I have to admit I was a little surprised at the size of this set - probably because when I ordered it there was only a tiny picture and a description that was in French (not a language I speak though I could work out LEGO and Emperor). The recommended age is 9+, though my 6-year old and I completed it together. This is the largest Lego set we have tackled so far and it was good fun. I love the construction of it and the playability after it's been made (though you do need to take care, lest bits fall off). The best bit is the Ice Dragon. It is a little daunting when you first unpack (especially if this is your first big Lego project). It has 1218 pieces (including 7 Ninjago mini-figures),the instruction booklet is 246 pages long and the pieces come in 10 separate bags. (Take care when opening the bags because some of the pieces are very small, there are also two pieces that were loose inside the main box). There were a couple of places where I got a little stuck but I sometimes see what I think the instruction is, rather than what it actually is. (This is where the 6-year old comes in useful because she can say "No Mummy, it's like this").You'll probably get a little more out of this if you are familiar with the Ninjago universe but it isn't necessary to have that knowledge to enjoy the build and play afterwards. I do love that you get 7 figures so that you can make up your own original adventures. If I had one wish, it would be that the bags were resealable but I suppose most builders sit down and don't stop until they're finished so it's not an issue.Overall - Absolutely loved this. Would make a great present for the Lego Ninjago fan, or anyone who likes LEGO.

There is a lot of stuff going on in this set from LEGO. It is quite a comprehensive set coming with a suite of minifigures that are clearly ‘good guys’ and ‘bad guys’ from the Ninjago universe, and an Ice Dragon which pretty much dominates the play time. There isn’t much in the way of creativity in these sorts of sets as there is only one way to assemble it and many of the pieces are quite bespoke, so all the fun comes from following the instructions to get the initial build completed, then in the power of imagination. I do think it’s wise to supervise the assembly depending on the nature of the participants, as there are a lot of very small pieces and you wouldn’t want any of them to get ingested,or scattered across the floor ready to tread on.It’s a good set and the instructions are solid. I always think these sorts of things are expensive though, as it’s a lot of money to shell out. That being said, LEGO sets do retain some value.

This one consists of ten packs of components (ten major stages of assembly) plus another one with larger parts in. The pretend elastic for the crossbow (which fires two arrows) was in the box by itself (unless it fell out of a bag). Not a single missing part but to assemble it you will need room for the instructions book, all the parts (in a open container or similar) and room for the finished model. The models during assembly and when finished are a little fragile so need to be handled and picked up with care. The instruction manual is 246 pages long and has 261 steps of assembly and other than one mistake on step 12 (easy to spot the mistake, wrong tile top shown, should be a smooth one).I can't see anyone assembling in less than a few days and is designed for 9+ (it has lots of very small components). The finished project takes up a lot of room and you will need some large shelves to display.Great exercise for the brain.

A huge 1218 pieces to build PLUS you get 7 very cool Ninja mini figures – Figures are Lloyd FS (Forbidden Spinjitzu), Cole, Akita, Ice Emperor, General Vex, Blizzard Master Blizzard and Blizzard Archer. All have their own accessories like hammers and swords and daggers. The detail on the mini figures is really nice, very impressed with the figures. The huge Ice Dragon is definitely the star of the set, it’s bigger than the fortress and has a lot of cool weapons to play with. The Fortress is a really nice size standing at 22cms high, its has the same depth as well so a nice chunky fortress. There’s 239 pages in the guide and 10 bags of Lego with a few extra bits in the box. I really enjoyed this build,I would say more suited for a junior builder of age 8 upwards. Hours of fun building and playing with the huge dragon and very cool mini figures. Love this set.

My two nephews love LEGO Ninjago, so they were thrilled to receive this Castle of the Forsaken Emperor LEGO set to build. There are over 1200 pieces in this set, and it's quite a complicated build, taking them nearly a week to get it finished (with some help from me). The set has 7 LEGO Ninjago mini-figures, including Blizzard Archer, Blizzard Sword Master, Akita, Cole, Lloyd FS (with tornado spinner), Ice Emperor, and General Vex - All characters have weapons. The castle features two towers, an Ice arch, the Ice emperors throne, and other areas including a spring-loaded gun. My nephews' favourite built character is the excellent ICE DRAGON, which has an enormous wingspan of 20-inches and 14-inches in length. This is an expensive set,but there's loads of lego here, providing hours enjoyment.Highly recommended!

Many hours of fun. The castle itself is not too complicated to build. It has a number of exciting moving parts to challenge you and will entertain both in the building and the playing with its ice and brick mix. In addition you are spoilt with 7 characters: Lloyd FS, Akita, Cole, Ice Emperor, Blozzard Archer, Blozzard Snow Master and General Vex, all equipped with interesting weapons. In addition and a real highlight is an amazing ice dragon - this will stand out in any Ninjago fan’s Dragon collection. My son (9) could not rave about this set enough - and he should know as this must be about his 19th Ninjago set!

This is a amazing ice castle, but I still have something to complain about it. The space on the first floor of the castle is just not enough, would have been better if this is a bigger castle. The action feature work perfectly well, but it just takes up too much space! The prison is nice the designer put a lot of effort on everything, so well done. My favorite thing is the side build, Boreal. The ice dragon is very poseable, it doesn’t have knees but I felt like it doesn’t even need one. This set have a good selection of minifigures, including two exclusive minifigures being Akita and Lloyd FS

This is a massive set, like big Christmas present wrapped in a bow because the paper isn’t big enough huge and the play value is immense also. This is fantastic for builders and players alike with 7 mini figures. It’s not for the smallest fans, though achievable it will take a long time to build so set aside a week’s to indulge yourself or the children to build it and have time to enjoy it too. This is a great big present for a child or a child at heart who enjoys building and playing with Lego.

OH MY! Absolutely thrilled by this set. The kids eyes are worth the price tag! The box it comes in is big, MUCH bigger than expected. Hours and hours of fun, and as my son is 5, it ends up being a lot more adult work than child! As always this Lego set comes in separate packs to aid assembly, and a clear instruction manual. It has a whopping 1218 pieces - castle, tower, dragon and 7 figures, and makes a great bonding activity for the family. An absolute dream for any Lego lover.

Used this Lego set over the weekend at two groups for last year at primary school young people. They really enjoyed making this set. The instructions were clear and easy understand. The Ninjago set is exactly what this age group enjoy. Ice Emperor, General Vex. The figures are well designed and exciting. This is a good value Lego set. Takes a while to put everything together but that’s the fun.

Very substantial diorama and a set that needs quite a lot of adult input to build. However, once you’ve put in a couple of hours effort this is a spectacular assemblage that an older child (I dare say, even in this politically correct age, a boy particularly) will enjoy. Great attention to detail, this represents very good value for money and hours of fun .

This is a good kit with a fantastic dragon, but it's slightly let down by the "fiddly" construction and flimsy build. It easily falls to bits when actually played with, as my 9 year old want's to do. So you winder if they could simplify the design to make it a bit more robust. Looks great.

this is overall a good set for money’s worth, it does have its ups and downs but i overall love this set only problem i had building this set which took an hour to fix was the right wall broken down trying to fix something buts it makes up for such a good build

My son recieved this as a gift for xmas and he loves it. He is only 5 but followed the instructions easily and only took him a day to complete. ( he is only 5). Good quality once built stays up even when bashed ans played with. Worth the money

The set itself has a lot of great pieces. I'll be honest and only bought it for the dragon though! Value (if your one of those price per piece people), build quality, types of pieces. This set has it all. Oh, and did I mention a dragon!
