In possession of one of these spatulas now for three months now (days: 90), for around half that time I had noticed the silicone retaining a lot of familiar scents from past cooked meals, no matter how thoroughly I washed it. I do recall reading that silicone utensils were to avoid this unintentional feature of traditional wooden variants, but in reality it seems not to be the case, which becomes more of an issue when it retains washing up liquid perfume.I have however not noticed this transferring to my food, which could be because my food is well seasoned and pungent with flavours, or perhaps the spatula isn't in contact with the food for long enough to cross-contaminate the flavours?Either way it was an issue I was determined to solve, and one I think is the single most prevalent under-reported issue for those who actually cook regularly with silicone utensils in their kitchens. Otherwise, this spatula, with its sleek shape and uniform colour finish, flexible where is needs to be and firm where support makes sense, leaves little to take issue with, particularly with its single-piece hygienic construction, which is why I was so determined.Having tried the usual go-to cleaning methods: slathering on a bicarbonate of soda and water paste overnight, or leaving it in a bath to "soak", or in a vinegar and water bath (which didn't make as much sense as I was sure that oils were the issue) I didn't find either made any difference, except to remove the obvious exterior oily film build-up that dish-soap alone would not remove. What did work was more research, of which I came across two options with a little more science involved: one hypothesis was that the odour molecules were gassing out from the silicone (of which there are only a finite amount of creating the odour you can smell), and so speeding up their release (evaporation) until depleting the supply can be coaxed by added heat or increased pressure:• Pressure Cooker : 6hrs at 14spi• Oven : 121℃ / 250℉ for 40minsI found in the first 10-20minutes that the internal metal support rod retained a lot of the heat, and the shape as the rod finished and the flex of the lip of the spatula was set free had tapered a little from its smooth design, but nothing that weakened the overall structure, just the aesthetics now revealed the inner rod a little more.It was advised to cook on a lower heat, but with the written upper limit at 260℃ I felt save enough, but should have likely been more patient and waited longer at a lower temperature (the example I read was of a seemly less robust ice-cube tray, so I felt more confident with a spatulas thicker membrane). After the two hour period I washed the oils that had been cooked to the surface away with dish-soap and cold water, whilst also cooling the screaming hot spatula down. Thirty minutes later I found the original persisting scent to have passed for something more like a distant cream of mushroom, which I had never cooked before. Moreover, around four hours later I found that the disfigurement had largely disappeared as the silicone reverted back to its original form !I don't have a pressure cooker, so the oven option was my only recourse, but it worked.EDIT: 24th May, 2019325 days since the initial purchase and I have prematurely destroyed the spatula! It was my fault, but as it was advice given I feel it best to amend that to avoid others damaging their tool. After only around ten minutes in the oven the pressure forced a hole to blow from the head of the spatula: it burst from the inside out!I put this down to the pre-heated temperature being ~240℃ / 464℉, which was likely too high, and I should have only put it in around 150 maybe? It would be useful if the maximum temperature was moulded unobtrusively into the silicone, handle side or somewhere sensible, but most don't advise this method of cleaning, although it works best to remove odours as the oils trap in this grade of silicone.n.b. Incidentally, out of interest, the inner structure (clearly a conductor for heat) is not a metal alloy, but a toughened plastic, almost like bone. It weighed 27g (0.95oz) on it’s own, with the silicone cover at 59g (2.08oz), totalling 85g.I can also confirm that the spatula only mildly discoloured at the tip of the head (both sides) by the fourth month of semi regular, but normal stainless steel frying pan use. Interestingly it remained a stubborn stain until four months after (month eight) and then disappeared, without any special attention?!

On my hunt for a spatula as good as the original (pre-70's) one that came with the Kenwood Major, I took a chance on this one. It's very good and probably more durable and less likely to expire/split/melt than any other one I've encountered. It does not conform and slide round the stainless steel bowl like the dearly beloved obsolete nylon (I think) one. Yet it does scrape the bowl completely clean. The fact that it's all one piece means it will last longer I think. So far I have resisted the urge to put it in the dishwasher top rack, though the makers suggest it will handle high temperatures OK. Good bright colours, too - your daughters won't be able to smuggle this one home.

Got one of these silicone kitchen thingies a few years ago as a present and never really thought much of it. When I eventually got round to trying, well, I now have a growing collection of them! Seem to cope with hot oil, cake mix, dishwashers with casual ease and clean out a stand mixer bowl to the point where I briefly consider if I could simply not bother washing it.Only thing to note it that they do struggle a bit with a heavy fruit cake mix, despite their reinforced core.

I bought one of these from Tesco eight years ago and after almost daily use it is still as good as new bar some slight staining. Thinking these were discontinued I bought some other brands on-line to test for the future and found them wanting in many ways, especially when they aren't silicone all the way up the handle. The plastic handles melt on the edge of hot pans. After ordering this KitchenCraft item I was delighted to find it is identical in every way to the original.

Everyone should have at least three of these in their kitchen. One silicone spatula is not enough. Trust me.I got 2 of these to complement my other silicone spatula and I'm happy overall. The only concern I have is that it is a bit thinner and softer than my original rubber spatula but I've been able to do everything I did before and the usefulness of having more than one spatula at a time can't be overstated!

The colour is gorgeous and it really works well. I bought this after stupidly slicing up my old silicon+metal one with a knife (if was an accident, I swear). This one is much prettier and easier to clean. The advantage of being made of one material is that there is no grotty seam between the spatula head and the handle. I will be keeping the knife well away from this baby!

Good spatula, flexible enough to be get all the food out of a frying pan, but not rigid enough to make damage to the non-stick surface.I use it mainly to make scrambled eggs from a small frying pan, and it's great for that purpose.Nice colour, looks well made, easy to clean, and heat resistant. In term of size, this is fine in 28cm, I wouldn't buy anything smaller...

Pros:- Heat proof- Non-scratch- Good sized handle and head- Grips well in the hand- Cleans easilyCons:- Pretty flexible material at the end of it makes it less sturdy in the tip. Combined with the longer handle, which reduces responsiveness,- The soap doesn't fully wash off after a trip in the dishwasher.

I just started making hand crafted soap, and all the guides I've read recommend using a silicon spatula, as it can tolerate high heat and does not react with the lye. The spatula itself feels durable, is dishwasher safe and at that price is really good value. Nothing more to say!

Why have I never bought these before - lovely and colourful - easy to spot in the drawer. Do a fantastic job of scraping out cake mix bowls - rather too good a job actually as there's nothing left to lick !! Great buy - wouldn't be without them now I've got them.

Bought to replace another one of the same after many years of service.Nice quality and quite sturdy. Will carry on using the other one as well, but like to have more than one (the other one look allright just a bit stained from use)

Some reviews talk about it not being flexible enough, that it smells, and that bits break off - well not in my experience. Very pleased with it, does what it's supposed and at a good price.

Good silicon spatulas. Lovely bright colour. Larger than expected but that is my fault for not reading the description properly! Have been used for a few weeks now and no complaints.
