I used to have a Prestige Hi-dome - which was fine actually although yes it did hiss a bit - but when the link was suggested between aluminium and altzheimers, I stopped using it. I have often thought about getting a replacement but just never got round to it. However, I make stock often, and soups, and casseroles and so, because of the terribly high price of fuel, decided to get one. I hummed and hawed before buying this particular model; it was the one I wanted but was so expensive. I very luckily managed to get a bargain through Amazon Warehouse and got an 8 litre Hotel model for £135.00 If I had known how much pressure cookers have improved since my Prestige went,

I bought my Kuhn Rikon 12 litre Duromatic five months ago, and so I have had plenty of time to evaluate its pros and Cons.Over the course of the past 30 years I have owned many different brands of pressure cooker (Tower, Fagor, Butterfly - and others). They have all suffered from one fault: they leak steam. I live on a small boat, and steam is one of my worst enemies. Steam hitting the side of the boat condenses and makes everything wet.The Kuhn Rikon is the first pressure cooker I have ever owned which doesn't leak large amounts of steam during the process of building up pressure. Of course, this also means that it comes up to pressure more quickly- and that's another plus!Why have I only awarded this product 4 stars?

This a a good lump of stainless steel with quality finish and components.The only comments I would make is the instructions for fitting the seal to the lid may as well be written in Mandarin and the diagram is as clear as Ikeas efforts,Secondly in use watch when you open the lid as the steam will burn your fingers because the handles are so short. Better to buy the pot version with the long handle!Thirdly, the pressure indicator is a spring loads stem with two red bands on it. Due to the shiny reflective surface it can look like two red bands are showing when it's actually only one and it's reflection! This will result in an undercooked dish so beware of that.

A very high quality deep frying pan and pressure cooker. The stainless steel is heavy and thick so food does not stick but you need to be confident and reasonably strong to use (i.e. no good if your wrists are weak). I have several WMF pressure cookers also and by comparison this is the best. I bought it for making cheesecakes and more surface area for browning, etc. The capacity is just the right size for a family of three or four. It is very quiet and I prefer the method of venting from the top valve so there is no side ejection of steam for a fast pressure release.

Good size for family. Has made some tasty tender dishes. Only critism is it would have been good if it came with a recipe book. Some of the guidance times in manual are a bit hit and miss. Eg i cooked a leg of lamb and guidance says joint of lamb 30 mins but took out after this time and it was raw in the middle.

Very pleased with the quality and performance of this pressure cooker, fantastic results if you use the cooking times advised in the manual, would definitely recommend to anyone wanting to cook in a hurry! 8lt is a big big though, I think the 6lt would be perfectly adaquate for a family of 4-5.

Perfect - enthusiatic home chef here - the extra wide pot makes it much easier to brown meat and vegetables before cooking. The design of the steam valve means that there are few moving parts and even better none which can be mislaid when cleaning up. Flawless!

Really good piece of kit, on my 3KW induction hob gets up to pressure in 1.5 minutes and sterilises at 1.2 bar in 15 mins no problems, then you can release the pressure in 20 seconds and job done. Brilliant!

This pressure cooker is amazing. Quiet, plenty of space for whole large chicken.Really great product. Highly recommending this pressure cooker. After couple years of use hassle free and look still great.

I love this pressure cooker. I have been using it at least once a week since I bought it. so far I have used it for making bone broth and stews. As time goes on I will try other things.

A great help in the kitchen. Hyperfast and silent, shiny and clean. Maybe It's too heavy, some people (older or weak ones) may find difficult to wash it or store it.
