I bought this to replace a 4 year old LED Lenser Head Fire torch, which has suffered a crack to the battery compartment. The H7.2 has a number of significant differences. First, the battery pack holds 4 AAA cells rather than 3, and is slightly larger and heavier as a result. Second, and particularly worrying given the heavier battery pack, the harness is only 2 straps around the sides of the head; my original had a third strap across the top of the head as well. The H7.2 has a soft neoprene backing on the lamp assembly, which is both comfortable and holds the head securely in place with no need for the third strap. The head itself is now focussable, being adjustable from a wide beam to a small spot with a turn of the head; it still pivots up and down easily, and is usefully smaller than the head on the old model, which did stick out quite a lot.The H7.2 also includes Lenser's microprocessor technology; it includes strobe modes, two power settings and a "boost" option for additional light, and a knob on the battery box which continuously adjusts brightness; a really useful feature. There is also a travel lock to prevent accidentally turning it on unintentionally, which works by holding the button down for five seconds. The only place this light loses out to the old one is in terms of accessories; the old model had a nice padded nylon belt pouch for storage; this one only has a small plastic clip on one strap to attach it to a D-ring or similar. I'm keeping the pouch from my old one, as the new lamp fits in it just fine.I really liked my old Lenser head torch, so needed a pretty much immediate replacement when it broke; I'm very pleased to see that the new one is even better in many ways. Like all Lenser products, it's expensive, but you get what you pay for. Recommended.

This review is the H7.2 non rechargeable. It takes 4xAAA cells. This way i can fit dry cells or rechargeables as i wish (although i have to charge them separately). This unit is to replace my old H3 which is now falling apart. The old had a better focus mechanism, but the tilt is better in this one.The H7 battery compartment is overly large and poor design. Firstly, they should fit 2 or 3x AA and not AAA. This would be better for battery life (AAA=1000mAh vs AA=2400). And if 2xAA, smaller and lighter. Even 2AA would be more energy than 4xAAA. Secondly the rigid back plastic cover is a pig to remove without breaking the tabs, which i can see will happen at some point. My old model had a rubber battery cover, which was awesome. I suppose this cost a fraction of a penny more, but then aren't these supposed to be premium units?I read some reviews saying the unit sometimes switches on when put in a bag. This just happened to me. Hopefully, this might be rare and i was unlucky. But i don't like the idea of the batteries being dead the moment i need it! Something to watch.Overall, the head lamp is pretty good. It's nice and bright. You can vary the brightness, the angle and the focus (ie beam width). It's more bulky than my old model, so make sure the straps are tight.I looked at all the more expensive rechargeable models, but i don't want that. I usually use two sets of rechargeable batteries. When one set give up, i swap in the other to finish the job.

Really great product. Would recommend to anyone who does night work - especially any ecologists like myself who could also use this when working in lofts. The function to turn the brightness up or down is really really useful too. It uses batteries as expected, I have now bought rechargeable ones to go in it but it certainly hasn't drained the ones that it came with. The fact it flashes three times to let you know that the batteries are running low is also great - it means you are unlikely to be caught short/without any light source. My only issue is that i do find it difficult to turn the ring that makes the beam wider or more focused - it can be done with both hands but i find it near onimpossible to do it with one hand which would be more useful.Have recommended this to friends and colleagues.

I bought this headtorch to replace an ageing Petzl MYO-XP whose headband had lost its elasticity and I’m mightily impressed! This latest generation LED is so much brighter than my Petzl, and the focus adjustment giving a wide or spot beam is a revelation. The multiple brightness levels, adjusted from the rear click-wheel, are a joy to use. My only gripe is the complexity of some of the controls around default setting of start-up brightness and selection of flashing mode, but I think that’s more to do with the instructions use of English! Build-quality isn’t up there with the Petzl, and I’m not so sure it’ll last as well, but then again it’s also one third the price.Overall I’m very impressed with this headtorch.

I use this torch on an almost daily basis working as an aircraft engineer alongside an Ledlenser P7.2! It's an incredibly bright torch, the whole menu system can be a little complicated but I haven't really found a need to change anything in day to day use other than just turning it on/off. I do find that it burns through batteries fairly quickly but as I get them supplied from work F.O.C. this isn't really a problem to me, if you're looking at this to use on a regular basis but have to supply your own batteries it may be worth investing in the rechargeable model or some rechargeable batteries.

Only problems I’ve had with this head torch are the battery box clips snapped when I dropped it, so my fault, but this should be expected as it sold as an outdoors headlight, and the head band elastic has worn out, but you can buy replacement ones.Shame LEDLenser over looked the battery box design so badly.Other than that, this is a great head torch, with amazing brightness, decent battery life and simple and effective focusing system. It’s used regularly at work and outdoors for running.I’d recommend it still, just don’t drop it.

This LED Lenser H3.2 is very well built very lightweight and puts out an amazing amount of light. I use the long beam to route find on the hills and mountains and it's super impressive, much better than any of my friends head torches. The batteries last ages and are easily replaced on the move if needed. I own 3 LED Lenser head torches and they are all equally as good. I use this one for summer and the larger H7.2 for winter. The price of them all compared to other brands is great too. Just buy one, you will be impressed ?

Amazingly bright light, everyone who has seen this comments on how bright it is. Just do not use cheap batteries with it as you do not get the best light from it. Stick with decent batteries and you will not be disappointed. You can adjust the brightness using the dial on the pack that sits at the back of your head. This was taken into account for close work in the dark. i.e. first aid on a cub camp in the middle of a wooded area! Where you do not need the strength of the light as it would be too much. Fantastic product!

I've had this for about a year. I use it for winter off-road running. It's plenty bright enough to run at full speed and see obstacles in the dark. The battery pack is reasonably comfortable when the strap is properly tensioned. Batteries seem to last several 1hr runs - when they start to run low it will give a warning flash. My only really minor niggle is that the on-off switch on the front is a bit hard to operate when wearing gloves. Otherwise it's an excellent product.

Well made item like the MK1 version but I just wish the manufacturer had not added all the various new operating modes.Call me old fashioned but I use it as a work light and all I need is the excellent focusing beam and the variable light intensity adjustment without all the "tech" modes that have been added on.Sometimes I feel you can "spoil the broth" with distracting things, which are unnecessary for my needs but OK for the "all whistles and bells brigade".

Nice and powerful head lamp, it has three functions (low power to high power, high power to low power and signal) and the power on pushbutton can be inhibited (very useful if you have a small pouch to hold it).It is a bit tricky to learn how to set it correctly and to lock the power switch, but the part I didn't like is that the lamp is not delivered with a pouch... considering the price of it I don't think a pouch would be a money loss...

Really good product. I have used lots of different head lamps over the years and this is by far the best I have ever used. When the beam is tight and on full power the range of light is amazing. One slight down side is it does eat the battery's abit more then others but that's due to the power you get with this one over others. If I lost mine today I would buy the same one again by tomorrow it's that good.

This is an excellent head torch, the battery compartment is quite bulky but you get used to that. The full strength spotlight is very good, more than most people need. (I use it for walking the dog at night).Although i have not tried it i would not recommend using this product for jogging as i doubt it would stay in place on your head but for any other activity i would recommed it.

I bought an earlier model of head lamp from Lenser and was very pleased with it except for the fact that the beam could not be adjusted from wide to narrow. It would only dim and brighten. When I saw this model with its dimming and focussing functions, I decided to buy it to replace the earlier model. I am very pleased with it and thoroughly recommend it.

This headtorch is superb. It is very bright, light and very comfortable to wear. I have used it on 2 night hikes: Mount Snowdon at night, in rain and snow and a stage of the GR20 in the Corsican mountains. It gave an extremely good spread of light on the widest beam, kept me safe and wasn't heavy on the batteries either (3 x AAA). A godsend.
