This LEGO Batman set ticks virtually all the boxes you’d want it to, especially if your kids are relatively new to Lego itself. There’s a good mix of elements here with a building, the Arkham Asylum Prison in this case, a set of four characters and a couple of vehicles, plus a fun trebuchet-style bomb launcher. That makes for lots of potential scenarios kids can dream up and then play out and so the kit feels relatively complete in itself without that need to buy something else to get full use of it. Of course it’s LEGO and so your kids will almost certainly want more but if they’re getting plenty of imaginative play from it maybe it’s not a problem. This kit is aimed at younger or less-experienced Lego builders and so some of the constructions are based on simplified custom combo-pieces,which give single complex shapes in a single brick instead of the child having to make them themselves from lots of smaller pieces. This is great for new builders so they get to the finished model in fewer steps but then those highly specific pieces are maybe less useful for making original models later when the kids decide to improvise their own builds. It does help if the kids have seen one of the Lego Batman movies, they’ll be familiar with the characters and scenarios, but it’s certainly not essential and they’ll just invent their own stories. There’s a full step-by-step guide to constructing the suggested builds, lots of pages but it’s simple to follow and encourages kids to understand how 2D diagrams relate to 3D objects. Overall it’s a great kit for new or experienced Lego builders, there are enough original pieces in here for established Lego maniacs and for newcomers it’s complete enough to be a self-contained toy. Compared to some of the cheaper but less-complete kits I’d suggest this is actually better value, in terms of play hours, and it’s worth the extra spend.

No need to even think how many stars I am going to give for Lego as it is the best toy ever. My children played with it for years and now my grandchildren are doing the same. I have lost count of the number of times I have yelled in agony as I have trodden on a piece in the middle of the floor but it is worth it as it is the one toy that can guarantee hours of pleasure for children. This one is rated for 4+ but I, personally, always think they are for older than stated as the contents and the instructions always look complicated. My grandchildren manage to do them ok so it is obviously just me.This one comes with three packs of pieces, plus a helicopter and helicopter pad and the front of Arkham Asylum where we assume is where the Joker being kept. There are turrets for it and a guard and there also appears to be a trebuchet to bounce the Joker over the wall and out to freedom. The booklet of instructions runs to 67 pages. Yes 67 so you can understand why I think this is for older children. However, my daughter (who is 40 this year) will love this as she and her girls sit down and do these together. I usually sit on the sofa and watch with my feet up...Lego is The Best. Five Stars

even though I am a fully grown bloke I still love a bit of Lego, it takes me back to bygone youth of putting them together and feeling a real sense of achievement when I had finished.well this kit aimed at the kids just finding the joys of lego was great. there was enough little projects in it to make it interesting for anyone. a mix of vehicles and building so a kid would have enough toys at the end of it to invent themselves a little play scenario, and with the batman theme it will appeal to the DC fans out there only took me half an hour to complete but would probably take a kid a bit longer, plus half teh fun was tehn destroying it and then building it into somthing else.if you are looking for a starter kit with I would recomend this as theres enough to keep them occupied with out losing interestenjoyed building it just like I did as a kid

Lego is always a toy I turn to for gifts for children, and sometimes even for myself. It ticks lots of boxes - improving manual dexterity; the ability to follow instructions; creativity; logic at the build stage and then the ability to trigger lots of imaginative play and role playing once complete (more for kids than adults, although I guess I have thought about being Han Solo in my Lego Millennium Falcon...)This set is a Lego Movie/Batman tie in and is well done, with good detailing and plenty of play value once the initial build is done. It's perhaps a kit that's a good step up to more complex models, being fiddly (due to small parts) but relatively quick to build.I had great fun with it,as a middle-aged woman, I'm sure other age groups would love it too!

Our nephew was thrilled with this Batman Lego set. You get four characters batman, of course, the Joker, Harley Girl? and a prison guard. You also get the relevant lego bricks to construct a helicopter for Batman, a motor bike for Harley Girl? and the criminal asylum (including solitary cage) for the prison guard to watch over. All made to the inevitable high quality that's now become the norm for Lego toys. It didn't take out nephew too long to construct the various bit and pieces. But he then spent the rest of the afternoon playing with it along with his other lego characters, etc. Great Stuff.

Any child who enjoyed the Lego Batman movie will love this set. It's a small set physically, so won't take up too much room, but there are lots of components and so a great deal of play potential. Along with the prison building you've various items to enable the escape and subsequent chase of the characters. Two young boys in the family had a huge amount of fun with this on first opening and have continued to use it regularly.Another big hit from Lego.

Lets all go Lego!... yes, love this set, plenty of figures and lots going on, it's listed as 4+ only as theres no "construction" really to challenge you, it's a good play set and adds those characters to your set. The helicopter is the best part really, beyond the characters.I've no idea why they advertise it as "Multicolour", it's lego, it's all sorts of colours.

Although this was aimed at quite a young age group I still enjoyed building it with my autistic 11-year-old. The larger bricks were really beneficial to his hand-eye contact. The number of minifigures supplied was great and it was fun to play with. Recommended.
