Just what the scientist ordered at the last day, dispatched by the supplier well on time for delivery, relieved to see them arrive at this end, now I do not have to chase them up. Very good chip provides wife with more pictures than I as the cameras differ, typical ! and she is better at it than I, anyway she is very happy at 3500 plus, which was the idea so ready to "educate" people with myriads of photographs. Mind you I have the sophisticated camera I do not yet know how to use and she is happy with point and shoot style she does know how to use, both courtesy of a very good camera suppliers local, so there are compensations. The prices are awful so I switched from decades of SLR lens changes.Jiffy bag, but otherwise poorly packed for post and storage of spares until used, nevertheless Kingston does what it is designed to do without the wrapping and if you picked it up from a shop it would be adequate package. Never trust a Jiffy, the things tear apart like sheep stuffing in a sofa scratched by a cat. Anyway nobody stepped on this one, I just made sure by grabbing it out of the letter slot quickly and filing the components. Perfect package from Post Office, not a scratch. Does anybody know where we can buy spare storage clips for chip ? I looked in shops and bought a larger box for a battery spare for her but it is a little hopeless trying to find battery and chip clips. Part of modern society ? I have been doing this too long since Pa gave me his Box Brownie and I went on through Russian 35 mm to Praktica and then Canon until that started to seize up, so I know far too much and far too little, must say as a film enthusiast I am pretty pleased with later C21 digital and quality printers on photographic paper, but some of this credit must go to the chip manufacturers and suppliers, if you cannot store it you cannot print it. I have no video time demands, so would buy Extreme for that if I had, expensive but that is designed for another purpose. I think this will be more than adequate for science, light and snapshot as well as odd movie stream items which are rare. Mike

With the rise of Cloud based computing and file storage it's easy to have your files available wherever you are - but that depends on having a network connection and you aren't always guaranteed to have one. Personally I like having my files to hand and this 16GB card is large enough to carry a large amount of data.I've used Kingston branded cards for a few years now, they tend to be cheaper than their Sandisk equivalents, and although they may perform slightly slower, for my usage it doesn't matter. Those shooting High Definition video or high-res photos on a DSLR capable of impressive burst rates will perhaps want a card designed for quick write speeds, but if you want a high capacity card which can be kept in your wallet/bag/etc and hold a large amount of files then this is a perfect purchase. My 16GB card is used to hold my music collection, every album I've bought since I was 13 (back in 1993) is saved on here and the card is kept safely in a cupboard only to come out when I sync my iPod (of course the files are backed up onto DVD-R too). For photography I only ever use a 4GB cards maximum as I am then forced to back up my photos, and if anything did go wrong with the card then the potential losses would be less. Still, I'm planning on purchasing another of these 16GB cards, having the ability to have such a large amount of media files in my wallet is tempting. In a nutshell: Years ago I paid just under £40 for a 1GB SD card - it was a bargain at the time. Now when looking for memory cards my general rule of thumb is pay around £1 per GB of capacity so at the time of writing this, this 16 GB beastie is a bit of a bargain from a quality manufacturer.

I rarely write a review, if any, but after today's experience, I just had to write this review.. just felt that I owed it to this amazingly sturdy memory card.I purchased this at Amazon more than 4 years ago and have been using it as a back-up of important documents/photos in case my laptop dies on me. So far, I have no problem - it's doing an excellent job that it's supposed to do without a single glitch. So, back to today's incidence which prompted me to write this review. I washed my table cloth in a washing machine and I accidentally washed this memory card with it (did some work at a dining table last night and saved some work in this memory card, so it was sitting on my table).I only realized what I had done when I opened my washing machine door and saw this memory card completely soaked wet! Granted it was inside the plastic storage case, but water got into the case and when I opened the case and took out memory card, it was wet. I was devastated and feared for the worst (memory card ruined and all my saved work gone). But I decided not to give up too quickly and dried it with a paper towel and let it air dry for hours before popping into my laptop and voila!! To my surprise, it was working as if nothing had ever happened to it! Simply amazing!I am seriously impressed with its quality and sure to purchase more if a need arises.

I don't really understand why the various memory products on Amazon have so many different prices. I mean, of the 16Gb Class 4 SD card choices this was the cheapest at the time and I've heard of Kingston products and have no reason to think that paying more would provide a more reliable product... So I bought this one. It works, of course, no better or worse than any of the other comparable products I could have paid more for. So why even bother to try to sell them for more? I'm not going to look at all the choices and think 'Well, this one is cheaper, but I think I'll choose that other one as it's the same spec but costs more'... Anyway, well done to this supplier for undercutting the competition. The only thing with this product I was disappointed about was the fact that it has not enabled my stills camera to make longer movies in movie mode, although I can of course make more of them. I guess there is a maximum file size. However, this is not the fault of the card and probably not the camera, but just a limitation of the filing system, so I can't really complain about that. I guess the solution would be to buy a proper video camera. With this card installed in my 12MP camera, it now boasts an impressive capacity of 2547 full resolution still pictures... Erm, that SHOULD be enough.

Shooting professionally I recently made an inquisitive acquisition of an olympus e-pl2 hybrid camera. All my other cameras require CF cards and all are either Sandisk or Lexar cards. I trust them and have never been let down by them.On to this purchase. The Oly camera won't ever be used for anything other than as a walk around quick snap camera. Knowing that it took SD cards I decided to opt for the Kingston card largely for it's price and storage capacity. At under £12 delivered, this was more than just a good price. And sold by Amazon direct I took pleasure in knowing that if anything were to go wrong with the card, amazon are superb at stepping up to the plate and resolving issues quickly.Buy button pressed.Securely and well packaged the card arrived and appears reasonably quick at writing the 1's and 0's to the card. So far, so very good. If you're in the market for an SD card and don't object to stepping away from the two leviathans in the camera memory world, Sandisk and Lexar, then you may find this Kingston card right up your street.Recommended.

Overall, the 16gb Kingston Class 4 SDHC cards are solid, reliable cards. However, I was somewhat surprised to find that Kingston uses different plants to produce the same cards. I recently purchased 10 of these cards from J&R Computer World through Amazon. 8 out of the 10 cards were labeled as made in Japan, while the other 2 were made in Taiwan. The interesting thing is that the Taiwan cards are only 14.4GB, which is a considerably smaller capacity than the 14.9GB cards that were made in Japan(14.9GB is pretty standard capacity for a "16GB" SD card). Fortunately, Kingston agreed to send me 2 replacement cards. I just need to return the 2 Taiwan cards to them at my cost...If you don't care if these cards are 14.9GB or 14.4GB,then by all means, these are a pretty good value. However, when you come to think about how many pictures you can get out of that 0.5GB that is missing, it feels like Kingston is shorting the consumer.

I brought this 16gb memory card for my Nikon D3000 10.2mp camera. After reading all the reviews I was unsure about weather to buy this or not after seeing people saying they had a few problems with it. Personaly I have found it to work fine. I only shoot it the highest setting (raw) and it can hold just under 900 photos (884 to be exact. The only reason I gave it 4 out 5 stars is because of the speed of the card, if you shoot a burst of photos (4+) it can take a second or 2 before you can view them on the camera. But if you know your settings are right this won't be a problem anyway.I think the best tip for using this card I found on here is, as soon as you put it in your camera for the first time you should format the card, also whenever you want to delete photos from the card you should save them first (goes without saying) and then always format the card in the camera. That way the camera and card will work fine together.

I tested my new card before using it.Read performance:'for i in 1 2 3; do hdparm -tT /dev/sdc1; done'This tests both the speed of reading directly from the Linux buffer cache without disk access and, more importantly in this case, the speed of reading through the buffer cache to the disk without any prior caching of data. The test is performed three times in a row. The first part of the result is specific to my system so it's the second part that is useful: in that case read speeds were about 14 MB/s.Write Performance:'dd if=/dev/zero of=/media/disk/output.img bs=8k count=256k'The dd test writes a 2.1 GB file to the file system and prints out the average write speed, which was a little over 9 MB/s.9 MB/s writes and 14 MB/s reads are very good figures for a class 4 SD card - it is several times faster than any class 2 card I've used and gets quite close to performing as well as some class 6 cards.

I have this card and find it excellent for still photos and for HD video (even though the camera is supposed to have a class 6 card for video). However, it is clear from some of the comments that camera and other equipment manufacturers should make it clearer whether the product takes SDHC as well as the older SD. In the manual for my wife's camera this is stated but is not prominent. To my main point; whatever type of card their camera takes, do users realise that they should format the card in-camera? This ensures best performance and a lesser likelihood of problems with any make of card. Formatting in this way can be used to empty the card after all files/pictures have been downloaded to a computer.Even if you delete your files/pictures using the camera it is as well to re-format the card in-camera periodically as well as before using it for the first time. NB files cannot be retrieved after formatting.

DONT use a Class 10 card in your Nintendo 3DS or 3DS XL. Use this card! The Nintendo 3DS/3DS XL is fussy with high speed SDHC cards. If you buy a genuine, branded class 10 card and put it into your Nintendo 3DS, you will inevitably get the 'The SD card could not be accessed / The SD card was removed' message after putting the system to sleep for an hour or so, or more frustratingly when downloading games with the system in sleep mode. It does not matter what brand you use. Some cheaper class 10 cards work for some people, but I suspect that is because they are not really class 10...Nintendo do not acknowledge this problem but it is well known (google).I have found that if you use a lower speed SD card like this one (which is a class 4)the problem goes away. Make sure you buy a branded card though - Kingston is a good brand. I highly recommend this card for Nintendo 3DS/3DS XL users.

This card offers a shade over 30Gb of storage. Thats a LOT of memory for most normal use in consumer cameras, camcorders and digital recorders.Where this card shines is its write speed in two different tests exceeded the Class 4 specs by ~20% and ~14%: in real world terms, tht means I can seamlessly use it in my Samsung camcorder with 720p resolution and 30fps, with absolutely no problems. It might be marginal for 'burst' mode shooting (especially in RAW) in high end SLRs, but should be able to handle ~3-3.5 fps bursts just fine (camera dependent, works on my Panasonic FZ with high res, low compression jpegs). Video works fine on a Samsung camcorder, Panasonic FZ and Olympus E-P cameras. Finally at a buck a Gb price-point,this makes excellent value, but remember to regularly download and back up your data, rather than have just a single copy on the card.

The reason I bought this card is that we wanted to store our photos taken on our camera to a secure storage. Writing them on DVD-R is the most taken route, but we felt that if the DVD crashed, or does not read, all that is there with it is gone. When you buy a cheap but reliable storage as this one, you can save your data, enable the write lock and enjoy peace of mind. Your memories are worth more than the pounds that we pay, so I neva take chances. We are using this only for backup purposes.I saw reviews where people complain about speed. Definitely if you want speed, you should use a smaller storage size in your camera, because with anything more than 4GB size,it will definitely slow down the speed of the camera unless its a camcorder which is built to handle huge storage spaces.

This is an excellent piece of hardware with caveat. I purchased this product as substitute for USB flash drive for its huge storage capacity and miniature size. The caveat is this: the default setting is "write protected" that is you cannot write or delete data from it not even formatting is possible. The web is full of request for solution to be had. There are two notches, one on each side. One is empty the other has a small (yellow) switch. By means of a piece of Scotch tape cover the empty notch completely - but be careful not to touch the brass connectors.Next position the switch upward (towards the direction of the connectors)on the other side of the card and tape it in the same fashion. That's all there is to it.Now you can use it at will.

Be sure you know what SPEED rating you need before you order a memory card. This was for use in a digital camera and it works great. But on the video mode, the camera maker (Nikon) recommended a faster card than this for stutter free video. The higher the speed rating, the faster the device can write to/read from the memory card. For video, speed class 10 is recommended and this is a 4. But for still photography, this one is great and holds a ton of photos.Speed ratings are 2, 4, 6, 8, and 10. (Each number represents MB/sec, so the 10 is 10 MB/sec). There is also an ultra high speed card, but your device must be specifically designed to use that card.

I purchased this item on speculation that it could be used in our miniature Vivitar video camcorder. With the back up that if it did not work it could be used in our laptop for other purposes . However we were immediatelysurprised at the quality of the product and the fact that it does work in our camcorder thus enabling us to greatly enlarge our recording capability. The quality is first class and we will definitely purchase more of the same or go for an even larger memory card as our camcorder will actually accept up to 32GB so this is an excellent value for money when we have seen the same card in computer stores for three times the price .
