I compared several binoculars in a shop and these were far and away the best (in my price range). They're made in Japan, designed and sold by Belgians. They were at the top end of my budget but I don't regret spending the extra. They perform very well in low light and with strongly back-lit subjects - a sign of high quality glass. The build is also very solid. I find them easy to focus and they're fine to use with my spectacles either on or off. I'll use them mostly for birds and beasts, and for looking at the scenery while hiking (with occasional views of the moon and stars). The man in the shop recommended 8x42 for birdwatching and general purpose use, but I took the 10x42 anyway.
