We replaced an HP OfficeJet with the Ecosys M5521cdn printer, as the HP’s print heads were slowly failing. We were at regular Brother and HP customer for years, but Kyocera has won us back. “Won us back” because, several years ago, the office was home to a black and white laser printer by Kyocera. Looking back, the machine was quite reliable, and I can no longer say why we got rid of it. That’s water under the bridge: today Kyocera has launched a colour laser printer that promises exceptional durability. Drums and transfer units are designed to last the life of the printer, at least if you base your print volume on what is promised. On average, we print maybe five pages a day,but evenly spread out: nothing for two weeks at all, then 100 pages in one go. The printer must be ready for this at all times, and thank God, dried-up ink is not an issue here. We don't care about photo resolution either, as our red company logo is usually the only thing that has to look reasonable in colour. The rest is black and white, and everything else is optional rather than compulsory. Now to the device itself: the box is really massive and comes on a pallet, although this probably depends on the supplier. You shouldn’t think about unpacking the printer on your own: the package is too heavy and the printer is too bulky. With two people, it’s all good. After removing heaps of transport locks removed, a rather large and bulky device stood before us in the office. The printer is not subtle, neither in its size or its shape. It's pretty old-fashioned. Very angular, with very few curves. The product pictures are not deceptive here, the printer gives the impression of a “real” office machine whose design is of little interest because it usually lives in the back room. It is really recommended to read the easy-to-understand manual for commissioning, as the other recorders are right! Thanks for the tip, it was worth it. With a little setup work the printer now works on our print server, we use the Windows version of PaperCut. Everything runs smoothly, all clients can print, the printer behaves on the network exactly as we expect. It is important to us that duplex works because it saves a lot of paper and ultimately storage space. This is what the printer does. We also copy things occasionally, usually delivery notes, which have to be filled in “right now.” Here, too, the printer does exactly what it should and it is very responsive. I had read that there were problems with the print speed or quality. I cannot confirm this with our setup. Everything is fast and sharp here. We use Windows Server 2016 as our print server, together with PaperCut and it runs perfectly for us. The printer can do a lot more, with management options that do not need. That is why I have little to report on this. One function that is essential, and which also does its job perfectly, is scanning. This also supports direct scanning to a network share. This is absolutely essential for us, because we automatically archive all our documents in this way. The Kyocera is doing exactly what it's supposed to, scanning and storing everything as we need it. I'm delighted! All in all, the printer is a real asset to our office, especially because it behaves inconspicuously just as you would expect it to. No complaints, no problems. If the running costs for the toner - which we may have to change every two years - are higher, then I can live with that. Nothing is more expensive than dealing with annoying printers, so the Kyocera is the best so far!

This will come through as an unverified purchase, however, fuzion are close to me and I know them so I dealt direct with them.I needed a new and better printer for work, as I produce documents and print short runs at home. I compared most laser MFPs and in terms of value for money the Ecosys stood out. In terms of functionality, this printer has far more than I or most people will ever use. The import things to me are quality of output, speed, wireless capability and ease of setting up print jobs. For three of the four requirements this printer is outstanding. Print quality at 1200 x 1200 dpi is superb for text and graphics. Photos are ok and fine when smaller ones are included in a document. However, printing a full A4 photo shows the printer produces passable results, not outstanding. Speed is excellent at 21 prints/copies per minute and the processing of print files quick. My printer is upstairs in a bedroom and most jobs are printed by the time I've walked up the stairs to pick the job up. Setting up the print jobs and/or scanning jobs is easy. There is a desktop windows app that you can use. Or, the official Kyocera andriod app is superb. Printing from your smartphone is a novelty to me, but having used it, and google print, you wonder how you managed without it. My only criticism of the printer is the wireless set up. It comes with the CD and a huge manual on it. Following the instructions in the manual didn't work, and were confusing. Once I worked out how to do it, and worked out the translated terminology - its simple and has been a totally stable connection. Hence keeping the 5 star rating. In summary, I wholeheartedly recommend this printer. Print quality is excellent, copying and scanning both work fine (theres a fax if you need it). Its a fast printer, as is the scanning function. Its very quiet, and economical.

The Kyocera Ecosys MS5521cdn replaces a Brother MFC-L2720DW b/w laser and we are completely satisfied so far. The setup is quick and easy: connect the network cables, connect the power and get started. Printing, copying and scanning worked for us immediately, and perfectly so far, using domestic Macs running OS X. Basically you can even launch AirPrint directly, without installing the drivers, but the drivers do offer a lot of additional configuration options, so I think it makes sense to use them anyway. The small display means that some controls are buried under several layers, but the features themselves are comprehensive. In addition, the Ecosys offers a convenient web interface,so that you are no longer dependent on the printer’s own configuration menu. For normal office documents, the quality is very good: we have only copied coloured documents and are completely satisfied. Noise and odours are limited and, even so, the printer does not become noticeable in standby until it is used. I can't say anything about the actual printing costs yet and will add to my review if this point changes my opinion. All in all a solid printer for the home office.

This is certainly the quietest laser printer I've ever owned, and I've had a good number of them over the years.Easy to use, prints beautifully and the Eco-Save toner feature is useful if you have a larger job but where you don't need the quality to be of the highest standard.Well built, pretty fast at getting the job out and excellent support from the vendor. It also scans faster than anything I’ve used before as well so, five stars, I’d say.

Bought this for one of my offices, we already have one in another office. Great print quality, only downside is the lack of auto duplex scanning, but for the cost this isn't a major issue

Arrived ahead of time. Take some time on how you want it setup for your use.Good prints (colour and B&W). No Wifi scan and print. But can do some variations to enable it to do so.

Great printer, does everything and has duplex unit. WiFi connection ability makes this simple to use though putting WiFi code in is a pain and printer can forget it sometimes
