Well firstly if you've already played Hotel Dusk: Room 215, Last Window is basically the sequel. I wouldn't say it's better, or even worse, it's just another story where you solve puzzled, question residents in the apartment building, and discover each of their secrets and mysteries. You play Kyle Hyde, an ex detective who must solve the mysteries of the apartment building he's residing in. You meet other residents, each with their own suspicious quirks, you gather items to help solve puzzles, whether it's how to reach a certain object or examine photographs and letters. The only bad points about this game is that it can sometimes be 'Game Over' for the most ridiculous reasons,a lot more often than the first game, but it's no worries because you can just retry and start from when you were before. Also, because I've already managed to finish this game makes me wish the makers could have made it last a bit longer, but it's still better than most games on the Nintendo DS.To Summarise+ Challenging mystery game where you skulk round an apartment building finding missing objects and solving puzzles, as well as uncovering the dark secrets of Hotel Cape West+ Brilliant background music and Film Noir style animation+ Around a dozen characters to interact with and interrogate, each with a unique personality+ It's fun!- You get 'Game Overs' for silly reasons. Not all the time though- I wish it was longer, but only because it was so goodA top game for anyone who likes solving puzzles or general mystery games. A bit like the monkey island series but without the goofy humour. If you haven't played Hotel Dusk before either I seriously recommend that also. And if anyone else knows any other good mystery games for DS or PC, please let me know. Thanks!

I have been desperate to play this game since it came out as i love Hotel Dusk and have played it over and over, but i resisted from buying it and i put it on my Christmas list instead and my sister thankfully bought me it. I just completed it today. I absolutely love it! Definately worth the wait and also kept my mind off stressful things going on in my life at the moment.I love Kyle Hyde, probably the most handsome character ever. As soon as i started this game and entered Cape West i knew it was going to be amazing, i couldnt wait to meet all the new characters and they dont dissapoint. As i was going through it, there were points where i nearly went online for a walkthrough but i resisted and was determined to complete this one without help, but near the end i failed and had to get a little help, but it was hard! The story is brilliant. And one of the coolest things is getting to play Billiards, i dont know why but it's quite addictive. Now i've finished the game, it has been added to the menu and every time i choose to play it, i'm playing against a different character each time. These games have a way of making you wish there was a place like Cape West/Hotel Dusk in real life. I cant really say anymore than other reviewers have already but it's so amazing, i hope they make another one because i cant get enough. If anyone has ever played Titanic, Adventure Out of Time on the PC, that is a similar style game and i really wish the makers of these games could convert that to DS because they would do an amazing job, and that is also an amazing game, just too old to play on modern PC's now.

I give this game five stars because it is not a game over in two minutes much like many of the games around. You get a good amount of play from this game so it is worthy of five stars for that alone.Much like Hotel Dusk the puzzles are easy to do (in fact there is little in the way of puzzles just common sense)the dialogue is far too long at times and therefore a better game could be achieved if there was less dialogue and more search and puzzle investigation. This game is very much like the first one so a little less intriguing, it is the same location with a little change of rooms in the lobby area. You start each chapter (ten) having to react to a new piece of information, search out items, occasionally you need to open, find, move, show, use or combine an item in your inventory or solve a puzzle. Ask questions of many individuals some by reacting to questions on screen that are thrown up in conversation and sometimes you need to use the right choice of two approaches to gain the answer, if you opt for the wrong choice you will find you have game over and need to start again from your last save. You can save at any point when not in dialogue with another character. At the end of each chapter you need to recap and answer a series of questions based on what has happened during that chapter, at the end of this you are given the option to save your game prior to starting the next chapter.

Last Window is a sequel to Hotel Dusk, but you don't need to have played the previous game to understand the plot. The story is complex enough to hold interest, but not too hard to understand. It has a range of characters that you will grow to care about (well, most of them, anyway), and puzzles that usually fall perfectly between challenging and fun- though, like the last game, there are a couple of insanely difficult ones, and some game overs that are impossible to avoid first time playing (but don't worry, the game will take you back to just before your mistake. It makes devious usage of the DS's unique features, so keep that in mind while solving puzzles. Also be very careful in what you say to people- the wrong words can lead to an instant game over! This game has a lot of replay value (there are all sorts of cool things hidden around the game to enrich the experience) and it has a satisfying, if slightly bittersweet, ending. The biggest downside is that with CiNG's bancruptcy, we won't see another game in this series, but rest assured that both this game and it's predecessor are works of art that are truly brilliant to play. Highly recommended.

Having played Hotel Dusk a few years ago I had been constantly checking the new releases to see if a sequal had been released. At last my prayers were answered!Last Window is basically a sequal to Hotel Dusk and is based around the main character, Kyle Hyde. There are also plenty of other characters to get to grips with, many with shady pasts who aren't necessarily what they seem. The storyline to the game is amazing and right up my street as i am a lover of all Detective/Mystery games.Unlike some games, the puzzles are integrated into the action occurring within the storyline and seem to flow very naturally. Some require a bit of lateral thought which can keep you banging your head for hours.I cannot recommend this game enough, but I would suggest playing Hotel Dusk first. I know one or two people have commented that the dialogue can be a bit drawn out, but in my view this is essential to the game and the whole thing would fall a bit flat without it.To the manufacturers, PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't let me wait another three years for the next installment. There are so few games on the market within this genre.

I'll never forget the day I discovered this game. It'd been two years since I'd completed Hotel Dusk, and I had never once considered the existence of a sequel. Then one day, I walked into my local Game store, and, for no particular reason, I was looking through the DS section - and like an antique to the trained eye, with the unmistakable portrait of Kyle Hyde, Last Window arrested my attention, and I had to have it.It was the perfect sequel. Everything had been improved. The story was deeper; the character count increased; the music was incredible and the menus were reformed. For that month, Last Window became the main focus, as I navigated the twists and turns of Kyle Hyde's new mysterious adventure. Both games are well-worth a buy.Shame they didn't attract more attention; then again, the best ones rarely do.

I have already played the first game - Hotel Dusk and I didn't hesitate when buying the sequel. These types of games however, are for people who do like to read, investigate and really get into a good story. It is a heavy reading game, and unless you're more of a 'Getting on with the game' type of person, I would really avoid it, as you will come out very disappointed. Me on the other hand, I love a good story and the reading is just part of it.The game is smart and witty and really drags you in as you're shocked and surprised by how the story can twist and turn into something else.If you've played the first game, then you'll love this.Game and case arrived in great condition,I can still play it on my 3DS with no problems, Thanks so much!

I have wanted to play this game for years and I have to say that the graphics of the game were amazing and how you hold your DS console on its side to play it like your holding a book. I thought the story line was really well planned out and if you made a mistake in the game you could restart that part again and have another go at getting it right. However I felt there was too much dialogue sometimes in the game and it did drag on sometimes for far too long. Also I like that when it came to a end of a chapter you would have to recap on what has just happened in the story-line which is a good way of remembering what has just happened.

After playing Hotel Dusk, i was so excited when i heard that Last Window was being released. You again play Kyle Hyde, an ex detective salesman. This game flashes back to a mystery including his father and the mysterious fourth floor. The storyline changes with the decissions you make and includes puzzels to solve alone the way. There are an array of interesting complex characters to interact with, question and solve puzzels/mysteries for.Graphics are fantastic and you also get a novel to read along the way. I enjoyed this even more than Hotel Dusk. Dare i say it even better than the Professor Layton trilogy!!!!

Having played hotel dusk before and loved it, I knew when I saw this one I had to get it. It's the same style as the previous game: sketched characters and holding the games console like a book. This time its set in Kyle Hydes apartment building and where he tries to find out the truth behind his fathers murder. It links in briefly with the previous game with characters from both games and references to a case or two from hotel dusk. Overall a very good game. I've managed to complete it several times and dont get bored.

I want to play these type of games and only these type of games forever, but they just don't make enough of them. Just love this game and the previous one. Always searching for stuff like this; played flower, sun and rain, it was similar and very weird; check it out if you are looking for something else in this genre, but in the meantime Last Window is a fantastic game, the atmosphere draws you in like no other game; it's not for everyone, it's very slow and there's a lot of reading, but that's the point.

I have been waiting for this game for a few years and think Cing has once again done a great job. The graphics are fantastic as in hotel dusk, intuitive game play and plenty of puzzles which allow you to discover the mystery. If you liked the first one this is definately a must have.I have another code for the DS and the second part of the wii version which I also recommend.I'm looking forward to seeing more games from this company as I haven't found one that I don't like yet.

What an amazing game.I have just completed this wonderful sequel to Hotel Dusk (another fantastic game from Cing) and it was every bit as good.It was great to get to know the characters and get absorbed in the story and I think the new idea of reading the novel as you progress through the game is brilliant. You don't have to do this but it is worthwhile. I really hope that they have another sequel out soon as this is quite simply one of the best games of all time...

28.1.2011

just as well the artwork on this game is so pleasing as this looks exactly the same as Hotel Dusk. Nicely drawn characters , sometimes the dialogue does drag on a bit and you wonder whether the question selections you're given have any real effect at all as the game logic will simply push you back into another conversation if you haven't asked everything. GTA it is not but its relaxed pace and storyline make it ideal for a 20 minute session in bed ..

I own the first game in this series, and found this on Amazon, not realizing it was a follow on from Hotel Dusk. It is a great game if you like a game with a story and plenty of puzzles along the way. You interact with characters to solve the story. You can get it wrong and the game ends but you can continue from where you made the mistake. Great game that makes you think and you make your own decisions right or wrong.
