I have one of these for each of our dogs (34 lbs, 41 lbs, 9 lbs). The Xtreme medium, a regular medium, and a regular small. They're portable, can be stuffed with as little as a Goldfish cracker or it can be crammed full with jerky into the ends, as two examples. My 34-lber is a super chewer and he's figured out that dropping the bone numerous times will dislodge the goods so I stuff his full as possible to make it more difficult. If you need to slow your dog down you can fill the ends with peanut butter, yogurt, or some other such item then freeze it.The 41-lber gives up easily. She prefers the low hanging fruit in life and she prefers to lick over chewing, which means hers gets nice and sludgy.I use a popsicle stick to push whatever's stuck out, or to push it to the end so she can start over. The 9-lber is a Dachshund and she'll wiggle that pointy little nose into the ends to work out whatever it is she's after. The little one and the 41-lber usually prefer the other dog's toy. What're you gonna do? Dogs . . ..It's easy to clean, especially if you have a bottle brush. The "classic" red toys hold up well to gentle to medium chewers. The Xterme has so far survived the abuse - it's been run over by the lawnmower more than a few times (again, dogs . . . ) and is holding strong. especially for being brutalized by the Florida sun, so I'd say it's tough enough for most dogs. It's definitely lasted longer than the "classic," which the 34-lber chewed the inside out of. We've had the Xtreme for about 6 years now.

Kong toys are odd. They seem like an unappealing rubber that no human would want to chomp on but this toy was a hit with my 4 month old golden retriever puppy as long as there are treats to work out of it. I usually stuff the ends with strips of chicken jerky and he goes cuckoo over it for a good 10 minutes. I have found that the ends grip very tightly so if the jerky is too big he cannot get it out and just chews off the ends. When that happens, it is really hard to get the stuck pieces out - I usually shove them out with a knife or end up using the knife to break up the pieces. I suppose when he is older he will have stronger jaws and will be able to squeeze the ends enough to make them fall out.No way of knowing that yet . . .I tried Peanut butter (recommended online) and he loved that but I had smears of sticky stuff all over the place so that is not an experiment we will be repeating indoors. He was not able to lick out all the peanut butter from the grooved ends and I finally ran it through the dishwasher since it was looking pretty gross. When there aren't any treats in it, he totally ignores this toy. But, as an entertaining toy for the times when the puppy really wants something to do (24 hours a day in our case!) filling this this toy gives him some quick work and often gets him happily tired by the time he is done with it.

My dog can chew through anything and make a mess all over the floor. She hasn't been able to even get one piece of this bitten off. Very durable. Great for hiding treats in. Keeps her occupied so doesn't terrorize the house. We actually bought two of these because she took the first one outside and lost. I found it in the grass, well the lawn mower found it in the grass. Here's what I don't understand. My dog is persistant at chewing things. I have had dogs all my life and this one is the best at destroying things with her teeth. The new bone and the old one withstood all of her efforts. In fact, I hit it several times with a large riding mower and all it did was throw the thing across the yard.I don't understand how people can give this product a bad review. You can't destroy them. This is the large bone for large dogs. Now if you want to be cheap and buy the small one for a large dog there might be problem. The smaller ones are softer for little dogs to handle easily. I don't know for sure, but if you give something like that to a big dog you are looking for trouble. I love my pets, so we have to have some common sense for their safety and not blame everything on others.

I will preface this review by saying that my dog is an extreme chewer. He has chewed through every single toy we have bought him, including the fire hoses, anything with the words bionic and even really hard/sharp plastic that hurt his gums. He has had this toy for almost a year now and it is barely starting to show any wear and tear. He will sit and gnaw at either end of this toy for hours, and with that he has only managed to tear off a tiny little piece of plastic right where the hole for the goodies are. Tiny. We play fetch and tug and wrestle with this toy because we can get a firm grip on one end while he holds the other. And it has held up to us yanking and pulling against him.And my dog is not small. He is 85 pounds of pure muscle and goes to town pulling at and biting this thing and it is still going strong. We don’t use the goodie things because he can’t quite get in there to get out his treats and then we’re left with icky toy, but this thing is amazing. I will 100% buy another one if this one ever dies or gets lost. Kong knows what they are doing, and I will never go back to anything else.

These are one of my shepards favorite toys. He is a pretty tough chewer and he will destroy a tennis ball or baseball in no time if he sits with it to chew (instead of just chasing/fetching). He normally tears apart the large rawhide bones well within a couple hours. However these KONG Bones hold up excellent to his constant chewing. We even leave one outside for throwing and outdoor play, and while it looks all beat up and faded after being in the sun for several months, it still appears to be holding up its condition. The indoor bone still looks fine after several months.Cant understand the negative comments on the reviews here about the odor. Yes, it does smell like rubber, but DUH,it is a giant hunk of dense rubber! But by no stretch of the imagination is the odor strong enough to be detectable unless you are holding it. My dog sits at my feet chewing it while I sit and I cannot smell it at all.Summary: Highly recommended if your dog is a constant chewer. Much more reasonably priced here on Amazon than in any retail stores that carry this size.

I got this because our puppy has a habit of trying to wolf down his chews as fast as possible, creating a choking hazard. It's also hard to take the last bit from him to prevent him from choking on the end of the chew. This bone has been fantastic. We stick his favourite treat (dried beef tail) into the end and it holds it securely in place. Not only does he have better grip on the chew, but it makes it last WAY longer (one tail lasts 2-3 DAYS in 1-2 hour sessions with it) and also holds onto the last 2 inches of the chew so he can't choke on it. Hard for us to get it out but with the end of a wooden spoon and some force it comes out. Been using it for several months now and it gives great peace of mind.No sign of wear or damage (our dog doesn't chew the bone itself, only the treat stuck in it)

This was a gift for our English bulldog, who is elderly and needs rubber chew toys rather than hard Nylabone-style bones. We have the classic Kong, but it's a bit of a safety hazard for us humans as it rolls around and is easy to step on/fall over. This bone is a nice option as it lies on the floor safely and is so big and red that it is hard to miss. You can put peanut butter or other treats in each "ball" of the bone for extra play fun.I am confident this will last a long time and probably outlive our dog, so well worth the cost. I do wish they had a "senior chew" option of this.Bonus entertainment for adults in the room is that this toy looks a bit "racy" depending on what part of it is sticking out of the dog's mouth,so many jokes can be made.

I have a giant dog (Anatolian Shepherd), he chews up (and destroys) the middle of the bone within a few days, so what I am left with is the two ends. This is not so bad as the ends are hollow for kong stuffing. My dog has a very strong jaw, so it is somewhat expected that he will tear apart most everything he chews. The fact that the ends are intact are fine as I still load them up with stuffing and he is content to chew the ends and he doesn't chew apart the ends nearly as easily as the middle rubber. I have bought several of these. and have had these ends for a while. I would give this 5 stars but for the ease of chewing up the middle. Again, not a big issue for me as the ends are much more durable and last much longer than the middle.

This toy is the perfect size for our 85 lb dog. There are holes at both ends of the rubber bone with flanges inside that grip treats. You can purchase the Kong treats that fit inside, but we have been using pieces of dog food and some treats for smaller dogs and haven't had any issue with them falling out. He rips most toys to shreds so we had gotten him Nyla bones but they ended up giving him bloody gums. We stopped buying him toys entirely and just let him chew on sticks for the last couple of years. We decided to get him this bone on a whim for Christmas. I am so glad to find that he will lay on his bed, licking and gnawing at this chewy bone for nearly an hour before he is able to get at the treat and it doesn't make his teeth bleed!

My Golden is a STRONG chewer. She can’t have anything fuzzy or furry - she will eat the squeaker out of a fire proof box. It’s exhausting finding toys for her because she literally eats everything. Well, our “swimming billy goat” dropped this in the pool and it must have stayed there several days. When I retrieved it, it was almost gummy like so I threw it away not wanting her to ingest it. This bone replaced the one destroyed by chlorine. I had to replace it because it’s the only thing she hasn’t chewed up. She likes it with or without the kong peanut butter. She just likes it! As a bonus, if it doesn’t get picked up at night and someone steps on it - there’s no LEGO pain.We bought the medium for her and it is plenty big.

After going through MANY toys, and watching our dogs eat one after the other, we went for these heavy duty ones hoping we could finally find something they couldn't chew through. FINALLY found it. We bought a red one and a black one, and they lasted well over a year before we noticed there was a part of the red one missing off one end. They find it, grab it, go to the other dog and tease, then play tug with it, and it took more than a year to find part of one of them missing. Of all of the toys we bought trying to find the right chew toy that wouldn't be wasted these came out almost the best - the traditional kong shape ones are the ones that we still have fully intact, 2 1/2 years later. But these come in a close second.

This is a well made product and, like all Kong products, is super durable and great for stuffing in treats to entice and excite your dog. Unfortunately...just not our dog. She's not a huge fan of this one for whatever reason. I'm not knocking the star because of that though – I can't let my dog's feelings influence this review...I'm sure plenty of dogs love this thing. It's a classic! It's only 4 stars because I find the "treat-stuffing" holes somewhat inadequate. You can't fit a whole lot in there, and it's pretty hard for our dog to get out what is in there. So my feeling is...it'll either be too hard for your dog,or if your dog is smart and a good chewer...it won't take long for them to get out all the goodies.

What can I say? My dog cant destroy this thing in 15 minutes. So it's a win.I have a Pitbull/Shih Tzu mix (dont ask) whose nickname is 'Captain Destructo'.He gets a sick high in finding weak points of every toy and focusing every part of his being to completely destroying them. insane.Kong toys are THE ONLY toys he cant kill. This red bone has lasted a YEAR so far where all others have failed in mere HOURS.It'll lay in a corner for a day or so, but he'll go back to it eventually with renewed interest and fling it around for attention. We dont even stuff it with anything anymore.Anyway, it's still here... in one piece. We highly recommend this (and any Kong brand 'silicone-y' toy)if you've got a power chewer.

My puppies absolutely love these things with peanut butter in the ends! And I absolutely love the quiet time I get when I give them to them. When my puppies get too amped up in their play or just their noise level (or my spouse is asleep as we work different shifts), and I need the two to be quiet for a bit these things do the trick. They will sit there for hours merrily trying to get every lick of peanut butter out. Would work great for thicker dog treats in the middle as well.My puppies are pretty aggressive with their chewing and I have one of these in red and black, and both have held up very well! Throw them through the dish washer, and they look good as new.

The big BUT here is I ordered the wrong size...MY BAD! My dog is a 14 lb Jack Russell rescue dog that pretty much destroyed the "small" version of this rubber bone (I fill the spaces with peanut butter and treats). But the medium was SO MUCH BIGGER & HEAVIER he couldn't even lift it... Cost me more to send back than I got back in refund...but sadly he couldn't even pick it up. I was surprised at how much bigger (and how much heavier!) the MEDIUM was..than the small. Not the fault of the maker...I just didn't realize the big difference between "small" & "Medium"...Wish I could advise size based on my experience but I just don't know... Manufacturer...PLEASE ADVISE!
