This is the second set from the ‘Hidden Side’ theme that I’ve had the pleasure of building and reviewing, and I’m pleased to say it is another great set. This one depicts a science lab along the lines of Dr. Frankenstein’s laboratory, complete with giant electrodes and a chamber a mini-figure can stand in to be experimented on (I presume). The lab has lots of little details like monitors, gadgets etc. as well as a number of removable accessories, including a camera, a spanner, a 3D printer, a chemical flask and even a pizza! There is also some limited details on the back of the build providing some extra play space. There are three minifigs included, all of which look great and have bags of personality.A ghost head, complete with crazy luminous green hair can be added to one of the figures to make it seem like they are ‘possessed’ by a spirit. Also included is a cute little ghost dog.As with other sets in this new theme, it is compatible with the free to download ‘Hidden Side’ app. This allows smartphone and tablet users to interact with the set and catch virtual ghosts. You are also able to unlock and battle a boss ghost (in the case of this set, a Dr. Jekyll inspired scientist). The app is very slick and whilst there are lots of upgrades to unlock, there are no in app purchases to worry about. My eldest son is 5.5 yrs and a little below the target audience for this set (it’s 7+). However he is already a Lego veteran and the new characters in the set have captured his attention well. He has enjoyed playing with the physical set and also using the app to zap and catch various different types of ghosts. One thing is for sure, this set is completely different from all of the other Lego he has already amassed and offers some much needed variety in his collection.

I think that this set is a great set for the smallest of the range! It has great minifigures (Jack, who is unfortunately not exclusive and pretty common; JB, who only comes in this set and the bus in the first wave; Mr Elton/Douglas who sort of comes i the stunt truck, although this time he has hair - and he also contains a possessed face and incredible hair; and Spencer, the ghost dog, who is an excellent piece.) Overall, the set is a pretty good lab, including a 3d printer with something in it, jugs of chemicals (which you can move around to interact with the app), that spinning thing (also used to interact with the app), very lab-ish looking things pointing upwards and a computer. The set does have quite a few stickers, although I do not think they are too hard to apply and add nice details to the set, which I like. Apart from both of the phones, the pizza and the keyboard, everything you see is a sticker.Overall, I think this is a great set which can be played with and enjoyed both in the real world and in the app.

We picked up JB's Ghost Lab to check out the new theme and I have to say LEGO Team has really done a outstanding job! With new and fresh figures, pieces and the app interaction really makes this a fun set. I cant wait to pick up more set from the theme. The build is fun and easy with about 7+ stickers. I recommend really taking your time applying them on the wall pieces as they would be real hard to pull back up if they are not straight. I little trick I use is that I use a plastic tooth pick (new) that has the flattened end on them. This way you can get in the tight spaces without scratching the bricks. Then line everything up before slowly pressing down. Works great when you cant get your fingers in there. So I would say this is a great new theme and fun set and look forward to explore them further. On a last note, make sure you check to see if your device (phone, tablet) will work with the app. Happy Building

I bought this to complete the Hidden Side current cycle even though I don't really tend to go for smaller kits this one is impressive. It is absolutely packed with little details and playability and is probably my favourite Hidden Side build so far - even better than the Haunted Castle, who knew?I didn't build this set, my son did. He had a lot of fun building it and kept asking me to look at the section he'd just done because of all the little bits and bobs that are crammed in to it. Quite a few mini figures with the set that makes for a lot of fun. Scaling is really good too so it looks great.Have to admit this one went straight to the front of the shelf because it makes me smile A LOT.NumberOf Pieces: 174Approximate Price Per Piece: £0.10

Ok, I was skeptical about this range. Which is why I only bought the cheapest set of the range. But saying that, I can honestly say I am impressed with this. No, the set is not an overly elaborate set that will take your hours to build. But that being said it's very effective at conveying the feel of a lab. The Minifigs in the set are really cool, with some nice new elements. But, combine this set with the app and then the set takes on a whole new level of fun. The game itself is a lot more challenging than I was expecting it to be. It requires a little more style and control than I was prepared for from a game aimed at the target audience. All in all,I am perfectly happy with my purchase and expect to be buying more from this range.

I really enjoy the theme of these sets and ordered a few. The Ghost Lab has a lot of nice little touches, including the unique ectoplasm tube piece. Outside the game, there's a few moving parts to play with in the final model, as well as the 3 minifigs and dog. One thing that would make it cooler is if the platform had been deigned to rotate or have doors. If access to the AR game is important to you, make sure you check that your phone can run it ahead of time. I like the sets themselves, and ordered before properly determining none of my devices would run the game.

My 8 year old loved this and found it easy to build using the instruction book. Some pieces are tiny so not suitable for small children age recommended 7 yearsThe small pieces come in separate bags and comes with an instruction book which is very clear and easy to read. This Lego set is frankensteins lab and comes with several different characters inc a ghost dog .Lots of detail 3d printer and tiny computer keypad.Would recommend and will be buying another set from the hidden side range.

Me and my 10 year old daughter built this together instructions were clear and took about 20 mins it comes with some very cute little features but doesn’t look like you could play much with it until you put the app on it! It really brings the lab to life and the ghosts are cool what a brilliant idea so many hours of fun my daughter loves looking for ghost and getting rid of them my 4 year old son also enjoyed seeing them come to life. I can’t complain about anything in this set it was a big hit.

The new Hidden side lego we got for our 9year old son who loved the connectivity between his phone and the lego a great joining of his favourite things technology and building toys. The interactive part of the build comes once it’s built and adds a new dimension to the end product that he really enjoyed. It was easy to build as always and the connection is via an app for Android or Apple and special stickers that are placed on the lego opening a new way of playing a great choice for his age.

My 11 year old son enjoys building Lego so much and the set didn't disappoint. The set came with a few cool (his words) characters alongside an interesting laboratory. As always with a Lego product there was as much enjoyment with the build as with playing with the set but by adding the AR element to it, it brought the set to life. The app is free to download and there has been so much enjoyment using this dimension to the set with challenges every day. Such a great way to bring Lego to life.

Excellent product (as are all the Hidden Side sets) - but make sure that your tablet / phone is compatible with the Lego Hidden Side app first as it uses AR Core which many devices are incompatible with...If you can use the app then this set is brilliant! It is well designed, nicely detailed and the kids have loads of fun building it and playing with it. The added functionality of the app entertains them for ages and can be used in a multiplayer mode with friends who have Hidden Side sets

My 8 year old daughter managed to build this on her own as the instruction booklet was very easy to understand, it took her about 30 mins.It was smaller than I expected but also very sturdy, she loved the interaction once it was built with the app, she has been telling everyone that has visited about it & showing them how it works, I will definitely be looking to buy more sets in this series, well done Lego it’s a big thumbs up from us.

7yr old could not wait to open set. Liked the mini figures. Enjoyed assembling, as an experienced Lego builder found the instructions easy to follow and did not require adult help. 1sr time using the app, had to use Dad’s Android phone as would not work in his Amazon Fire. App was simple to use and a clever idea. Held his attention and got him to play with his Lego, rather than discarding it once built.

'This was a Lego set that my granddaughter wanted as she'd seen it in the new Birmingham store however it's very disappointing that the interactive part of it that she really liked can't worked with her own tablet only. It's not fair to expect children as young as 7 or 8 to have to use very expensive phones or tablets to be able to do this and spoils something that has cost quite a lot of money to buy

I really enjoyed this build. The colours are fresh and rich which really adds to the look and feel. The AR is impressive for such an early level of use too.I am happy to see lego didnt lose sight of the prize which is the physical build. Going forward it would be cool to see a build that would be apart of a story and the AR would provide hints on how to reconfigure the blocks.
