Having decided that it was time to revisit those happy evenings spent talking and socialising around a hot fondue pot just like we used to in the 70's, we had to find some equipment that both looked good and was safe to use in these Health & Safety conscious times. Le Creuset Cast Iron fondue pots appeared to fulfill both these criteria, especially from a safety point of view. They come with a very sturdy base, which is shaped so that the pot, once in position, will not move or tilt. The pot itself is extremely heavy, ensuring that no heavy handed diner will make it tip over, the burner (like most on sale at the moment) converts from a standard methylated spirit holder to take the new gel compound heat sources and the heavy lid /fork holder fits snugly and safely to keep the forks safely in place.The best part was that when we came to clean the pot after use, it was quick and easy and looked as if it had never been used.In fact it was so good, we have purchased another and have since had a fondue party with one pot for cheese and one pot for oil - both work equaly well and they still look brand new.The only reason I have not given it a 5 star rating is that the price is high compared with other fondue sets on the market, but as the saying goes "you only get what you pay for".Many more fondues planned for the future as a result.

If you are anything like me, a little lacking in culinary confidence, then this is the product for you. Invite the guests, fill the fondue with oil, slice up the the steak (and other items on the menu, such as veggies etc) into cubes and present on the table with the fondue forks and plenty of sauces (bernaise etc). Let your guests cook their own food on the table! People always comment what a great night they had, even years later, and no-one need know how terrible a cook you really are! Fantastic product, I looked at a few fondue sets and this was certainly the best value (for quality). Also recommend the Le Creuset Tagine.
