I'd looked at these gas canister camping ovens for some time wondering how practical and effective they would be for outdoor camping, mostly in a campervan fitted with just a hob and no possibility of having an interior oven. After much deliberating I took the plunge and was not disappointed. It's been hard to find any review, particularly relating to gas consumption, heating up times etc so here goes....From igniting the gas, which lit first time, and setting it to maximum flow it took 6 minutes to reach 200°C and within 10 minutes it can reach 280°C as measured on the front thermometer which is on a par with a mini electrical oven of similar size.I use it mostly for heating foods from frozen such as fish fingers, breadcrumbed cod fillets 14mm thick and oven chips all intended to be cooked at 220°C for 25 minutes. Including the 6 minute heating up time, all were well cooked within just over 30 minutes which is exactly the same as using a conventional oven, the fish and fish fingers were evenly cooked but the oven chips were quite well done around their sides and ends but a few were a little limp in the middle so these were not quite as evenly cooked - although I am nit-picking here. On testing the internal temperature of the fish (I'm a food handler so this is second nature for me!), it was over 86°C five minutes after removing from the cooker and was consistently evenly cooked.Regarding gas consumption, I use 220g butane gas canisters and cooking the above uses 30-35g gas in an ambient temperature of 16-25°C which makes the oven surprisingly economical, offering about 6 x 30 minute cooking sessions at 220-240°C. If used for a longer cooking session eg 2 hours to cook a chicken, which fits well into the cooker, then it is even more economical because the heating up phase doesn't need to be repeated. The oven is designed for outdoor use to avoid any risk of carbon monoxide poisoning in a confined space, and this is how I used it. I could smell cooking smells but there was no gas odour at all which is always a fear with gas and although the sides of the oven became warm to the touch, they were not dangerously hot. You wouldn't want to pick up the oven with bare hands while cooking for 30 minutes but if you accidentally touched it then you wouldn't be burned.I was impressed by this oven for its performance, even cooking and economy and would definitely recommend it to anyone for outdoor use and hope you enjoy it as much as I have. No more surviving on fried bacon for my camping trips from now on!Cold weather update: I have now used the oven in freezing outdoor conditions with butane canisters and have a few additional observations to add to the review:1. Butane is not the best for outdoor cooking in cold conditions. Before use it is necessary to warm up the canisters to ensure adequate pressure otherwise the cooker suffers poorer performance and takes longer to warm up. Even just sitting on them for 15 minutes helps. Alternatively, Camping Gaz canisters would be a better option due to containing isobutane which is better-suited to cold weather.2. The oven struggles to maintain its temperature when used in bitterly cold wind. It is necessary to shelter the oven either by placing it against a non-combustible brick or stone wall or, when this isn't possible, I made a loose 'tent' for it from a fire blanket which helped retain some heat while also ensuring the side vent holes were not blocked. This also served to keep the butane canister warm and performance was now on a par to using in warmer summer weather.3. In cold weather, ie 4°C plus a cold wind, gas consumption increased to 50g from 35g and this provided 40 minutes use (7 mins to warm up to 220°C) and 33 mins cooking time at 220-240°C which seems reasonable. If the cooker is partly covered or sheltered from a cold wind then gas consumption reduces a little.

It was very well made and worked really well. People complain about being unable to regular the temp, but really all you have to do is look at the flame and it's not very hard at all.Part of the mechanism that holds the gas cartridge in place broke, so the latch that holds the can in failed to lock closed after a few uses, so I had to throw the oven away.Nobody else has reported that, so maybe I was unlucky.Highly recommended otherwise.

Transformed my camping experience . Was able to reheat a takeaway , cook sausage rolls , bacon and sausages . Only criticism is it took a while to get used to the temp settings . They never really need to be high .This will be in my van for the Winter no more luke warm food out of flasks .

I bought this about a year and a half ago and I use it almost every day. It's great for travelling around too because you can get the canisters all over Europe.
