Bought this to replace a cook's blowtorch that I used to use for various DIY projects (rather than its main intended purpose of caramelising Crème Brulee!).My previous one (which was a little smaller than this) had a 'one-shot' locking trigger (where you had to unlock it after every actuation). It would fire up once you squeezed the trigger and would only stay lit for as long as you held it... whereas with this one, you dial in some gas flow, ignite it by pulling the trigger and then adjust the flame (using the gas flow and burner air vent controls) to what you require (and it will stay lit until you turn the gas flow completely off). That method of operating might not suit some users, but for some applications that I use it for (non-in situ copper pipe soldering, cable heat shrinking, etc.) that's quite useful as it can free up a hand.Regarding its performance, this torch has quite a high flow rate when opened up and can generate a really high temperature concentrated flame (up to a maximum of 1150°C apparently). Naturally, at its most extreme settings, it uses a lot of gas.. but it's easy enough to refill with just your regular can of butane lighter gas - which you will need as it arrives empty. Also worth noting that when used for prolonged periods, the metal clad nozzle can get very hot (not something my old one had a problem with) to the point where it's definitely a potential skin burn hazard.. but nothing to really worry about if you take all the normal sensible precautions. To hold, it feels quite chunky via its aluminium grip, but it's fairly light... and it comes with a detachable wide-footprint base (but can actually stand up on its own without it).Basically, it's a great performing, good value mini blowtorch... and it's certainly better than the one I had before. Also arrived really quick. Hard not to recommend it.

Mine works very well and I’ve had it for a few years now. The capacity is right for kitchen use, so Will burn for maybe ten minutes use before needing a refill, but in normal use that is a few weeks. It doesn’t leak out between uses as some suggest. I thinks that most of the negative reviews are down to misunderstandings o how to use it and how to refuel. It just takes lighter gas from an aerosol can and I get through one can a year.I use this a lot and it is very good for final caramelisation of meat before serving, just to give the perfect finish. Also used with liquid smoke can imitate food cooked on bbq.It doubles up to light the fire on the grate and is good for getting bonfires going.I’dbe lost without it

In common with a lot of people, I struggle to find any adaptor that fills the canister without more gas escaping than going in. That said, barring this one difficultly, this is a first rate product. When my blowtorch developed a fault after only being used once (gas leaking out the bottom of the canister until empty) I contacted the manufacturer as directed, fully expecting instructions on how to fix the fault, but an exceptionally pleasant and helpful Customer Care Adviser called Marcus sent me out a replacement blowtorch immediately. With customer service like that, why would you even hesitate?

This is a kitchen blowtorch and it is brilliant in that manner. It'll accept over the counter butane gas cans for lighters (DO NOT use an adaptor/head).The flame has plenty of reach and a nice diameter and the gas flow is mostly even giving you a good flame. This would get a full 5 stars but one thing should be noted this model DOES NOT have a safety lock like the description says (even the instruction say it does). It seems a little harsh to knock a star off for that, but it's a key feature that's not present.

I purchased this blow torch and it arrived promptly. If you swipe in the illustrations, the sixth one shows clearly what type of butane gas refill canisters to use with this particular blow torch. I bought a 300 ml refill butane canister for a quid from my local high street tobacconist. I found another make for 2 quid at the local cost saver super market. It is easy to use as long as you follow the safety instructions leaflet. I found it useful.

Bought this make and model after checking out others. Not disappointed. Works really well. Turn on the gas, click to ignite and away you go. The flame can be adjusted somewhat from a tighter pencil flame to one more diffuse. It's easy to refill. A great little gadget to have in the kitchen when you are making creme brûlées or just want to charr something. Recommended.

really good for working.. i have my own communication company and we deal with fibre optic cable and splicing.. we use this torch on heat shrink when we have spliced a cable to a (as known in the trade) bomb / joint .. Its prfect, it goes upside down and at all sorts of angles, with losing any flame.. Unlike other similar products ..

Excellent fully manual and adjustable torch.Would be excellent in a home or professional kitchen. While some systems are more ergonomic and easy to operate I find the building of this torch to have a great level of precision and sturdiness. The flame can range from around 1" to a maximum of ~8" and igniter doesnt wear out.

Bought this for my husband for Christmas but he spent most of Christmas trying to get it to work.Filled it with gas, but the black button was faulty.Contacted Amazon on 27th Dec to say we couldn't post it back as it was full of gas.Amazon sent replacement which arrived on 29th and works perfectly!

I bought it because i had a smaller torch which took a long time to 'brulee' the top of a large lemon tart. This new one works well. I would recommend it to anyone who is a keen cook and wants to caramalise the sugar on top of creme brulee and any other puddings with caramalised sugar on top.

There are some cheap and nasty torches out there, so don't waste your money on rubbish. These are well made and durable and will last a long time. Easy fill and a great friend in the kitchen and will also silver solder. You get what you pay for in devices like this.

It's a solid, good quality gas blow torch.Beware, the trigger does not control the gas and only lights the gas once the valve is opened. This means it continues to be lit once you let go.This is my mistake and I misunderstood the listing. Don't be like me.

Purchased this as a replacement, so I knew what to expect. It's a well constructed durable blow torch for use in the kitchen and around the home.Providing it's not dropped onto a hard surface from a height.Very good quick efficient service from the supplier

I use it for so many things - searing peppers, Pan cooked naans - cook on one side, blowtorch the other. Lighting BBQs. Charring / crisping duck skin. Great for crisping fish skin - I really could go on but I won't.
