Kyocera Ceramic Grater Mini Slicer Set, 7.1-inch x 4.1-inch x 3.4-inch, BlackI have been wanting one of these slices but have been disappointed in the past so I had some hesitation with this one at first. When I opened it I became a little more confident because I like the feel when it's assembled. Each one of the 3 pieces slides into the frame and sit inside it. I haven't had issues where it has slid on me as I cut but I make sure to have a firm grip when I use it.(I am really torn between 3-4 stars for this but when I factor in the price point and the competing options- 3 stars.)The bottom container isn't large so you can't cut a whole lot of vegetables before you have to empty it.It's manageable though if it was any smaller it would be a little annoying. The blades are sharp. I was impressed by that aspect. Yes, it does cut very thinly but I like that. If I wanted to cut larger pieces that's easy enough to do with a knife. I really wanted this to quickly do the thin cuts that take more effort with a knife. The grater piece is probably the one I use least often. I am not sure if it just me but I have trouble getting it to really grade cheese easily. It works ok for some parmesan cheese brands I have tried, from my experience the drier the cheese the easier it was to use this. I mainly stick with the two other pieces that have blades though. Those are what I really wanted to begin with.I do like how everything is able to be stored together. The frames all stack on top of each other and the plastic cover sits on top. However, a little bit of a pet peeve here is that it doesn't seal together. So if you knock it over it would fall apart in the drawer. I know I am being a little picky but this would be such a big help if when you went to store it the lid snapped in so it was all secure. Just a small thing but it does annoy me a tad. It does all fit together so a slight knock wouldn't have them fall but if you knocked it on its side the lid can fall off. I like things that are compact and easily stored which this is but it's missing the ability to keep it sealed.Overall, It works and I like it. Do I think this will hold up for a long time, probably not. I'm sure I will get enough use out of it though. The price point is probably the biggest issue for me. This isn't the lowest quality slicer on the market but it's far from the best. Though I haven't owned one before I have used others. This isn't a bad product but compared to other options in this price range I have trouble suggesting this one.

This Kyocera Slice & Grate mini ceramic grater is smaller than my hand. It’s easy to store due to its compact size and how well the pieces stack. This set has two attachments with ceramic blades for cutting thin slices and julienne matchsticks and a third all plastic attachment that’s a grater. The food is captured in a clear container that seats in a rubbery base to keep it from sliding while in use, and a lid fits for storing the contents. The ceramic blades are really sharp, and food glides thru easily when cutting slices and julienne matchsticks. It takes seconds to julienne zucchini and other vegetables for salads. I’ve found the slicing blade works great for thin slices of onions (thickness not adjustable). The plastic grater works well for finely grating/zesting ginger root. I believe it will finely grate (like a microplane) very hard cheese like Romano and maybe a hard cheddar that isn’t crumbly, but I don’t think this can shred like a box grater. This set has a hand guard that works well when I’m slicing onions. But there is some trial and error as I’ve also fumbled around with it when slicing harder vegetables with less surface area, like zucchini. Perhaps my vegetables were still too thick. The pieces are dishwasher safe per the Kyocera site. I initially washed all pieces in the dishwasher and I continue to wash the attachments in the dishwasher mainly because my one cut was from hand washing. I usually wash the clear container and lid by hand as it’s so easy and will likely wear better over time. But there are no signs of wear thus far from using the dishwasher. This set does have some limitations but they’re largely due to its compact size. The trade off is worth it to me, but that’s a personal choice. Mainly, this will yield only very thin slices and skinny julienne matchsticks (see photos). I’m happy with those options, but some may want more flexibility. Also, the grater is limited to functions more like a microplane, though I’m happy with it as I use it mostly for ginger root and it’s better than using my box grater for ginger as I’d have to reach up inside to get the stuck on ginger. This works really well for my needs, it stores easily, and it’s a well made little set. Like it a lot. 4.5 stars. Made in Japan.

Note: none of my photos turned out in the order of this review.I have a Kyocera slicer that I've had for probably 30 years that I still use all the time and love, so I thought I'd give this little mini set a try. I like it a lot.My favorite blade is the Julienne blade. (last photo) It does a fantastic job at julienning delicate, super-thin pieces that will be perfect for making Spring Rolls,...our favorite. The slicer blade works very well. I did not care for the grater blade. (photo 7) I tried grating an onion and a radish, and it turned them into watery mush. Maybe I was doing something wrong.Other things that I like:*The rubbery base keeps the device secure on even our textured, granite countertops.(photo 4)*I like that the food falls down into the container, which has a lid that you can cover your slices with if I wish to store in the refrigerator.*I can grab the set with all the blades stored in it with one hand. It doesn't take up much room in the drawer.*It's easy to use but feels awkward once you get down so far that you have to put the guard on.I do have a No Cry glove when I use this slicer, which protects my hand if I get too close to the blades: https://www.amazon.com/NoCry-Cut-Resistant-Gloves-Performance/dp/B00MXUHHGK/ref=pd_rhf_cr_s_pd_crcd_1_2/136-3878154-9801455?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B00MXUHHGK&pd_rd_r=48132b24-d54a-4736-8282-eea8acb86a00&pd_rd_w=rv70v&pd_rd_wg=jtHQh&pf_rd_p=8019ba47-0a12-4976-b76b-5c932d60db6f&pf_rd_r=EDJDVRGR5EJ0FV1BCH08&psc=1&refRID=EDJDVRGR5EJ0FV1BCH08Overall, I'm very happy with this slicer and I think I'll get a lot of use out of it. I won't use the grater blade because I have other tools that do a better job. I will be julienning up a storm though. (Spring Rolls!)

This is a handy, small mandoline that stores compactly and is a nice fit for use in our RV. It seems well made and the ceramic blade does a nice job of slicing. Two things dropped this to 4 stars, though, and I wish 3.5 was an option.First, it's really only good if you want to slice vegetables and such very thin. Because there doesn't seem to be any way to adjust the thickness, you only get one choice and if you want a thicker slice, that's not an option. Second, due its compact size, which can be a positive, the box that the slices fall into is quite small. To address that, my wife was interested in using the advertised notches that allow you to use the slicer over a bowl or other container.Unfortunately, this compact unit does not have the notches even though the larger units by this company seem toSo, if you are in need of a slicer that can give you very thin, delicate slices and you are doing smaller quantities that will fit well into the attached tray, then this is the mandoline for you.As I said, good quality and a nice piece of equipment, but it may not be able to do all the things you need it to in the kitchen.(One side note -- they make a big deal out of always using the hand protector, but it doesn't seem to work all that well, and in all of the company's pictures and videos, they show someone slicing and grating without it!)

You won't want to use this to process a large volume of vegetables, but it works quite well to slice a cucumber and grate a bit of carrot for salad. This is a *very* small and narrow grater/slicer, especially given that most American vegetables are gigantic. You would not, for example, be able to slice an eggplant on this, unless it were one of those thin Asian ones, and even then you could only do coins, not lengthwise slices. Given its limitations, it works well. And unlike some other reviewers, I actually like its grinding plate. They call it a grater, but the "julienne" slicer produces what Americans think of as grated food. The "grater" produces Asian-style ground radishes and carrots and other hard, root vegetables. It's almost a puree, it's that fine. Basically ground. It's just not something Americans generally do with vegetables, so most people won't find that function very useful.

This is a 3 blade compact mandoline set that features ceramic blades on 2 of the attachments (slicer and julienne board) and an all plastic grating board. The attachments all work great provided that the ingredients are under 3 inches or so in width. The attachments are set on the top of a storage container that comes with a matching lid to properly store your ingredients to use. All told, provided you are mindful of its sizing it works quite well with easy operation, sharp slicing blade and a rubberized bottom that holds the vessel firmly in place.

This is an awesome item if you do fancy cuts and swanky things with your food, OR if you like to make garnishes for drinks and cocktails. It has a nice grippy base to keep it in place when working (which comes in handy since it's so small!) and actually was easy to use even with my clumsy fingers. It takes up very little room when stored. I love it and will definitely keep on hand. Just keep in mind it's not ideal for slicing up 20 lbs of potatoes for a big meal, this is for more small and precise tasks.

I've been wanting to get a slicer, but really won't use it that much so it didn't make sense to get a large capacity one. This is perfect for my needs. Slice onions, cheese, etc. but easily store away in a cabinet when not in use. Has the different blades I want and the hand guard. The bottom comes off and does offer some help with grip, but you might want to hold it with your hand as well. Overall pleased.

This is a nice little mandolin that stores in a small space. The pieces stack but don't attach to one another or go into a case -- they just stack. The blades are sharp and let you quickly slice most fruits and vegetables. It speeds up meal prep as well as basic slicing. It cuts even pieces, which means they will cook evenly and make your recipes work better. It looks good on the counter, too.

16.3.2021

If you’re trying to go for thin slices then this grate would be perfect, it’s fairly simple to slice and requires little effort, (non-slip). Though I don’t believe you’re going to be able to cut larger slices. Easy to clean and lightweight, takes up little space which would be perfect for small kitchens. Overall, the set comes with all the necessary materials, would recommend.

13.5.2021

The blades are sharp and everything works well, but it is tiny. it is for small quantities and for small vegetables to be sliced. I wish it had a better system for storing parts, because if you just stack the attachments, the lid would not lock or even close all the way and it is too easy to bump it off and then to spill everything out

Kyocera is a brand we value as being quality materials and quality workmanship. We like this mini grater slicer set for cleanly cutting vegetables and such without imparting a metallic taste because of the ceramics. It is very compact and doesn't take up much space in the kitchen which is great.

16.7.2021

This is exactly what I wanted and is perfect for my needs. It is small but I slice mostly for one (myself). The ceramic blades are important to me to maintain enzyme integrity in raw foods. They are sharp and slice the most beautiful very thin slices.

7.4.2021

This isn't going to replace my food processor, but it works great when I just need a little bit of something. I always use a kevlar glove with any kind of slicing device like this.

5.3.2021

I have always been happy with Kyocera products. This little slicer is also great.
