Barring the blind bag Minifigures, it's been many years since I regularly bought anything LEGO. However being a big fan of Doctor Who meant I had to support this. I've argued the series would be an ideal license for LEGO for years so with it finally happening I needed to put my money where my mouth is. But what is the actual result? With it currently being unclear if this will spin off into actual further sets, the wise decision has been made to produce a representation of the iconic time and space ship. This is the TARDIS as it currently appears on the show, specifically the 2013 Christmas episode The Time of the Doctor.Everyone is going to have their preferred take on the console room but from a licensing perspective it's easy to see why they current one wins out. The concept of the set is the famous blue box leading into the central console room, with a flight of stairs leading off into the unseen bowels. This is a concept other TARDIS toys have used in the past, which makes it unfortunate that the execution is lacking. The console room itself is decent, having lots of detail and the room to pose all six characters in the set or any other LEGO figures that take your fancy. But the police box is where the set loses points. On the one hand it's well designed with the ability to detach from the larger set and securely lock into shape for hands young and old to whoosh it through the time vortex. But everything about it being the entrance to the ship is implied, with the doors being fixed in place and a visual cheat on the inside. The way it folds out to imply the vast walls of the console room is impressive but the lack of opening doors to lead straight from the outside to the in is disappointing. Even the LEGO wannabe Character Building sets retained this feature.Six characters are included. Three of these (Clara, Eleven and Twelve) date this set to the aforementioned Christmas story, with Clara wearing her ensemble from that episode and Twelve likewise in his predecessor's hand me downs. The modularity of LEGO does mean you can swap out Eleven's head if you wish and you even get a crimson cone piece to represent his beloved fez. Both Eleven and Clara have alternate faces (smiling or serious) but Twelve oddly only has a grumpy face, particularly odd as in the LEGO Dimensions game he's frequently flashing a mischevious grin. Double faces are also present for the Weeping Angel so it can be serene or roaring. Two Daleks round up the cast, rather ingeniously made from a limited number of bricks and in a way that has more charm than the moulded figures Character Options went with. For some people this set will have been a decades dream come true. I'm not sure if the £50 price tag is represented in the actual set content but for what might be the Doctor's only appearance in a toyline as beloved and vintaged as himself this is one I reccomend picking up. There are things that could have been done better but if it bothers you enough the nature of LEGO means there's always a way to customise and improve it as you see fit. Even still, out of the box this is a charming and unique take on the TARDIS and its captain.

With all the licensing deals Lego have acquired over the years, I suppose it was inevitable that a Doctor Who set would come to pass. Or rather, I was HOPING it would (long before the Doctor’s appearance in the hit-game Lego Dimensions). And now, they’ve actually done it! An official Lego TARDIS, complete with interior and console! This Assembly Kit is not part of a new range for Lego Doctor Who; rather it’s a single set that’s part of Lego Ideas (ranging from generic sets to custom-creations to things like Back To The Future, Wall-E, Ghostbusters and The Big Bang Theory). And this TARDIS set is certainly challenging to build – from the blue Police box,to the control console and the two Daleks included – but the whole build remains hugely satisfying nonetheless. It’s the set’s design which really makes this Lego worthy of Doctor Who. Once complete, the TARDIS interior lends itself beautifully to the imagination, and the police box itself can be detached from the TARDIS control platform, and closed to contain one Mini-Figure. Another brilliant aspect of the set’s design is that the TARDIS’ central column can be detached from the platform and can be comfortably placed back in the box (along with everything else) for convenience. As well as the set being an excellent recreation of the Doctor’s time machine, there’s a superb range of Mini-Figures included: The Eleventh and Twelfth Doctors, Clara Oswald, a Weeping Angel and (again) two Daleks for you to build, along with a Lego fez and a couple of Sonic Screwdrivers. The instruction booklet that comes with everything also deserves props! Not only are the building instructions as clear as ever, but they also feature concise info regarding the Doctor Who mini-figures, information about the show, recapping the events that led to the Eleventh Doctor’s regeneration and some great notes from the design team responsible for this set. All of which makes this Assembly Kit truly special. The only drawbacks are that the Police Box doesn’t have an opening door like the real thing (probably rendered impractical due to the design) and it IS an expensive set, but for all Lego and Doctor Who fans, all can easily be forgiven. A set that easily belongs in your collection!

Nice little set that holds together much better than the character building tardis, that constantly collapses and does not even fit together properly. Expensive, hence 4 stars, but good lego build quality. It's quite a dense set in a compact box. Amazon sellers are charging almost twice the amount of lego direct, and lego have loads of sets in stock, so go to them and don't be ripped off. We like using the character building 'Who' characters with the lego sets anyway and make up our own. This is a lego 'ideas' set which are often one offs and not a 'Whovian' subset of lego. However, as there are already some doctor Who character sets in the new lego dimensions game, it's likely there are more Who sets in the pipe line, especially as Who has become a more global phenomenon. Personally I'm hoping for a 'collectors edition' Motorised Davros!

Bought this for my nephew for Christmas. It's brilliant. He has no patience so I had the fun job of building it. The detail is amazing. Even underneath where you can't really see. Lots of fiddly little bits though and if you happen to use the wrong piece like I did it's very hard to take apart to find the bit you've done wrong. Very sturdy though once built. Love the Tardis as a single piece and that it cleverly attaches to he inside part. And the mini figures look fab especially the Daleks. Just wish we could buy extras to go with it. This is definitely a piece to be displayed.

Too bad LEGO officially discontinues products far too soon. Fortunately found one with this reseller. Box was in perfect condition, unopened and all parts complete. Also a very lovely set, complete with two doctors, two daleks, clara and a weeping angel. The best part of this kit is you can build the "blue box" stand-alone from the console, which is really why I bought this set in the first place.Again, too bad LEGO does not know some of the great stuff they have. They could discontinue this set but sell a stand-alone TARDIS quite easily.

The price of Lego is always a little off-putting, but in the end I have a solid product, wonderfully detailed (I'm sure my imagination is doing a lot, but the inspriation is there), and putting it together while watching the Doctor do his mad best was just so much fun.Though clearly depicted on the box, this is just the core and surrounding consoles and gantry. It's not the whole room, though hats off to the designers for getting a couple of round things in by the exit.

Great collector's item, not so great as a toy, as there aren't many "working" features that are the hallmark of Lego kits. The kit is very faithful to the on-screen Tardis, and looks very flashy and Sci-fi. My kit was missing a few of the most tiny parts (circular transparent studs), but they were easily replaced from other sources.Building the kit made me wish they had a larger range of kits to build from Dr. Who, but this is a great start.

This is a really cute Lego set for Doctor Who fans. It is on point with other Lego Ideas projects like the Deloreon from Back To The Future and The Ghostbusters set. As such the packaging and instructions are upgrades from Lego's usual high standards. The set is detailed enough to excite the Doctor's followers and functional enough to play with. Great purchase!

Not a great fan of the new doctor, and thankfully mat is there as well, but that does not detract from this bring a quality set. Did worry about how sturdy it would be, but nothing to worry about on that part. The concept of the Tardis being part of or separate, works really well, and it feels really solid when it's on it's own. Design is superb.

Fantastic set, 11 year old thinks it is awesome. He paid for it himself and thinks it is worth every penny as he can play with it without it falling apart. He has all the Character Building sets and they led to hours of disappointment and frustration as they seemed to fall apart if you breathed on them. Well done Lego Ideas very impressed.

I bought this as a Christmas present for my Lego-mad and Doctor-Who-mad 14yo son. He loves it. It didn't take him long to assemble, and he's had a great time exploring its features. As a Whovian myself, I love the look of the exterior of the TARDIS and the clever way it opens up to reveal the interior. Great detail on the console too.

Lego + Doctor Who, what more can I say two fantastic worlds collide. I'm really pleased with this set, as an adult lego collector with a truly eclectic house this is a great addition to the "china" cabinet. who wants wedgewood when you can have lego.Lovely set, great detailing and as appealing to kids as heart as kids themselves.

For you money you get the Tardis interior including Tardis console, plus the door is detachable and transforms into the Tardis exterior. The whole set is very robust and an enjoyable build.Included with the tardis you also receive the following figures: 11th Doctor, 12th Doctor, Clara, 2 Daleks and a Wheeping Angel.

Really love this set. Not the greatest set in the Ideas line up, but is easily in my top 5. I think the price is a bit much for such a small Lego set but, I understand that Lego is made of high quality plastic and has brilliant quality control. Definitely a worthy addition to any Doctor Who/Lego fan's collection.

As with many of the Legos Ideas range, this is a great little model, with well thought out design. The tardis itself is a real joy and the character design is spot on. Great for fans of lego and the Doctor. My only wish is that they had include Amy and Rory figures too, but you can't have everything!
