Yup, I was hesitant in purchasing this due to the price, but I ultimately opted for it when figuring out how many cheaper ones I were to purchase in order to get a 'life time' out of them.I'm writing this in mid February 2014, South Wales, UK, and the weather is utterly dreadful - heavy rain, strong winds and intermittent hale storms. I've taken this with me for the unlucky times I have had to be out and about, and it's done great as anticipated. The spokes seem to be very sturdy, allowing for pressure so as not to snap or bend. The umbrella consequently went inside-out due to heavy gusts, but didn't damage it in any which way.The fabric has a sort of Teflon effect, in that the water doesn't cling to the material, which was a nice surprise when I collapsed it and shook it to get the water off.The push-button mechanism to auto-erect/collapse appears to be well made also, although I have a niggling though about how long that will last, but that niggling is not from any evidence displayed by the umbrella itself, just my pessimism.Down to the aesthetics, the umbrella is definitely stylish. Tidy looking upper material, with neat stitching and rounded, brushed-metal, edged spokes. The black on the handle is a comfortable, rubber-coated plastic, (which matches the topper tab) and the lanyard is firmly fixed and seems hard-wearing. Even the sheath is admirable (with its zip feature), even though it probably won't get used by myself, as I don't find them practical.Every innard is very well constructed, which is why it costs as much as it does, I imagine. Here's hoping it continues to perform as well as it has so far, as it's currently faultless.

I bought this umbrella as a replacement for an old M&S telescopic umbrella, which had lasted 15 years. The Knirps is about twice the price of similar available products claiming to do the same job but I think it is actually good value for money. The diameter of the opened canopy is about 94cm,, that's nearly the same diameter of a standard umbrella (although obviously you don't get the same depth a standard umbrella offers). The thing snaps up and open at the press of the button in the handle and also snaps closed (but not down) at the press of the same button. The skeleton is very well constructed and designed to invert without damage should a strong gust of wind hit you.The material used for the canopy appears durable - time will tell.Generally the quality and build of the product feels good. The only niggle (and it is a small one) is the size of the handle; Whilst it is ergonomically excellent, it is a bit on the small side. Again, time will tell if that's an issue.

You can buy similar umbrellas for approx half the price, but this appears very well built with good quality in the detail [the components, e.g. the stretcher, the ribs, the stem are thick & sturdy, the stitching seem of a good quality].Many negative reviews seem to centre around umbrellas breaking from being flipped in gusts of wind. I always thought that this wasn't an umbrella's short-coming, that if it did flip, you'd expect parts to break/bend/snap? The 'vented' umbrellas resist flipping better by allowing the wind to escape, but I've only seem that design in larger golf-type umbrellas. A trick I've learnt is to use the umbrella partially collapsed in high wind, i.e.have it un-latched & holding the runner near the top of the umbrella, but not in the locked open position. Should a gust catch the umbrella, there is some 'give' before it flips.

I bought this umbrella because its predecessor was also a Knirps which dates back to the adverts "You can't knacker a Knirps". And I loved it, but after many years, the edges of the canopy frayed and then the stitching holding the canopy to the ribs broke and I could have stitched it back together, but it wouldn't be as good as new so I went for more of the same. My old model was no longer available so I went for one about the same diameter and the most popular with reviewers. This umbrella is shorter so it fits right into my bag instead of sticking out. That's a plus. There hasn't been a lot of rain since I bought it, but so far, it has performed brilliantly.I'm really pleased and just can't wait to be out when the rain buckets down.

have used this umbrella for one year, facing the strong winds of west midlands. When you handle it you wouldn't describe it as a sturdy artifact and it's quite lightweight. Though it appears to suffer while exposed to hostile weather conditions bending and even unfolding under the strongest gusts (and I really stress-tested it, also when all of the guys in the windy street used to give up and close their umbrellas), thanks to some mechanical miracle its skeleton doesn't undergo any detrimental consequence and I still could tell my umbrella is as new.Last but not least, it's cool!

I love these. I'm on my second one (long story, but this is not tree proof - walked into a tree that had partly fallen over during a heavy storm). Very good quality, and does what you would expect. The button release, works well and the umbrella is quite strong. However, it's not entirely storm proof. In strong winds it does sometimes still blow out. This is not all the time and you can direct it enough into the strong winds to prevent. I don't think any brolly could withstand some of the winds we've encountered this year.

Its small light and worked a treat. I have been using it a lot this year as you can imagine. ;0) Has done well and although it can get inverted by the wind it quickly rights itself with no damage. It excels in all respects bar one (which is a personal issue), The dam handle was made for a child! It is too small for a fully grown adult and does not feel good, you always feel like any small gust of wind will blow the thing out of your grasp! Other than that very good brolloy.

You can tell that this umbrella is really well-made and German quality. It opens and closes very smoothly and is much more secure in high winds than other in umbrellas of this type.Obviously this is not a replacement for a full-size umbrella but is great as a travel umbrella. It is a halfway house between a four size umbrella and the very smallest travel umbrellas.

Arrived on time, a very sturdy quality umbrella. My old Knirps umbrella is 50 years old. It doesn't fold as well, material good, but one spoke has broken in the last year. Not bad service from an umbrella, that has been in constant use? I don't expect to be around if this one lasts as long!!

This is an excellent umbrella. It is strong and durable, just what I was looking for, after being tired of buying umbrellas that didn't last more than a few weeks. You won't be disappointed with the Knirps Fibre Duomatic T2 umbrella. I am glad I purchased it.

Looks good, mechanism works well, I have not used it in anger yet but it should be interesting. I bought it for the rainy season in equatorial Africa to get from the office to the car, its too hot for a coat so lets hope it does the job. Will keep you posted.

Looking for a quality portable umbrella for some time. This German beauty fits the bill very nicely. Well engineered, quality components, easy to operate and is of a packed size that fits my carry on luggage. No more wet dashes to the Avis rental for me.

Pretty design and super resistant. I have tested with strong wind (Manchester weather!) and it didn't flap which was great. I got a different one wind resistant from another brand and it did flap and was heavier. Very happy with my purchase!

Some may find this umbrella a but expensive, in fact I have never spent more than a tenner on one so this was a major decision to make!! Delighted however and fits well into my messenger bag when not keeping the rain off me

This is a fantastic product very light but very well made. You can always rely on German products they may sometimes cost a bit more, but always worth it.Germans make things of high quality but made to last.
