As well as selling this product we also use it at home (well we do when the kids let us ;-)The camera and video camera is a nice little addition to your Explorer making it an all round educational gadget for kids and reducing the need for a separate camera.Importantly for our kids you can customise photos, which they seem to enjoy more than taking the pics. Plus if you link up to your PC you can print them out too.Another nice feature is using your photos in mini games (such as your own jigsaws) so the kids can enjoy their own pics further.Similarly with the video camera feature you can do things like making your own pop video. It's amazing to see so many features in such a tiny accessory,it does the same as a much bigger top branded video camera whch is 4 times the cost. Of course it depends on you already having an Explorer but if you do this is an accessory not to be missed.You can also download different apps from the Leapfrog website (these usually cost extra) to add even more content and actions to your camera.Pros:- good price- easy to use- small, so doesn't make your Explorer much bigger in size or weight- great fun- does what a lot of the bigger kids cameras do at a 1/4 of the cost and sizeCons:- packaging is way bigger than it needs to be, which is wasteful- it currently only comes in green (though the green is limited to thumb grip, and bit around the lens, could easily be customised with stickers if you wanted to)- you do need to connect it to a PC for some of the features such as prinitng out your pics, though this is true of most kids digital cameras

We got this as a cheaper extra for our son when he got the Leapster for his birthday. I thought it would just be a camera with a few features on it, but it's an entire game in itself. The features he loves most are playing the videos and turning them into music videos using the preloaded tracks and special effects features in the cartridge. He also loves the many mini games where your face is imposed onto a spaceship or a picture turns into a puzzle, but the music video and the chance to graffiti pictures and warp faces is something he gets endless pleasure from.It's also great that it has it's own place to attach to so he can have the camera and a game in the Leapster at the same time.Two months on from his birthday and even after Christmas, the Leapster is still is favourite toy and the camera attachment is what he is playing with most of the time.The rating loses one star just because it was stupidly hard to set the thing up. The attachment will only work once you have correctly connected to the Leapster Connect system where you can then download the software onto the Leapster that will make the camera work. It took several times to get the connection sorted and several more times to get the Leapster to accept the camera's software, so don't expect any immediate play. If computers confuse you, then you're going to have a hard time. Why, oh, why the Leap Frog people can't put the software on the internal cartridge is beyond me.

I would recommend getting the Camera and Video Recorder for the Leapster Recorder as it really does add another dimension to game play. Plus it means we don't have to keep on sharing our camera with a 3.5 year old and having to say 'No' a lot. It's very easy to use allowing the user to take photos and make video recordings. Both can edited for humorous results and the photos can be used in learning activities included as part of the software. . We've been able to use our walks, visit to the park, searching around the house etc. to find various items to photograph and include in stories. It's also fun to have your picture inserted in a story. Additionally, you can upload via the pc to Leapster Connect to print photos and more.Try it and find out, you won't be disappointed in a camera that also provides learning tools.

this is amazing i'm only just reviewing it now for some reason but we've had it a couple of years now and my son is still playing with it as he gets older the games go up so are suited for him he loves it and now his little brother who is three has started playing too using the younger kids games it really helps my older son find the fun in spelling and math , he doesn't loose concentration like when he has a pencil and paper ,, love this

My 6 year old loves this, she particularly likes taking the photos and making funny faces, creating her own photo album. There is a great game on it where you use your own photos to make jigsaw puzzles. Downside is that you have to hold the camera very still and the subject must sit still too or it does blur easily and the same with the camcorder. But, still good fun and Amazon were way way cheaper than anybody else by far.

My daughter was bought the explorer for Christmas by her Grandparents, her friend has the leap pad which has a built in camera so my daughter was jealous hers did not have a camera or video so my husband found this on line. It is a fantastic addition, she can now make her own videos and has her own album of photos. She can also make drawings and puzzles with the photos she has taken. Well worth a tenner.

Bought this as an addition to the Leapster for Xmas, Children have had hours of fun taking photos and videos, very impressed by the way they have used their imagination and taken images of pratically everything in the house, even the crib and xmas decs. They love then adding additions to the photos. Well worth every penny.

Bought this for my 2 girls, they really like taking pictures, making an album with them and also drawing funny faces on their pictures.Only thing I can fault on is that there doesn't seem to be a flash, so pictures can be dark or blurry but would still recommend as its fun for the kids!

My boys received the camera attatchments with the leapster explorer for christmas and they love them they enjoy taking photo's or video clips and then using the art tools and drawing funny faces or adding stamps to them. My son's are 4 and 3 and even my 3 year old finds it easy to use!

I bought this for my son for Christmas and it has kept him and his sisters entertained for hours. They have taken some great pictures, played games and we even uploaded some of their pictures to Facebook via Leapfrog Connect. LOVE all Leapster toys! Educational and fun.

we purchased the video/camera accessory when it was £7.49 on Amazon, a bargain price and my 4 year old enjoyed trying to capture some photos with it....worth getting if you have the Leapster Explorer just check around to get the best price, which goes without saying !

My son likes the new camera and video attachment. You just need a USB cable to download a software from leapfrog. I don't have a leapfrog USB cable but i did have a universal one that fitted the leapfrog and i used it to download the software for my son to use.

My son is 5 years old and has a lot of fun playing with the camera and taking pictures. Some of the educational games he plays, require him to take pictures and create his characters and he enjoys doing them. Very sturdy and has managed to survive a few falls.

Bought it for my 5 year old daughter, who at first wanted a kids camera. Got her camera attachment to leapster instead and has loads of fun with it. She s learnt to navigate well and is now adding her own voice recordings to photos. Also great value for money!

Omg this camera attatchment is amazing my 4 year old loves it and unfortunately for him so do all of us adults it's brilliant and great for the money too well worth purchasing hours of fun and we have not even used half if the functions on it yet xxx
