These are a bit expensive compared to many other bolt cutters, but the quality and feel of this product is what you are paying for and they look very professional when you pull them out of your tool bag. My company paid for mine as I agreed to help cut down a wire fence on a weekend at work. They proved very effective on their first job cutting hard 2.5mm wire and the blade edge was left unmarked after a couple of hours work.Although it's suggested they could be used to cut bolts, screws etc.up to 5.2 mm, I have used them on nails and screws at 3mm and have experienced some tiny, but insignificant, marks on the blades. I wouldn't personally consistently cut anything metal thicker than around 3 or 4mm as I'd be concerned about degradation of the cutting edges.I try and look after my more expensive tools and I'm delighted to own these bolt cutters, that look great, are lovely to handle and are made to a very high quality. You could probably buy cheaper ones and they may do a similar job, but if you can afford them, then for prestige, workmanship and sheer enjoyment of using superior tools you can't go wrong with these KNIPEX 200mm length bolt cutters. I can highly recommend them for looks and more importantly continuous effective easy cutting performance. A great addition to your toolbox.

Another outstanding bit of kit by knipex. I chose to pay a little extra, and went for the sprung pair of these quality mini bolt/wire curlers. Great choice if your going to use these repetitively! Cuts strong piano wire easily, thin steel rod, copper wire, nails, staples thick gauge fishing hooks and most other things within reason. I haven’t came across anything up to now it wouldn’t cut. But bear in mind if your planning to buy them specifically for bolts you would be better going for something a bit bigger. They have a handy catch that locks them closed so they take up less space among your tools, and it also stops them from wearing the cutting edge too I suppose!I managed to get them for a decent price by trawling Amazon (£30 ish as opposed to over £55 some were charging). They weren’t on special offer and I’m not getting any form of payment or discount for writing this review. Yes I’d buy them again, they’re Knipex quality!

A fine pair of small bolt cutters. Quality is as you would expect from Knipex. These are the spring opening model, which I find far more easy to use, then the non-sprung cutters. They are made from a very high quality steel. Cutting items, such as nails, doesn't even leave a mark on the blades. If you have the strength, they will easy snip a copper penny in half. The only real limit on what you can cut is the strength of your grip. For things such as nails and wire fencing, these cut through with extreme ease.Overall, these are a great pair of strong, sharp cutters, that have easily coped with everything I've thrown at them.Recommended.I hope you found this review helpful.

I bought these Knipex 71 12 200 CoBolt compact bolt cutters because my trusty side cutters are not up to tackling heavier gauges such as the lengths of barbed wire that keep surfacing in my garden. Who are those people who think burying barbed wire is a fine idea?Sure enough, the Knipex tool bites quite easily through two-strands of 2.6mm (SWG12) wire, I have to use both hands but I'm 70 years old and never was a Mister Universe contender. For a steel bolt or padlock shackle of greater than 3mm diameter I really think I'd use an angle grinder rather than risk damage to the Knipex jaws, one has to be realistic about what a tool can do.

Handles: Comfortable and fit the hand well.Cutters: Strong and will cut pretty much anything. Some things do need a lot of force, but then again, these are a 200mm pair of cutters.Build quality: Overall very good, nice finish. The only possible problem that I can see is that there is around 1mm of play when the cutters are closed. In other words, if you close the cutters fully, and then let go of one side, around 1mm of movement is loose before they start to become stiff. I'm not sure if they are meant to be like this, but I thought I'd mention it anyway.Overall, a very handy pair of cutters, mainly due to their size.

I first used these while working in a garage, they cut through handbrake cables with ease. When tool vans came to show off their latest I always tried the best cutters they had against these, none could match the ease and cutting power of the Knipex. They have a 'compound' action which increases your hand force by a factor of 20. I have now purchased my own pair and use them for mostly fencing, (hence the opening spring), but small bolts, screws, chain pose no problem for them. Also available with shorter handles the 160, and longer the 220. They are expensive, but they are all the cutter you will ever need.

Undoubtedly powerful for their size but the smallest traditional style bolt cutters while quite a lot bigger are appreciably more effortless. The self opening spring only half opens the jaws. I would say these are worth having but only if you need cutters only for occasional use on heavier wire or that above all are pocket sized.

Excellent bit of kit, i mainly wanted these for cutting stainless steel welding wire and they do it will ease, really nice smooth action and does not jar your hands when it cuts through so you could use these repeatedly with out get any pain in you hand or wrist, if you think you might need some get some you won't regret it

We're fencing contractors. We've struggled with sub standard pliers/cutters for mild and HT wire for years now. These are amazing! Very smooth action, dispatches wire very quickly and easily. If the cut is kept square to the line of the wire then there are few sharp edges left.

It is impossible to buy tools like this locally. These are of very high quality but are not too expensive. Extremely well made. I bought them to cut mudguard stays on a bicycle, 3mm steel and they work perfectlyRapid delivery, great service

If you do containment and basket this is the most compact bolt cutters that I know of (better than the monsters that get loaned to you), these fit in my pocket, the company lend you ones that wont even fit in your tool rucksack.

Superb useful cutters comfy handle and cuts small bolts screws wire very nicely and without any effort. Recommended will last a lifetime I’m sure. Just trimmed my bicycle brake and gear cable - snip perfect cuts .

Incredibly efficient cutters in such a small package.Knipex tools are a bit on the pricey side. But use them once, and you'll understand.Money well spent on a tool that you should keep for a lifetime (at least).

The built quality is excellent. No need to wear-in or oil, as it works straight out of packaging. Cuts have been effortless. Must be the unique pivoting system. Loving it.

Excellent and just what was needed to cut through old chain link fencing debris found left in garden that had been buried in concrete making it too difficult to dig out.
