Every year, without fail, I have ended up buying a replacement plastic baster in the run up to Christmas, to replace the previous one which has been rendered next to useless through infrequent use. Rather than continue this depressing trend, I decided to purchase a more robust, steel baster and it has already proven to be a worthwhile investment.Pros: It will last several years, due to its steel construction (and thus save money, longer term). The Silicon bulb is thick and draws liquid in well, it also fits tightly onto the main body.Cons: No measurements at the side (you would generally find these as on a plastic baster). However, I have never used this facility, so don't miss it. (Some of you may,so I highlight it here. I haven't deducted a star because I didn't buy it on the basis that it had this function.)The injection needle thread was particularly tricky to thread on my baster, likely due to a slight machining fault. It did screw in eventually, and now screws in tightly every time. The metal at the tip of the main body is a touch rough, but again likely a one off.I paid £7.99 for this and I believe that is a fair price for a solid product that will give me many years of service. In a former life, I was a professional chef and I would have been happy to have this in my kitchen.

The beauty of this baster is that it is stainless steel. Most basters can't handle the high temperature of oil for turkeys/geese and you pretty much get one or two uses out of them before they melt or fall to pieces. Plus, with the plastic you are never quite sure what toxic chemicals you might end up with from the plastic itself. It feels very strong, you are going to be using this for a long long time, probably the last baster you will ever need. The pastic/rubber end could easily be replaced should it break.I knocked off one star because the meat injector simply did not screw on to the base, the thread was messed up and I eventually had to force it on with a pair of pliers. Now it screws on fine, but it just shows how quality control isn't what it used to be. I didn't buy this for that in any case and most likely that end will get lost in a drawer somewhere.

This will last me for a long time, being well made and designed. Glad I paid the extra for this nice stainless steel and silicone baster. My old cheap plastic job perished within weeks, with the heat of the oil and fat which it was supposed to baste my meat with! This one, being stainless steel, is obviously not transparent, but that's less important than that it does its intended job for many years I I think it will, and would recommend you to buy one for your own kitchen. I've even been using it for basting the eggs frying in the breakfast pan to avoid that last little bit of runny white around the yoke, meanwhile basting and injecting many joints of meat in the oven to keep them lbeautifully succulent.

I wanted a baster to replace a previous one made of a rubber 'bulb' and plastic tube. The old one didn't work very well as the connection between the two parts was not airtight. This steel "professional" one is very impressive indeed - the bulb and tube are sealed together so do not lose suction at all, and the extra piece which enables you to inject melted butter under the skin of a chicken (for example!) is a good feature. The only fault I can find is that, being made of steel, it is impossible to see how much you have drawn into the tube (although this isn't a major issue, as you draw in "a squeeze-worth"!). A very good product, also dishwasher-safe. Recommended, good value for money too.

After our old plastic turkey baster finally gave up the ghost we decided to purchase this item. Without being a world expert on basters I chose this item because it was reasonably priced and looked well made, certainly better than the plastic ones. This baster has not disappointed it is excellent and the injector is a bonus, it works a treat injecting more flavour into joints. The bulb does not lose air when you use it either. All round an excellent product and we would highly recommend it.

The price is reasonable and delivery is free. The bulb is strong and appears durable. The tube is long, making it safe to reach deep into the oven. It is metal and should survive the heat and any little kitchen accident. The baster was first used to inject butter oil into the meat. After removing the pointed nozzle, pan juices were drawn up for basting. The finished roast was moist and delicious. The baster was easy to take apart and wash. All in all, a very useful item.

This is by far the best baster I've ever owned and I'm finding it quite indispensable, it picks up a good quantity of liquid for basting meat and I use it all the time when cooking with my halogen cooker. It is unbreakable which is a boon. I don't know how many glass or plastic basters I have managed to break or found useless. I can put it in the dishwasher to clean without worrying about harming it. Worth every penny!

I haven't used it as yet, but leaving a review as the picture and description are wrong currently on website. The bulb at the end is black not white, it's packaged all pre-assembled and is 34 cm long not 25 as stated.Other than this, it looks great quality and I'm sure it'll give great results. Love the fact it is stainless and has 5 year guarantee.

i bought this baster as a gift for my mother-in-law after she had bought a plastic one that cracked and then broke the first time she used it. She's used it a few times and is very impressed with it and best of all, its stainless steel so it won't break/crack when basting hot liquids like roasting meat juices which is what she would mainly use it for.

Had a plastic baster that melted, a glass baster that shattered on my tiled floor, so this baster is superb for my needs. Only point to note - don't squeeze the bulb totally before filling, or it will over-fill (and you can't see the level in the tube), but used sensibly it does the job and can be put in the dishwasher. What more can you ask?

Well made of quality materials. The hot oil can never reach the inside of the silicone ball so safe in use. It all goes in the dish washer and comes out clean. Much better than some plastics that can't really take the heat. The silicone ball is a must as anything else tends to developed an odour and deteriorates through time.

I had been looking around for a professional, stainless steel baster for a long time and was delighted when I saw this one advertised on Amazon. The stainless steel basters are more hard-wearing and won't crack under intense heat like the plastic ones. I tried this one for the first time 2 weeks ago and it worked brilliantly.

but this did exactly what it was designed to do and helped with the awkward joint-and-potato-basting exercise. This one comes with an extra needle-like extension which we didn't use but I think would be invaluable when roasting a turkey or chicken which can easily dry out. Nice product.

The baster is well made and seems rather robust. We used it primarily with the injector to baste, as well as inject meat juices into the roast. It was easy to use and reasonably easy to clean. The result: more succulent, juicy roast which was simply divine!

I have been meaning to get a baster for some time as with a Halogen cooker it makes it possible to bast food without having to lift out the cooking dish, thus you are less likely to burn yourself on the hot bowl of the cooker making life very much easier.
