I’m reviewing “60234-1: People Pack - Fairground” here. At time of writing there’s no pricing visible on this item, so I can’t currently comment on how it compares in terms of value for a pack of 14 quirky non-branded-character minifigures and a small selection of mini fairground items. I would hope it isn’t too much though, because this feels very much like a ‘supplementary pack’ that will boost the population of a Lego City scene, rather than a ‘proper’ Lego toy in its own right. For any seasoned Lego builder, the fairground pieces and the minifigures will be assembled in a couple of minutes. There’s nothing unusual or difficult about them and you can certainly just build them based on the box photo without needing instructions. There are some interesting novelty pieces, such as the balloon dog, and the way the “postbox piece” (from the Lego of my youth) is repurposed into an ice cream cart is a nice touch. The teddy bear piece is already being coveted in our house, everybody seems to want it as part of their bits! But ultimately individual bits is all this box is- individual pieces and minifigures, some of them quite entertaining, but lacking any real centrepiece or any sense of building accomplishment or 2-in-1 variety. It’s interesting to see my kids treating minifigures in different ways. One of my kids is all about the bricks and architecture, designing her own houses and vehicles, but the minifigures are just interchangeable mannequins and are never given any character. Another, however, is all about the minifigures, all of whom are named and given distinct voices and stories. If your child (or you) falls into the latter category, then this set may be a real treat, but if not, then it feels a bit incidental.

I would like to begin this review by disclaiming my inability to compare this set to other previous sets of similar design. As a kid, I remember when Lego were releasing these sets for the first time: figure-sets predominantly for the sake of expanding your own Lego metropolis. But, I myself never owned one. However, as for my own hands-on experience with this NEW set, I can only sing its praises! Design wise, I can appreciate the considerate combination of classic-style figures with newly introduced ones. Even though some are simpler than others, each have their own personality and reflect the thoughtfulness of the Lego design team towards avid collectors and children alike. The commitment to less common coloured bricks for the sake of accuracy is also a good move on Lego’s side, if only in small amounts (love myself a Willy Wonka style top-hat!). Each play-feature functions as intended, and personally I love the design of the “high striker” attraction; even if it is slightly illegal for build purists! You might have a harder time with the “ring toss” game but as a display scene it holds it own. My only comments would be on the need for a stand for the performer and stiffness of the propellor beanie, but it’s a propellor beanie! How cool is that!As for value-for-money, I’d happily pay around the £20 for this set, as the inclusion of duel-moulded pieces and rare character accessories alone typically ramps up prices of similar sets.If you’re thinking of getting this as a gift for a child, an addition to your own Lego city, or even just for the cute Lego ducks, I would recommend doing so and I mean, c’mon, just look at those ducks!Highly recommend. Great set.

As a small boy my parents bought me so much Lego, it is frightening to think about how much they spent. The bricks and shapes I could create kept me fascinated for hours. I remember my finest "creation" was built from a box of "Technical" lego and it was a motorised crane. I still have it all in a great big Lego floor bag. Sadly the instructions to build the crane has gone, but it does not stop the next generations from using their imaginations and creativity to build things from the innocent looking bricks. When Vine offers Lego sets I, of course, grab them, but nowadays, I ensure they are not mixed up with the general bag and the boxes and instructions are kept. This set will build 14 mini-figure characters from the fairground. There is a balloon modelling stiltwalker, ice cream seller, a hook a duck stall, a water gun stall and strongman bell. It also includes figures who are eating ice cream or lolly. It also comes with all the bricks you need and very clear instructions. This is a relatively simple set and it should be OK for 5 years and older. Once built, Lego is about imagination and this set will "fire" up the young imagination. My children have used it with the other fairground Lego sets they own. It's a nice set and is incredibly interactive. I am happy to Recommend it.

This is a Lego City set that is based on a fairground. It sort of feels like this might be the set of people that go with a bigger fairground set that needs proper construction but I think Lego might be trying to encroach on the Playmobile market as the figures are more suitable for imaginary play than a construction set. You get 14 figures, as pictured on the box and they are the size of normal Lego figures (rather than larger like Playmobile figures). Some of them have slightly different facial expressions, or facepaint or glasses, so they are unlike the old uni-facial Lego figures of my childhood. This set needs minimal construction compared to other sets and it's very easy to assemble. As with Playmobile, the fun is in setting things up so everything is where you want it (after the minimal construction) and then playing with it. At £29.99 on Amazon for the set, it's ok, but I wouldn't say it was cheap. I actually think the accessories make this set-the hot dog, the balloon animal, the icecream etc. They are a great touch and make imaginary play more fun. The only down side to this is lots of fiddly small pieces. It's aimed at 5+ (probably for this reason) but it's likley a young sibling or pet wouldn't be particularly safe around the set.

There are more LEGO sets than there are days in a century, some are huge and others are pretty tiny. Set 60234 is an interesting one as it feels more like a character pack than a set as such. In 'City Town People Pack' you get as the pack suggests - people. There are other elements, but the main part is the 14 characters you get from kids to stilt walkers. You get a nice mix of people visiting the fun fair and those that work there. You do get a few small accessories that give the pack a festival feel - fair games, balloon animal, and face painting. You can have some fun creating an outdoors activity day, but it does feel like you need a building as well to get the most out of the set.If you have a LEGO circus or a fairground ride, then this collection would make a perfect supplement to it. If you are a serious LEGO collector who is creating a city for yourself then having these additional characters would allow add life to the scene. As usual, the plastic quality is high and the detailing is LEGO brilliance.

Who doesn’t love Lego? I was sent this to test and the first thing I realised was how much Lego has changed since my kids (now in their forties) played with it. This particular one, called “City Town People Pack” came in a robust, colourful box. The pieces were in sealed bags with a detailed leaflet.Essentially this is a set of figures that you can use anywhere with any other Lego set. There’s minimal building to do and it will enhance anything else your youngster likes to play with – city, country or outer space. The actual quality of the Lego is, as usual, excellent. These characters will resonate with a young audience and this will be the source of hours of fun. It’s unlikely that any child will have just one set of Lego and there will be collections of various types all mixed together in most cases. I loved it and will probably become a secret elderly Lego collector!

It's all the fun of the fair with this particular Lego set, packed with minifigures and with plenty of play-ability this is a welcome addition to the usual emergency services and construction focused City range. The build here is pretty straightforward with two numbered bags and lots of mini creations - typically consisting of a figure and some kind of fairground game - be it shooting, hook a duck or test of strength. The little builds are actually pretty charming, have a nice bit of interactivity and good colour. There are plenty of figures too, so it could be nicely combined with your own builds and forms a great combination.Overall this makes for a good little set - plenty of playability, fun figures and scenes. Definitely one to add to the collection.

I bought this set primarily for the minifigs as there are quite a few of them in this set and individually, they would have cost a lot more. But I was delighted by the fact that the rifle range actually works, as does the Strong Man exhibit. One of my gripes is that one of the minifigs only has a face-paint face so she cannot really be used anywhere apart from at the funfair. The other gripe is that there was no base plate for the fair and minifigs. But I cannot complain overall. The minifigs are of a variety of ages from excited kids to young adult, to mature adults and to retirees and there are lots of them. Also, I enjoyed the tiny details eg coins for the ice cream seller, the ice cream seller's cart, the ice cream and ice lolly and the hot dog.

My daughter is very fond of Lego but often complains she does not have enough of the figures (apparently Playmobile people are too big and look wrong). This set is a great way to acquire some more people. These come as a themed set. There is an ice cream man and his bike, a duck hoopla, face painting and other activities you see at a fair.On the box it says 5+. Think you could go younger once you have made the figures up. They come in two bags and putting them together has wreaked havoc with my nails. Particularly the stiltman! There are fourteen figures of which eight are children and six adults and four fair ground activity.

Our girls loved this set. The consultation required in this set is pretty minimal compared to other sets they have recently got. In some ways that’s nice for a change as the real focus here is in the mini figures (and there are lots of them!) and the really cleverly designs attractions and accessories. It’s given a chance for their imaginations and play to really flourish. I also like the fact that this is a set that while not necessarily targeted at girls is something that really triggered their sense of play. At over £30 it’s not especially cheap but nevertheless is highly recommended.

This is a great little set. The prints on the mini figures are brilliant, I especially like the little girl with face paint. There are some great new moulds too. Can’t beat a helicopter hat, and who would of guessed it would be Lego that tries to bring back the mullet. With the set having 14 mini figures it’s good value and the small builds being a bonus. This set is a definite must if you own any of the theme park ride sets , such as the carousel 10257 (epic build!), and want to add some life to it.

What a great little set. Love all the details. The hook a duck can spin around. The targets can actually be hit by the gun and the test your strength with the hammer is so cute. All the little figures are full of character and great imaginary play has already taken place. A really lovely fun set that will be well played with. Pretty easy to build too.

I haven't seen any other sets made up almost entirely of Lego people which is in effect what this is, with a few extra bits to make up a fairground like stilts, duck hoop game, ice-cream cart and more besides. It's a pretty small set but with 14 people it's worth getting (depending on the price which is currently unavailable).

16.5.2019

A simple set - easy to build and full of fun fair ground activities: shooting targets, hammer hit, ice cream vendor, hoops over ducks, face painting and man on stilts with balloon animals - All this and 14 Lego characters as well. Highly recommended for role play or to expand your universe of little people.
