In this set there are the pieces to create three, four-by-four stud, Lego cubes. These can be decorated with any of the dozens of one-by-one, flat pieces included. There isn't a 'right' way of decorating the cubes, but the idea is to create different animal faces. There are a surplus of decorative pieces, so that a large variety of designs can be created. Each cube has the same basic design, just with different colours; one grey, one white and one tan. The build is very easy, with only eight stages each. On the back of each is a clip, into which a photo, or similar item, can be placed. The top of each cube is only lightly held by two studs, creating a lid to access its interior. My son built the cubes once, stacking them tome pole style, and hasn't really played with them since. That's just him, as though he likes building Lego sets, he doesn't like taking apart his creations. They are quite fun, though I don't think they satisfy their intended purpose as storage pots, as their interiors are tiny, being only two studs by two in area and less than three bricks high. I can't fit two of my fingers, one knuckle deep in the pots, you can imagine how many paper-clips that is; it's enough space for one pen - as long as it isn't so heavy it tips the pot over.I think many children will get a lot of enjoyment from this set, with its cute and creative fun.

These Lego DOTS picture holders are an odd one. The colour scheme is modern and fun, the packaging and presentation (including container) make this an ideal birthday present or stocking filler. The whole thing *is* fun to assemble and looks good at the end. But it's an odd choice to create a Lego set that's aimed towards creativity, but offers such limited scope for customisation. My eight-year-old daughter enjoyed assembling the picture holders. She was less frustrated than she gets with conventional Lego, but it took less effort on her part, and she couldn't be convinced to keep experimenting once she'd finished her animal faces and patterns. The creativity that this set offers is really limited, basically amounting to window dressing rather than invention. Some children will enjoy this, others will get less out of it. We're happy to have constructed this set, but I don't think feel the need to add any additional DOTS to our birthday lists.

This new Lego dots range is really cool, it’s very crafty and creative where you can put your own twist on it rather than just following the instructions. This set gives you the bricks to make photo holders in a cube shape, and then decorate them with the flat stud less Lego pieces (these are the Lego dots) in various colours and shapes. You get the instructions for three different animal face designs to get your started, and these are all really cute. It comes in a flat tray where you can store everything while making, and store extra pieces after you’re finished which helps keep it really organised and self contained (you may not want to mix the dots in with all your other Lego)My daughter really enjoyed it,and I did too so I think it’s great for Lego lovers of all ages.

My house is full to bursting with Lego, so I was surprised and pleased to find a Lego range that we didn't already have. This set includes bricks to make cubes for photo and pen holders which can be decorated with the small flat pieces. It comes with instructions for some animal faces and also plenty of extra pieces so kids can be creative. The blue tray has several sections so can sort the pieces out easily - a really good idea which I hope Lego does for some of its other sets rather than just a box.The only reason for 4* instead of 5* is that it did not capture my 8 year olds imagination as much as other sets he has.(via my daughter-in-law and my grandchildren :-)

I love these.Lego has historically been a 'boys toy' which I whole heatedly disagree with. Recently we've seen a lot more targeted feminine Lego sets, however this only helps so much.Sets like these Lego blow that divide out of the water. It's completely neutral, and is for any child. I am an engineer and have a fondness for Lego and the creative, technical, and patience skills that it helps a child employ. These are a great introduction to Lego for children and gives them a little creative piece to present and keep on their desks or sideboards, or bedrooms.

My 8 year old really enjoyed making her LEGO dots pot. She liked that you could choose different faces and make up your own design and didn’t have to follow the instructions. They are straightforward to make and she was able to do it by herself. You get enough of the bigger pieces to make 3 little pots and quite a few bits of the smaller LEGO to decorate with. It’s a nice little activity to keep them occupied and can be broken up and built all over again if they want to build a different design

Got this for my 7 year old son who ABSOLUTELY LOVES lego. Lego dots are a bit different - geared more towards a 'craft' feel than construction and a wonderful addition to any lego-loving kid's collection. He absolutely loved the set & made 3 small cube characters which double up as photo holders. He couldn't have been happier and spent ages totally absorbed, really lovely to see. Would totally recommend, for boys as well as girls!

How wonderful something different yet still like lego I helped my 6yr old daughter with this as can be a little fiddly but found it very enjoyable she wants some more sets definitely a hit.You can make all different designs and you have plenty of pieces to mix and match to create what ever designs desired and great colours just need to be careful if little ones are around as pieces are small be best to make on a table.

My children enjoyed making these and it provided a couple of hours of fun during lockdown. The bits are quite small so they are suitable for older children really. The finished photo blocks are cute but only really strong enough to hold one photo. You can keep changing the design of the holders so this has longevity.Would make a nice gift for someone who likes Lego and crafting.

As soon as my 6 year old girls saw this they couldn't wait to start making it. The instructions were easy to follow and they enjoyed making the photo holders with the option to leave the top open, they decided to close the top but use it as a secret little compartment. I even got my older son involved as the pack could make 3 holders and he didn't want to feel left out.

This set is the usual good quality you would expect from Lego. It's a little bit different in that you can use you imagination to make your own mosaic type design or follow the instructions to make little cute animal designs on your picture cubes. Good for boys and girls. Can be reused again and again. Good to keep the kids occupied within the current climate.

My daughter loves this. She is 6 so her brother helped her build the boxes. Theres three in the set then a choice of animals to make. Though my daughter wanted to make her own designs. She has pulled them apart a few times to redo. I think these are a good idea. My daughter has been decorating her own lego with the pieces too.

This is quite good fun. It is quite creative and as you would expect from Lego all of the components are well made.Actually making something that is of practical use feels good. Obviously normal Lego is more appealing but for the price this is good value.

I'm not sure what this phase is with lego, but my kids are! These are a really good idea, honestly, the only reason I gave them 4 stars is that once you have made them, that's about all you can do.Really good idea though, and the kids were very excited.

This is a great product from Lego, bit different to the usual creations. My kids loved creating their photo holder and creating a fun accessory. The colours and style is great and quality is as brilliant as you would expect from Lego
