This is the smallest and most compact umbrella I have ever used.I can say that after testing it for a while and despite the initial feel that it is just too small and fragile, it is actually pretty tough and resilient. It has a unique folding spring arm design that allows it to unfold much larger than its stored size.It also comes with a good water repellant coating on it that allows you to shake or spin dry it fast and return it to its breathable case. I took off its cover and don't use that at all. I found it too tedious a process to remove it from its case, pull the cover off, un-velcro the cinching strap and then unfold it. I suppose you could alternatively not use the hard case and just use the slip-on cover.Or for easiest use just the non-removable wrap around velcro cinch. I suppose storing it without any pull over cover or case would be a good idea or not depending on where you keep it. It is an expensive umbrella and I'm not sure why there is such a price difference between colors. I was sent the black one which is also the least expensive one. I think it looks and works fine. The handle is telescoping and feels kind of small and fragile, but it has the larger bottom know attached to it and seems to be holding up fine.

This is German engineering and quality in a super mini umbrella. Knirps is a brand name that is synonymous with umbrellas in Germany They are the top brand there and also a top seller. I lived there for years and I had Knirps for just as long. This mini umbrella is perfect for stowing away in a purse, bag, backpack, car door, center console. Just about anywhere. This umbrella is so small that it will fit in very very small spaces. This is also a great emergency umbrella that does its job well. Do not expect an umbrella of this size to tackle hurricanes and strong storms. It is not designed for that. This is made for rain and easy storage. So keep that in mind of ANY umbrella. There are umbrella's made for high winds. It will however, not fit in your pocket. It will be big and bulky. This is a beautifully made and well crafted umbrella that has a great hard cover. It is very easy to operate, fold up and store away. It is enough for rain, will keep you dry, and it is small and discreet. You will have a hard time finding an umbrella of this size and quality. It is a great umbrella and I give it 5 stars. It is also a great value for the price point.

for $38, I really need to see something solid. The umbrella is uber small, really compact. The total length folded is about 6 inches. It came in a cylindrical case with zipper. It is so compact it could fit in my pocket. It's a great companion if you live in the area of the US where it rains a lot. The supporting structure looks fancy but isn't too strong. There's too many folding points, thus weak links and potential points of failure. It's all manual; push to open, press button to release lock and snap and pull to close. The fabric is very thin and rain proof. There's really no grip area for your hand. It's just a cap section if you can call it a "cap". So the grip is not comfortable.Don't use this in a windy rain because you won't be able to hold it and it will just slip and run with the wind. The only way I'd recommend this umbrella is if you really need a "compact" umbrella and you must carry it in your pocket kind of scenario. I can understand if ladies need something subcompact for their purses, then this is absolutely your solution.

The case shown in the picture just doesn't do this item any justice - it really is tiny. It is however, also heavier than you might thing, there is a lot of engineering crammed into the pouch - and rightly so, given it has survived wind tunnel testing! The material is fantastic and the umbrella clicks into place with reassuring firmness, as a premium product should.I simply deducted a star because to get to the umbrella you need to unzip the case, remove the sheath which holds the umbrella, and then extend it - this is tedious but bearable. However, when its time to put it back in to the case, you have to really fold it away neatly otherwise you won't manage to fit it back into the case!So if you have the patience for this sort of thing, definitely get this - but if you can't be bothered with fiddly things, you may want to give it a skip.I personally love it, and given the size its well worth the fiddling!

I can say that I haven't seen an umbrella sold quite like this before! It's extremely compact and small which makes it easy to bring along for those "just in case" type of circumstances the weather/life may bring. I always like to be prepared! Umbrellas come in a variety of shapes, colors, sizes and levels of quality. I'd say that this lightweight version isn't built to withstand really strong winds but for the average rainy day it'll work just fine to protect yourself (one person). I like that it has a bag with a Velcro open/close to keep it in when it gets all wet to prevent drips/leaks. It also has a zippered hard(ish) shelled case which is extremely nice and handy. All together it weighs practically nothing. Is easy to expand and contract to put away which is really nice because other models I've owned from different companies can be a bit complicated. Overall, something I'd recommend! :)

When I first saw this I thought, "You've got to be kidding!" It is small; the case is 6.5 inches. How in the world could it hold an umbrella? Yet it does, and the umbrella is sturdy and provides full coverage. The handle is a bit short, but it's comfortable enough to hold. I'm so tired of cheap umbrellas that fall apart after a few uses. This one is built strong to last. It could be put in a backpack or the glove department of a car, or even attached to your belt. For travel it certainly won't take up much space in a suitcase. It's light-weight, and the case is sturdy. Open it, and there's another thin covering for the umbrella. It is simple to open and close, and to put back into the case. There are directions, but you barely need them. This is a quality product, and I can't imagine there being a more compact umbrella. So for size and durability, you can't beat it.

I wish Knirps spent as much time on the design and manufacturing of their umbrellas as they do on the cases. This very compact travel umbrella is lightweight and fairly easy to open, even if it isn’t an automatic, which I prefer. Still, the canopy is small, as is the handle, so I’ll only use it as an emergency umbrella. The case Knirps packs it n, however, is suitable for carrying valuables — it’s sturdy and stiff, zips all around, and even has a locking mechanism for the zipper pull! Not only that, the umbrella comes packed in a fabric sleeve — one of the kind that only fits over the umbrella when it’s new because you can never roll the umbrella back up tightly enough to use it again. Really,Knirps? Two protective covers for one tiny umbrella? Especially the hard case, which adds significantly to the weight of a portable item. Make better umbrellas, not cases.

Excellent umbrella, as described by a friend upon scrutiny, "it's like super umbrella". The main selling point, that it wont blow inside-out in the wind, is absolutely backed up, it won't turn inside out. Looking for an umbrella with this selling point, I came across a lot of larger umbrellas, but this seems to be the best umbrella on the market for its purpose and size, it's literally handheld folded down in its case. And the coating on the skin of the umbrella genuinely does mean you'll notice less water retention when you come back indoors.I can't recommend it highly enough, great for avoiding wet and windy conditions, perfect for getting to and from work or equally going for a round of golf.I always bought cheap umbrellas before, but this is definitely well worth the price. I'm certainly going to be giving it as a gift this Christmas.

The first one of these I bought lasted five years, and it was still remarkably nice when I lost it. It's the only umbrella its size I've found that can survive downtown San Francisco and Manhattan wind tunnels created by the tall buildings. I didn't hesitate to buy another. The ability to just shake the rain off to completely dry does wear off with age, and I only realized that when I got this new one and was reminded how well my first one shook off rain when I first bought it. Even after years, it just needs to be left out of its case for half an hour after use to let it dry out. But the shake-it-off and put-it-back-in-its-case-immediately niceness sure is welcome when it's new.Hopefully after a few years I'll remember to spray it with scotch guard or something to restore that property.

This is a mighty compact little umbrella, which is perfect for someone like me, who is always losing them. When folded, I can tuck it in a bag and not fear that it will be left somewhere as have so many others. It's a useful umbrella for a regular rain, not anything with strong or gale force winds. There are umbrellas made for that (with double tops and double joined spines, and this is not one of them.I like the umbrella, but given the price I'd not have bought it. I was blessed to receive an offer for this umbrella through the Amazon Vine program with a tax consequence on about two thirds of the regular retail value. But I just like it, I don't love it,and I wouldn't buy an umbrella this costly.

Package size is like eyeglasses case. it has a belt strip that clicks open with half-turn.open it and u see the sleeved umbrella, velcro shutopen the sleeve and you see the umbrella , velcro packedopen the velcro, the umbrella cloth is freed, push up the base to open and "spread its wings" and clicks into placeclick the red button to release for the push down to close it.The whole build says quality and sturdiness. the stick, babushka egg style, is made of profiled metal, not tube antenna. The frame that holds the fabric .. never seen anything like it, its like 2 frames in one.Very stable. The canopy is good. certainly provides good coverage.Very satisfied with this pocket umbrella.

I was looking for a small high quality umbrella that I could carry I my briefcase when on business trips just in case it were to rain. I like to travel light, so I would really rather travel without an umbrella at all. However, sometime it's just unavoidable. After much research this is the umbrella I decided to try. It's been great for it's purpose. It's smaller than a water bottle when zipped up so fits right into my bag. I normally carry a Tom Bihn Pilot as my "briefcase" and it easily fits into any of the front pockets. It performs as advertised, and is not too small for those unexpected rain showers when running from place to place. If I ever lost this I would buy it again!

This is the perfect commuter umbrella. Seriously. I have to take a train to/from work and walk a lot so one of the things in my bag at all times is an umbrella. I LOVE that this comes in a case that's more then a flimsy pouch. Seriously the case sold me as soon as I opened the Amazon box this came in. The umbrella itself feels really sturdy. It's small, obviously, but it's large enough for a person. It's not automatic, but I'm OK with manually opening and closing an umbrella, it's one less thing to break. I don't know what 80mph winds feels like, but it withstood some pretty heavy rain and wind without feeling like it was going too invert or break.

This is a solid little travel umbrella and the compact and reinforced case is a huge bonus. I’ve tested this in heavy rain and it did fine. But keeping in mind that its a travel umbrella, I wouldn’t count on it for super high winds, the kind of weather that stresses even heavy duty umbrellas. But thats not the norm for the weather I encounter and this umbrella can’t be beat for a compact and easily carried (and stored) protection for pouring rain. It’d easily fit in a coat pocket, briefcase or backpack.Other nice features include a telescoping handle. You need to push agains the top portion to open the umbrella and that’s easily accomplished.

I really like this umbrella. It can feel a little flimsey (although of quality engineering) in the hand, but it is small fitting into a handbag with ease and the excellent case keeps your bag dry even with a really wet umbrella - However, after 9 months it was blown inside out and two of the stays on the edge snapped. Fabulous Amazon Customer service provided a full advance refund in line with Knirps 24 month breakage refund or replace policy. This was a refund only because Amazon had no stock. I ordered a replacement from another seller on Amazon which was slightly cheaper too boot. The umbrella dries quickly when left open.
