I got these for hiking in Breckenridge. These were perfect. I actually ordered this pair late and got them right before we left for our trip so I didn't even break them in. Still no problem. I'm not a big hiker but knew we were going to do a hard hike (don't ask why a non hiker would do a hard hike but we did). We literally hiked for what I think was close to 6 hours. We hiked up 2000 feet, it was steep and rocky and difficult for me and we had to go back down of course. These hiking boots were fantastic.Fit: Normally I take a 6 1/2 to size 7 depending on the shoe. I have a wide foot and something about the top of my (maybe it arches more than most peoples feet)but depending on the shoe they can be tight across that top arch. Since this wasn't a wide width I had to go with the 7. I ordered both sizes and while the 6 1/2 fit it felt really snug and I was torn on which size actually felt right. I went with the 7 and glad I did. I wore one pair of liner socks and another pair of regular hiking socks and that was just right with these.Highly recommend these shoes especially if you don't have a thin foot. Side note my husband tried the mens version. He has a thinner foot. He did not like them. I loved them.

I have another pair of keens similar to these but not waterproof. I wear an 8.5 and bought a 9 in both pairs. In the Keen sandals, I bought an 8.5 (no socks). I think they tell you to size up so you can use good hiking socks in them (thick) and because your feet swell during hiking. when I put them on with socks, they are very roomy still, but after wearing them a bit (foot swell) they fit perfectly. Especially with a heavy pack. My Keens have never failed me or given me blisters. I think my old pair was a Voyager, but I can't recall. They looked very similar to these, which is why I got these (needed waterproof). I have a medium-wide foot, and know that my hands and feet swell a bit while hiking.I really hate shoes that are too tight on my toes, and these won't be. If you have very narrow feet, I could see these being too wide, esp in the toebox. If you are prone to bunions or have wider feet, however, these will probably be great for you! I preferred these over the Keen Oakridge Mid WP boot, so returned those. I've only worn these around my neighborhood trail to test them out, but they are a typical keen. Feel sturdy and comfortable, not too hot.

This is my second pair of Keen Targhees. I was excited to get them in a new color! I typically wear a women's 9.5 but I am a size 10 in these. This also accounts for the fact that I tend to wear these with slightly thicker to very thick hiking socks.I only have great things to say about these shoes. The waterproofing kicks ass. Nothing like trudging through snow and streams and not having your feet get wet. The sturdy sole prevents sore feet when hiking through high alpine hard rocky trails. I have never considered myself to be someone with weak ankles, but after getting used to hiking uneven surfaces in these, I really appreciate the extra support relative to hiking in my crosstrainers.I have hiked up the Olympic Coast, along slippery rocks and beds of mussels, up dirt cliffs, through rocky trails, up snowy mountains, and to the field in these. They are my all purpose outside adventure/work shoe. The only downside of these is that the sole is not replaceable, thus why I replaced my old pair. However, I got a TON of use out of them.

My husband and I both needed some good hiking boots for a trip out to the PNW and an Alaskan cruise. During this trip, we hiked over 25 miles, in all terrain: redwood forests, streams, sand, rugged coastline, river rocks, mountain rocks, grass, etc. We never broke them in (my husband had the men's Targhee II) until we put them on our feet--no blisters, no rubs, nothing. They do fit roomy, which were perfect for my husband's wide, flat feet. They worked great for me, especially with thicker socks. They are pretty waterproof, even when I slipped in a creek and it went over my ankles, water did get in the boot, but it wasn't uncomfortable and they dried out super quick. We hiked on some very sharp rocks with barnacles and shells while on the Alaskan coast and we had great grip, was easy to go from rock to rock and the rubber soles never got cut. My husband couldn't stop remarking how impressed he was with these boots, and that's something coming from him! KEEN from now on!!

I just received these so I can't say too much about them. In the past I have ordered a size 6 but in Keen's and most hiking/sport shoes these days I've found that I need to order a half size larger. I have recently had an issue with Morton's Neuroma so I ordered a size 7. I've taken a couple of city walks with these shoes and found them to be very comfortable. They have a roomy toe box which is essential if you want relief from a neuroma. So far the neuroma hasn't bothered me but I'll need to wear them on a serious hike to know if these shoes really help me. Because I ordered a size 7 my foot slipped in easily. I was afraid that my heel would slip in them but they snugged up nicely and proved to be a very nice walking shoe. They are light and seem well-made. I haven't worn them in the rain so I don't know how waterproof they are.

These hiking boots seem to be the most popular on the trail. My very first pair of hiking boots were Ecco Biom Terrain boots because I had received a gift card so I didn't have much choice. Those were good boots but I realized a few hikes in that you really need to size up on hiking boots because your feet swell. Because of this, my Ecco boots are too small. My boyfriend owns a pair of Keen Targhee II's and he really likes them, so I thought I would give it a try. These boots are great! Really do deserve all the rave that is on here. I normally am a 8.5 but I went for 9 here and they fit well. They do seem wider than most hiking boots, so it accomodates more types of feet. The only thing bad that I have noticed is that there are times when the soles don't grip the earth very well, but for the most part, it does a great job.

First, I have always loved my KEEN hiking shoes that are regular/low on the ankle. They always fit well, feel comfortable, and make for a great hike, no matter how long or what the terrain. Second, I hate mids, or any shoes that are rigid around the ankle. I had a sports related ankle injury not long before a long multi-day hiking trip, so I really didn't have a choice but to get a mid. This boot was ok. These were mostly comfortable to wear all day and they protected my ankle. I had mild rubbing of the tongue against the front of my ankle, but after adjusting the lacing and breaking these in a bit that has improved. Even though my ankle has healed I will still use these for longer hikes,or hikes with rougher terrain. So all in all I'd say these were an excellent purchase.

I was introduced to the Keen brand last summer with a pair of sandals I purchased for a trip to the beach. They were comfortable, dried easily, and I found myself wearing them all over the little beach town. This summer, we have been experiencing a bit of cool, wet weather, so I decided to look at Keen hiking boots for now and later in the fall. I got them for my early morning dog walks- that's the extent of my hiking. These boots are the most comfortable I have ever owned, and I'm not young! I've since purchased three more pairs of Keen sports shoes and casual shoes- all of which are great. Now I'm trying to talk my 82 year old active mom into trying a pair.

I broke these in during a 2 week camping trip in Alaska. No blisters despite breaking in. Amazingly waterproof - feet kept dry even if I stepped in a stream. The only time they weren't waterproof was when I totally submerged my foot on accident crossing a stream. Even then I think that the outside remained waterproof, but water (obviously) went in the top.Comfortable (nice and wide), good ankle support, thick soles that keep feet comfortable even during day-long and rocky hikes. Laces are great because they lock into place before tying them. Would absolutely, absolutely recommend these!

These boots were a great investment. Since purchasing them, I've hiked through White Sands NM, the Guadalupe mountains, many places in California, the grand canyon, yellow stone, yosimite, a few parks in Utah & Colorado lots of places in Puerto Rico - all in these hiking boots. Hikes have ranged from 2 hours - all day. They hold up SO well. They are easy to clean, dry well, keep their support and cushion and work just as well as the day I bought them. They didn't require a break in period. Like most hiking shoes, I purchased 1/2 a size up & they fit perfect. Love these shoes.

Awesome, comfortable hiking boots. I have worn these a few times and haven't been uncomfortable at all -- no blisters, etc. They're very sturdy, too. I'm usually a size 9 (which I ordered) and every once in a while my toes hit the ends so maybe if given the opportunity again I would have ordered a 9.5 but it's not enough discomfort to complain about. I'm pretty picky about needing arch support, which these have. I got a cast off from a broken ankle about 5 weeks ago and these took me nicely through my first 2 hour hike since February this year. Definitely recommend.

I haven't worn them all day yet, but I've worn them several hours at a time, and they're very comfortable. I got them well in advance of a planned trip to Scotland so I'd have ample time to wear them in. I don't think they're going to give me any trouble at all. I'm glad they're a little roomy, as I can wear different weight socks, depending on the temperature. They can be tied tight enough that my foot doesn't slip, as I was afraid it would, as I have a fairly narrow heel and often have that problem with shoes. I'm very well pleased with these boots!

I just chose this blue color, since it was $30 cheaper than pink color, but this blue is greater than the blue in the photo!Basically, I love KEEN shoes, since price is reasonable (other brands are somewhat expensive) and shoes are good for hiking! Also, these shoes are designed to be Easy to take off (you can see upper hooks around knees)They used good material for bottom, so you don't worry about slipping, and it works well for Waterproof. Moreover, They cover my toes with hard rubber, so my toes are safe when I kick rocks on trails or mountains.

I purchased these Keen boots 3 weeks prior to our trip to Bryce and Zion National Parks last September. No "break in" time at all!! They were comfortable from the moment I placed them on my feet. I wear a women's size 7 but purchased a half size large to compensate for the thicker wool hiking sock I knew I'd be wearing and still, I had very little "sliding around" or other movement in the shoes. Traversed the narrow and rocky mountains steadily and with assuredness. I would highly recommend this boot for long hikes on paths or over rugged terrain!!

2.7.2014

These are great boots. They fit nicely. I have small ankles so they are a bit loose but I've dealt with that before. The laces are long enough to wrap around and tighten them up. They are more comfortable than any other boots I've worn. First trip I took them out on a moderate 5 mile hike. Considering I did not "break them in", my feet were not sore. I haven't tested the waterproofing yet but I will be wearing them 4 or 5 more times in the next 2 weeks before taking them to Yosemite for the real test. If anything changes, I'll send an update.
