego did more of this - non branded Lego that is just fun to play with.

Got it through Amazon Warehouse deals, £58. Box had been opened, but non of the inner bags, so bargain!Fun to build with a 6 year old and its a great platform for lots of ongoing adventures and play, rather than just a built and and look at it set.A proper mad max war machine!

This was a christmas present for my 9 year old grandson. He loves Ninjago and sat down quietly and built it on his own with just a little prompting from Dad. He loves it and has also got other ninjago models which he has built. They are all displayed in his bedroom.

This intricate Lego set for all experienced Lego builders. It has a wide variety of pieces to truly explore the realm of Lego Ninjago with the multiple figures and different shaped pieces along side the standard bricks. It is expensive but worth it for Lego fans.

Phenomenal kit. Enjoyed building this with my 8 year old (definitely not for an 8 year old btw!) Doesnt stand up to much rough play (we've rebuilt this a number of times) but definitely impressive when built

My son’s Christmas present and he loves it! He started building the set on Christmas Day, on boxing day morning he woke up at 5 am to finish it then went back to sleep!

My grandson loves Lego. This product was his first choice for his 10th birthday. It kept him busy for the day and he is very happy with the finished product.
