So many of these little aluminium coffee makers are supplied with a lousy rubber seal which either doesn't seal or falls out when you invert the top-half of the machine to screw it on - or both. The problem with this is that you lose half (or most) of the water and not enough pressure and subsequent heat builds to force the flavour out of the coffee grounds. The seal in this machine is a good quality rubber and a good fit so does the job well. Lots of pressure builds up when on a high heat and this results in a good thick coffee. The maker produces the equivalent of a good double espresso when filled to the little copper safety screw in the water chamber and the coffee at this volume is a bit thinner.Just the right strengh coffee and just the right amount for an espresso or to dump into a half-mug of hot full-fat mild.A good tip for perfectionists and those in a hurry is to boil the water before putting it into the water chamber. Obviously you have to hold the chamber with a towel in order to screw the top half on but the result is coffee within about 30 seconds of placing the pot on the stove and also a better flavour because the dry coffee isn't super-heated by the stove before the water boils and passes through.Perfect!

Really very pleased with this item.I am a newbie to Moka pots so didn't want an expensive one if I wasn't going to get on with it.I'm sure that it isn't as well made as many - but it makes a beautiful cup of espresso - my gingerbread lattes are divine!!I use mine on gas - so put it on the lowest setting - it takes about 5 mins. I haven't had an overspill (as seen on youtube!) and keep the top open as per other advice. I also haven't had any leaks at all as I always check that the bottom is on tight.Only clean it with water - no soap - it leaves a coffee "film" inside it. Simply wipe this out with a paper towel.ProsCheaper than a TassimoNo waste (use grounds in your garden)Coffee is hotter thanin a TassimoWas worried about the handle on my stove - no issueAttractiveBuild as expected for a cheap moka pot!Extra seal includedMore economical than podsReally easy to cleanBuy a milk frother for a real coffee shop latte!!! First of all, the maxim "you get what you pay for" definitely springs to mind. Many reviewers are saying that this caffettiera is "cheap and nasty" to look at. They are right. It looks a tad tacky too when you get up close and personal with it.However, looks aside, this coffee maker makes an excellent espresso. It works just as well as the Bialetti caffetteria, and the only reason why I bought this was because I accidentally destroyed my Bialetti one day when I forgot to put water in it. Mine works fine on a standard gas stove, so I'm not sure why others with a gas stove are having issues. It also seems to percolate twice as fast as my late Bialetti, without compromising taste - not sure what's going on,but I'm not complaining.I rate this item 4/5 - it loses one star for its tacky looks. But it makes a great espresso so I'm definitely happy; and since most of my friends have never even used one of these things before, they all think it's an attractive item!

I purchased this Coffee Maker a little while ago as my original which I purchased whilst on holiday in Palermo, Sicily more than 20 years ago was destroyed. My now EX partner was too lazy to wash it by hand and one day I saw her place it in the dishwasher. I asked, how many times have you cleaned it in this way, she said 2 or 3 times!DO NOT put these Coffee Makers in dishwashers because you will destroy it. The Black handle will crack and or split. The knob on the lid will come loose then full off. The nice shiny covering which is the first to go will become dull and strange marks will appear. The rubber seal will harden and not seal both parts together properly and will be dangerous. If washed by hand after every use, dried properly, especially the rubber seal, these Coffee Makers will last you many years.

Great little espresso maker at a sensible price. If you don't grind your own beans then be aware that most of the ground coffee offerings at 'strength 5' from the supermarkets will be too coarse - these coffee makers need a slightly finer grind (powdery rather than gritty). This is just my preference so experiment. Makes just over 1 eggcup full of espresso and I add half a mug of hot water to make a good americano. I've found that most of these units suffer from spillage when pouring and this one is no exception; can be alleviated by lifting the lid first when pouring. When new, the silicone seal/gasket needs a fair amount of pressure to seal properly. These coffee makers are always too expensive,so this example id a pleasant surprise.

I read so many reviews before buying it and was afraid that it would break soon or discolour etc. I received this little guy on 9th of February and was waiting to write a review. I've been using it every day since 9th and it works perfectly.Tips:- Do not fill it up to the top, follow the instructions, otherwise - a. the coffee will get wet; b. it will leak a bit while boiling.- Use good quality coffee and right grind - if you put cheap, bad coffee, you will get a bad one.- when washing - do not use the scourer side of the sponge - a. there's no need and b. it will lose the shine, obviously.See the photos below - I took them just now - you can see my reflection, it's still so shiny.

What a great little product, its not as cheap and nasty as other reviews make out. I actually have a nspresso machine but wanted to try some different coffee so purchased this cheap alternative, i have an aga so this is perfect for just throwing ontop of the hot plate at any time,The coffee is perfectly acceptable for the price and design with minimal fuss but still a good level of ceremony as all coffee should have. The build is shiny and well treated with the only let down being the inside of the base, its not highly finished and seems to be pitting and staining after continued use. But overall its held up well and no signs off anything going wrong.

The thing you have to remember is that this is an EXPRESSO coffee maker so, when it says "Three Cup" that means three expresso cups - were not talking mugs here, wher talking thimbles!. This three expresso cup coffee maker does that, makes three small expresso cups or enough for a small mug for one. It makes a superb cup of coffee. My wife doesn't like strong coffee I do. I whap some milk in the microwave and she has one expresso shot and I fill the cup with the hot milk, that's a latte for madame - I have the double shot of expresso. Sorted. This is cheaper that other makes and does the job - makes superb coffee.

I bought this to replace an electric espresso maker I used at home. I have mastered how much to tamp the coffee down depending on how finely it is ground. The coffee temperature is an improvement on my electric machine. Taste is not impaired as long as you do not use too strong a flame as this will cause the coffee to boil in the uppermost compartment. For home use, this is very useful and fills the house with a beautiful smell of coffee. It is easy to clean and sturdier than I expected. I have not used any similar machine to this one. Five stars reflects the price and overall ease of use once mastered.

Having never bought one of these before and only read the reviews on amazon, I am very happy with the product. I just fits on my smaller gas ring which is great as some of the reviews stated people were having to get a ring minimiser for it to fit.I used the same coffee as I use in my cafetiere and the taste is quite different more rich and ofcourse hotter as it is made on the stove and not left to infuse and cool down in a cafetiereSo simple to use, quite idiot proof, my on criticism is the quality, quite light and cheap feeling but it does the job brilliant, yum yum

This makes a a really nice small mug of coffee or 3 expressos but I do use freshly ground coffee. It is quick too. Some small amount of ground coffee does end up in the finished coffee but if you don't mind not drinking the last drop, it's fine. The main reason I did not give it 5* is that it is made out of aluminium. Apparently aluminium particles go in the liquid which has been heated or kept in any aluminium device (foil, saucepan) particularly if it is an acidic liquid and injesting aluminium has been linked to dementia. So not keen on my expressos anymore!

This was the cheapest coffee pot, of its size, I could find but it's been a great buy. I'm not a big espresso drinker but making a full pot of espresso with this pot and topping up each 'shot' with water from the kettle makes three large cups of very smooth, very satisfying coffee. It's economical too - cafetieres use far to much in my experience and make poor coffee.Forget expensive coffee machines that make over-priced thimble-fulls of 'cafelattechocoespressochino'. Buy this and enjoy the taste of coffee as it's meant to be.

This is just the right size for one person, and has the classic good looks of a proper stove-top espresso pot. The metal is thinner than my previous pot but, that was also 3 times the price. I seem to need these on an annual basis, as the handles break off. I think it's something to do with putting them in a dishwasher. As I have recently moved and no longer have a dishwasher (sob) it'll be interesting to see how long this one lasts. Anyhow, it does the job perfectly well. Lovely to have 'proper' coffee in the morning.

This is my first espresso maker, and I really didn't know what i was looking for. However, I decided to purchase this one as it was inexpensive compared to others and therefore, if it wasn't used alot, I didn't have alot to lose. However, it has made a perfectly good cup of coffee so I am happy with my purchase. I may at some stage buy a larger model as it didn't make much more than one espresso cup. I could really taste the difference though between this and my normal cafetiere coffee, so it won't go to waste!

I use my Coffee maker EVERY MORNING sometimes more! Minimum fuss to use: fill the bottom compartment with water, slot the metal coffee filter compartment over the top of water compartment and fill with ground coffee of your desired choice. Screw the final top compartment in place, stick it on the stove and in 5 mins, maybe less, I have fabulous coffee. Easy Peasy!! I have ordered one for my friend as a Christmas present. Fantastic Value would definately recommend.
