My cheaper kryptonite lock got cut, so I decided to go with the heavy duty.Overall, the quality and build is good. It's definitely heavy duty (scaled: 70.3 oz, 4.4 lbs) and looks good.Issues:1) At first, I thought they sent the wrong one. The dimensions of this lock is listed as 10.25" x 4" inches in the production description. That's the INTERIOR dimensions, not overall. I figured this out when it came. I measured it at 13" x 7" overall, so it's longer. There wasn't a distinction note in the description as I took another look (the blurb on top says it, but I looked at the full description).LS/MC means Long/MotorCycle? I don't believe there's any mention of what they stand for.This is something I overlooked because it was half the price of other New York locks. But it makes sense that this would be for scooters and motorcycles.2) Frame fitment: since it's longer, you'll have trouble fitting it within your frame with Kryptonite's frame attachment (this doesn't come with one). Make note that the frame attachment sold separately should work only with round tubes unless they changed the design.3) Mine didn't come with keys. The packaging was a little torn maybe they fell out. I would have gotten a replacement, but the size is too big for a bicycle.Keep in mind the dimensions when buying this. Otherwise, it's a good quality lock, but a bit large for bicycles. If you don't want the hassle with getting a regular sized u-lock to fit around your frame and wheel, then this would definitely make life easier for you.Hope this helps.

This lock is serious business. I purchased Kryptonite for its anti-theft claims and intense anti-theft protection offer. I can definitely feel secure locking my bike up with this beast. The keys are interesting and unique, which furthers the image of security to me. Hoping this lock can really do its job.The only reason I cannot rate this item higher is because it arrived with a defect. There is a gouge in the top of the lock, big enough and deep enough to insert a dime into. Ultimately I don't think this will affect performance, but I am disappointed to have spent almost $100 on a lock that isn't pristine. I feel that Amazon did not pack this one with much care,as the box had minimal padding in it and was much too big for the item (it had two of those bubble strips laying in the giant box with it and nothing else). I don't think the gouge is from shipping as the box was not damaged or crushed when it arrived. I suspect it is a manufacturing issue, unless Kryptonite sells refurbished locks as new.Maybe not a "buyer beware" situation, but definitely check your lock over and make sure it seems fine before using it. If this was a more serious gouge I'd probably go through the trouble of sending it back to Kryptonite. As I see it, Kryptonite is going to be buying me a new bike with its anti-theft offer if it does turn out to be an issue.

Got two new Kryptonite New-U New York LS Heavy Duty Bicycle Locks from Longhorn Moto via Amazon. Nice, quick service / turnaround and delivery. Very happy with their service! The locks arrived in a good, sturdy box with good protective packaging and are so beefy that they should provide excellent protection from bike thieves; so long as they don't bring along electric power tools that basically can cut through ANYTHING. :-/I would recommend Longhorn Moto to anyone wishing to buy bike locks from them, but also assume that due to the excellent customer service provided to me, that you'd get the same quality from them no matter what you buy. 5 stars.

Being in NYC, I only use the bike a lot and this help with my peace of mind when i park my bike in a shady area or by the project. It will definitely take more than 5 minutes to cut through this thick steel using an electric grinder. My advise is to NEVER leave the bike for longer than 30 minutes and definitely don't lock your bike outside overnight. Being a New Yorker, this is a big NO NO. Unless you want your bike to get stolen, no matter what kind of lock you own, do not leave your bike outside overnight or for more 30 minutes at a time. There no lock the NY thieves can't cut through given enough time to work on them.

I bought this lock to add an extra layer of security when my carbon frame bicycle is mounted to my car, or locked outside a cabin while traveling. Just took it out of the box and it seems very tough and sturdy. I like the surface coating, which is sort of rubbery and hopefully will prevent damage/scratches on my carbon frame. With the included keys it opens and closes very smoothly.As noted by others this is heavy as anything - I would not recommend cycling very far with the lock mounted to the bike. It's better suited for short city rides, or for car/travel storage.

The lock is extremely heavy so be prepared to carry the weight and have a way to transport the lock. Once you get past the weight, basically no one will touch your bike unless you attach the lock to something you can cut down/break. This lock has been tested in freezing and subzero temperatures. In all weather conditions you may find the key gets stuck from time to time when attempting to unlock. If the key is not pushed in correctly by less than a mm it may jam. Luckily it unjams fairly easily just more of a hassle in cold weather.

Pros- I don't think anyone could cut this off your bike. That's the point right? I like if you lose your key - you can order a new one. It's easy to lock/unlock with the key. The length is perfect for my larger wheel size.Cons - This lock is SO heavy. It slows me down on longer bike rides when I take it with me. Also the width makes it a bit challenging to fit around some of the city bike racks.Overall: Recommend - I like that you can register your bike with the company's website.

This lock is VERY heavy. Now that I have the item I can see why some customers were upset about not having a mount. The lock feels very strong and so far I have had no issues with theft. However for the sake of carrying the lock around i will need to invest extra in getting a mount for it. So far I have been able to hang it off my handle bars on my beach cruiser but it does bounce around a little so I don’t think it will be good for the paint on my bike in the long run.

I got this lock after it received praise from the Lock Picking Lawyer on YouTube, and it really is worth the money. It is easy to use, very sturdy, and it keeps my bike safe both on campus and on my front porch at night. Previously, my housemate has had their bike stolen because a thief cut their combination security cable, but I haven't even had someone attempt to get through this bad boy. I appreciate the piece of mind this lock gives me while I'm out riding.

I was able to lock two bikes together & a stationary pole. That was my intention when purchasing this model. You can feel how meaty of a lock this is. Only wish I would have purchased sooner. A few months back I had my triathlon bike stolen. No way would they have been able to do so with this awesome lock. Moving forward it will always be Kryptonite!

I’m glad to have found this, BUT, what I wasn’t thinking about was the weight of this item. At just under 5lbs, this is quite the lock. Definitely not for my everyday use, but when I am planning on leaving my bike somewhere while I shop downtown, this will come in handy. It is rated a 9 out of 10 on the protection rating by Kryptonite. High quality.

Extremely sturdy and a worthy investment for protecting your property!The key sometimes has a hard time working into the tumbler for me.Something I never considered is that you need to use the key to lock it. Just a minor inconvenience, because you can't store the lock in it's separated form and just slap it on without a key. Eh.

I had old Kryptonite lock for about 15 years.It works fine for the time and finally broken when lock is open.So I got this for replacement.I've used about 2 month now.It is much easier to use.Size really matters for lock.If it fit for your need, I think it is good lock.

It's super heavy duty. Yes, someone can still break it and still my bicycle. It's not invincible, but it will keep my bike much more protected.I like it's large size. It is easy to lock up two bikes on one pole. It is much heavier in weight than my other cheaper U-locks.

I needed a lock with a little more reach and chose the Kryptonite over Abus and OnGuard based mainly on reviews and youtube videos. The key is a little finicky, I sometimes have to re-insert and wiggle it to get the lock to open, but overall it's a solid, quality lock.
