My Son like many other boys his age loves Lego Batman and especially the new film which we must have watched at least twenty times by now and which is ultimately responsible for my review title as no matter how many times I have now sat and watched the film with my children the Bat Cave passphrase still makes me chuckle.Age Suitability, Build Time, Build Bags etc:-This Ultimate Batmobile is a huge build and with 1456 pieces spread over 9 build bags the set took me just under 9 hours to finish on behalf of my Son (he is a few years under the recommended age of between 10-16 years old and so he struggled with the build but obviously still wanted to play with the finished set).I'm quite an experienced Lego builder as both of my children are Lego mad but also young and so I end up building a lot of sets that I buy for them but I must admit that I found this build a little tricky purely because the colours are black, light grey, dark grey and sometimes a little bit of red is thrown in. Because the Lego pieces are mostly black and grey, I did find myself really having to concentrate on where pieces needed to go and the instruction booklet even ends up highlighting in yellow around where the pieces are going on a lot of the steps to help - which I did really appreciate. I would say that the recommended age of 10 years and older is therefore probably about right unless your child is an experienced builder. The set has one thick instruction booklet and also comes with a large sticker sheet. I'm not a fan of stickers and would much prefer printed bricks and a few of the stickers such as the wheel cover ones were a real pain to try to get on straight.Figures:-The set comes with 8 figures; Batman, Robin, Alfred Pennyworth, Batgirl, Polka Dot Man, Two Flying Monkey's and the Wicked Witch of the West. The attention to detail on the figures is brilliant and I love that Lego included the Wicked Witch and her Flying Monkeys. Polka Dot Man and Alfred are also favourites of mine but my Son loves Robin and his wacky glasses that are attached to his hair piece.Parts:-The set has a buildable Bat-Signal and my only gripe with this is that the bat does not shine in the centre of the light and so it is a little bit off-centre on its projection (my Husband noticed this first and now annoyingly it's the first thing I notice when my Son is playing with it however its worth pointing out that he hasn't noticed and I don't think he'd care anyway as he loves the set). I double checked that I had built the Bat-Signal correctly and then noticed someone else has commented on the Bat-Signal being off-centre on the Lego site and so it looks like the clear plastic dome has been misprinted slightly. The Ultimate Batmobile is built in stages with the Batcycle being built first and then the Batmobile followed by the Bat-Tank and then finally the Batwing. The way they can connect together to make the Ultimate Batmobile is really very clever and very well designed. My Son absolutely loves this set and I must admit that despite needing a lot of concentration because of the dark colour scheme that I did enjoy building this over a few nights for him. The shooting elements are great and the finished model really does look like the film version. The set isn't the cheapest Batman Movie one but I did notice recently that

I built this for my son - I found it a fairly time consuming build as it has a lot of parts (1500) and elements. Nothing too technical say compared to a Technic model, but I think you'd need a very capable and patient 10 year old to build this - it's better for the older end of the scale. It's a complex set and brilliantly done in having the 4 entirely separate models that amazingly combine back into a single, reasonably robust, super version. The Bat Cycle is simple and probably the least rewarding build. The Bat Mobile works very well as a standalone model. Alfred's "tank" is an intimidating squat beast, bristling with guns, cannons and a hidden storage area. The Bat Wing is also a little basic but it's an elegant craft and the spring loaded shooters are some of the most powerful I've come across on a Lego model. When combined the 'super' model is a little wobbly around the joins, but still playable and has a real presence with the colouring and detailing. The final model is fairly robust - the 'tails' come off a bit easily as do the cone guns and the boosters on the Bat Wing - but once they fall off, very little else seems to go wrong with it.You get an amazing array of figures too - even if the bad guys seems a bit out of place in so much as not having any vehicles. In the set is Batman, Robin, Alfred, Batgirl (with additional pony tail), Wicked Witch, Polka Dot Man and two flying Monkeys. The witch has a lot of detail - monkeys too (even if they are kind of weirdly disturbing). An amazing bit of Lego engineering and a lot in the set - in a way it's a shame its so closely tied to a film franchise as the detail and touches deserve a longer life to allow them to be appreciated.

This really is the ‘Ultimate’ Batmobile, with 1456 pieces (9 bags of bricks and a lot of stickers) and for the suggested age of 10 – 16. This is quite a complicated build and took a few hours to build, so it is certainly not a set for a novice to begin with. Saying that, this is a lot of fun and is a really clever set, with lots of mini figures and play value. The set requires you to make different parts, which fit together (and later come apart), which makes the assembly a little complicated. As always, though, the instruction booklet is very easy to follow and I enjoyed putting this together, with my son. The Ultimate Batmobile actually splits into four separate vehicles. The Batwing lifts away from the car,the back part comes away to turn into the ‘Bat-Tank,’ and, lastly, you can pull away the part that Robin sits in, which becomes a Bat-Cycle. This leaves what looks like a classic Batmobile; although you can see the gap where Robin was sitting, but, overall, this comes apart – and back together – extremely well. The Batmobile can shoot projectiles and there is a separate Bat Signal, which lights up to project a bat image. This swivels, so you can project the signal on walls, or the ceiling. This comes with an impressive array of mini figures. There are Batman, Robin, Bat-Girl, Alfred Pennyworth (exclusive to this set, in Bat Suit), Polka Dot Man, the Wicked Witch and two Flying Monkeys. This really is great fun, both to build and to play with as the finished product.

My first foray into a substantial lego build as an adult and it was BRILLIANT. This set is challenging (but not frustrating), detailed, and such fun to do.In the box, there are 9 bags containing parts for separate sections of the build. This made it easy to focus on one step at a time and ensure all parts were present and used correctly! It also helped me to stop at convenient points (so that I didn't continue through the night to finish it...although the temptation was strong!). The instructions were really clear - comprehensive, full colour and allowed even a lego-building novice like me to work through this 1400+ piece set.The set builds 4 bat vehicles (car; bike; tank; plane)which all cleverly connect to form the ultimate batmobile. The box also contains a bat signal light (that needs building) and 7 figurines including the Wicked Witch of the West. There are moving parts and shooters on sections of the vehicles, and the vehicles within vehicles mechanism makes for some realistic lego action! The level of detail on the vehicles is excellent, and even the characters have little fabric capes - you get the whole shebang! It took approximately 9 hours to build everything (over the course of a week) and for younger lego-ers there would be a lot of playability with the final products.I loved this and am now on the lookout for my next lego build (don't think the Deathstar or new Millenium Falcon are quite within reach yet...).

The Lego superhero sets haven't usually been my favorites, but I might have changed my mind after building this one. The Lego movie version of the Batmobile is completely tricked out, with amazing detail (especially considering that it's mostly in Batman's favorite color palette: serious black and greys). Plenty of room for Batman's pals to either ride along or break out on their own in the smaller vehicle components, and lots of weaponry for epic battles. The build is a little challening because of the small pieces, but I didn't find it frustrating since I took several breaks. Kids on the low end of the 10-16 age range might find it a little difficult unless they are already experienced Lego builders, but there is a certain sense of accomplishment in finishing a piece like this! The main model is pretty sturdy, but you can expect some little bits to pop off when Batman is in a tough battle; no worries, it's easy to tell where they go since the vehicle is a symmetrical design.Lots of cool elements and minifigs included (love the flying monkeys!), although I'm glad I already have some Jokers on hand to challenge Batman. The light-up brick in the Bat Signal is a bonus as well. I love the fact that the movie included so many oddball villains and other elements, this themed series could end up being one of the best Lego has offered in a while.

The Ultimate Batmobile is just that. It is true to the Lego movie and looks awesome. This is a harder build for younger children, so it does take a younger child longer to build. My nine year old had a little help from his brother. The instructions are great and are typical Lego, good and accurate. The Batmobile is very impressive piece, it is big and looks impressive. I also love the fact you get eight mini-figures. The other nice touch is the light brick for the bat signal. I guess a good LED light would really make this standout. The best part is that the Batmobile separates into 4 other vehicles. This is the most impressive part you get, The Batmobile, Batwing, Bat-Tank and Bat-Cycle.All the four vehicles are impressive in there own right. My son was truly impressed and really loves playing with the Batmobile and splitting it up and rebuilding again. I think the price is just right and any Batman fan will love this. If anything it is better than the Movie toys. Obviously, Lego is educational and allows children to modify and build and improve upon the base set.A highly impressive and recommended set for any Lego fan, more so for Batman fans.

I’ve been after this set since it was first previewed. However the price tag put me off. However this is currently half price on ASDA so I jumped at the chance and added this to my ever growing collection! The build is deeply satisfying and quite intricate on all vehicles in this set & they all look incredible on their own and as the “Ultimate Batmobile”The models are sturdy but do have a few little pieces that are liable to fall off. However you soon learn where these go and pop them back together swiftly. I do feel this is more suited to a display collection rather than a play.Build time for me was a little long as I have a newborn but I’m sure without distractions this is easily completed in a matter of hours! The bat signal is an incredible addition! The light up brick is a nice addition but don’t expect a crystal clear projection! The light also only stays on as long as you hold the button! The minifigures for me are the icing on the cake. Although I would of preferred the 3 flying monkeys and potentially another villain alongside Wicked Witch & PolkaDot man!In summary: 100% pleases with this set and thoroughly recommend!

As a lifelong devotee to Batman, an enthusiastic user of Lego in my youth and the father of a small boy who is just developing a Lego fixation being offered the chance to review this made my inner geek squeal with delight. As ever, with Lego the price tag reflects the size and complexity of the beast within and, yes, this is an eye catchingly expensive toy. It's also a very good one.Made with the usual high quality and packaged with an exciting design on its box - this is an awesome amount of fun.I've never had the most patience in the word when it comes to building things but i actually found this quite easy thanks to the good instructions. My son is some way off the recommended age bracket for building this but was perfectly happy playing with the figures as i built it (endless 'is it ready yet?' questions aside!) and i doubt anyone much younger than the prescribed age could manage the build.Once completed, the contruction is as robust as Lego can be and we've had a huge amount of fun playing with it. It's a really attractive and well thought out toy.For older Lego & Batman fans - well worth your investment

The 'LEGO UK 70917 "The Ultimate Batmobile" Construction Toy' is a costly and massive set, but which made our boys delirious with joy (including the 41 year old boy....). The set has approximately 1500 pieces, including eight mini-figures - always popular - and ties in with the Lego Batman Movie. The build is complex but not excessively so - our seven year old managed with some guidance - and the resultant vehicles are really impressive. The Batmobile itself looks great, and the boys loved that it could be split into different vehicles, which also helped reduce fighting about who got to play with it! As with all these sets, with children it will probably be very rapidly mixed in with their other Lego and never take the exact form it's supposed to again, but my personal feeling is that this is more the spirit of building with Lego - follow the instructions once, then afterwards modify it. The light brick Batsignal is lots of fun, and comes supplied with the required button cell batteries.Costly but stunning and huge set.

Lego 70917 - The Ultimate Batmobile. An amazingly detailed and quite complex build for this one.As is usual with Lego,RRP is ridiculous,so patience is a virtue in this regard as it'll be considerably cheaper in a few months. As I had Amazon vouchers,I bought it at £114(retail price is £140!),and only ended up paying £50.The four vehicles are relatively simple builds that, with a little lego manoeuvring, easily fit together with detailed instructions. The automobile and tank builds are good enough to be released as smaller sets themselves,so to have them plus two others in one box is a treat. There always has to be a gripe however,so mine is a lack of sturdiness on the build of the Batwing, with a fewpieces that fall or are on the verge of falling when attaching it to the main structure. If stickers aren't your thing, this set won't please either,as it had a fair few on a sheet,so a steady hand is needed. This is just nit picking however,as it's a 99.99% decent set otherwise.Enjoy it!

I have every single Lego Batman Movie set and this is definitely one of my favourites, I love how it transforms from one large vehicle into a Batmobile, Motorbike, Batwing, Bat tank. The minifigures are great to the wizard of oz witch and her flying monkeys, and Alfred in a black chauffeur suit and cap and a mask over his eyes. It's a 5 star set you'll love it.

Amazing! So much more to this than first thought! Not only is it a Batmobile but it splits off into different vehicles. It's a great size! Brilliant to build. My 6 year old loved this so much!
