Media reviews on Amazon tend to be overly subjective, so I'll try to remain objective here. The crux of the JC franchise's popularity has always been its playability and scope, in terms of the size of the environment. The flying, grappling, chuting and wing suiting across a vast vista (and blowing stuff up) are the core of the game. Well, that's not only all here in JC4, but Rico's movement has improved as well.Grappling is slicker and smoother than JC 3, and it now has longer reach which is a bonus. One small welcome addition is that Rico now runs like an athlete rather than, well, me.My initial impression was that the game might be too mission driven, from the opening sequences and mandatory tasks you have to complete, but that's just a bit of story introduction and the chance to show you a few new tricks. I also thought that the introduction of an almost "Risk" style movement of Rebel troops on the map seemed pretty confusing, as did the menu system for configuring which of your pilots can do what, and what mods you can add to your grapple. However, after an hour or two of trying out some missions and free roaming antics, it becomes fairly intuitive. This does give you more options and saves time with supply drops, so they're actually pretty good. Some have complained about changes to weapons, such as your explosive charges now only being available as a grapple mod and limiting vehicle ammo, as well as the weapons you can carry. Well, a lot of people complained that JC 3 was too easy and these limitations address that in some ways. You're stll never without options (or ammo, generously spilled by defeated enemies) though, and you have multiple pilots available for supply drops. So you're never really stuck for vehicles or weapons.Driving is way better than JC 3. The cars and even moreso the motorbikes are more stable than JC3. Now that doesn't mean you can take every bend or terrain at full speed all of the time and the vehicles don't behave perfectly, but the improvement is signifcant. You still have to contend with the erratic speed and behaviour of other vehicles. As in JC 3, this can work both for and against you. There will be times when you fail a mission because you can't get past the pile up of enemy vehicles arriving at your location. Their parking sense is worse than anything you'll see outside a school or Tesco on a Saturday lunch time (well, ok, nothing is that bad). Some of the AI aerial antics are pretty scary as well, as they randomly hurtle into objects. Howver, there are times when you'll at the very least accrue points for their self inflicted damage, and they'll also hinder their own efforts to stop you. My experience so far, is that while there are moments of pure frustration, it pretty much evens out. Such glitches (and the occasional getting stuck in walls etc.) have ever been part of the franchise and while it's not good, it's no longer surprising and sometmes even amusing. As for the story based missions, it's not really different from JC3, in that there are a sequence of missions to complete for some reason I didn't really pay attention to. They do keep areas of the map locked though and as in JC3, some areas are impossible to conquer until you've completed a set task. There are still hundreds of miles of territory available to openly play in though.Radio stations are available in vehicles, some of which are quite fun. They can be turned off if that's not your thing. The people still meander about chatting their are some humorous comments to be heard. It's true that their faces, if up close, aren't like real people. If that's important to you, don't buy it. In fact if it's important to you, don't play video games at all.The graphics are absolutely fine for the game and the expansive landscape. The effort to make it more lush and colorful than JC3 is apparent and given the volume of detail and breadth of space, there will be draw rate issues (nothing new) and some bits that are better than others. As with TV channels, an HD TV and HD cable will help and if it appears still to be rough, try a smaller screen. On a 50" HDTV, I'm finding it fine. No, they aren't the best graphics ever but I'd be surprised to find that in a game with such an expansive environment, compared to more contained modular environments (e.g. Star Wars Battlefront or those Fantasy games that have beautiful, but static backdrops and a fairly limited foreground). One noticeable improvement is the scale of explosions, which can be pretty epic.Much has been made of the weather and I think Enix are only guilty of clumsily explaining themselves. The specific weather features (tornadoes, electrical storms etc.) aren't general features, but appear in relation to specific missions and areas. They are very impressive though.A big thing to gets used to is the changed behaviour of the grapple. As mentioned, it's longer and can now be modded and you're no longer limited to 5 tethers. If you don't like the mods, you don't have to use them.Tethers now automatically retract. At first I was disappointed not to have the control of timing over that, but a few hours in, I no longer thought about it. The left trigger now gives you a zoom with your weapon instead which, while a big change for JC, is a welcome one. The camera is still often a bit finicky, so this really addresses a pain from previous versions. The challenges have been changed as well. There are still wing suit, driving, flying and sailing challenges in each region, though they've been simplified, I think it's fair to say. With the wingsuit, each challenge only consists of a few rings now, though they can be pretty tricky and require some thought as to how to maintain altitude or perform a tight turn. Driving and sailing ones require you to pass through a single ring either in a specific vehicle or at a target speed. Again, some of these are precariously placed and there's a bit if a puzzle element to some of them, which is a real fun addition. A good example is one where the ring is about 100ft in the air, but the required vehicle is a boat!Completion of these challenges is now how you collect vehicles and that's a great improvement, as you have to a) earn them via the task, rather than just find them and b) there's no laborious hunting of vehicles (they're generously located near the challenge - if you can't find one, leave the area and come back) or hauling them off to a garage to be added to your supply drop inventory.Enemies have had abit of a makeover, in that their chat isn't quite as repetitive or monotonous as in JC3 and you now get female baddies too. It's a bit weird to give an appreciative nod to gender equality before shooting someone in the face, but there it is. There are some missions where there seem to be great hordes of them, much moreso than in JC3, and their regeneration in areas you'd cleared will understandably frustrate some players. Again though, Enix were charged with improving a factor that was criticised for being too easy, and this is one way to do it.Bases regenerate chaos objects as well, if you go away and come back. I don't quite understand the objection some people have to this, as it provides more opportunities to get chaos points (and blow stuff up).As with JC3, so far I'm finding some parts very tough - not always due to the overall AI level, as sometimes it's down to it being a timed mission (not my strong point), or tricky to pin down objective markers (tip - always use the map, trust your position and look around slowly), or the glitchy GPS which can struggle to tell you exactly where you need to go (another tip - if the road arrows keep pointing you back and forth and your objective appears not to be there, try leaving the area and coming back, or re-starting your checkpoint). Generally though, it's a comfortable challenge across the board and accessable for all age groups (subject to acceptance of violence and some colourful language).Comments have been made about the different voice artists. If you're considering buying this only because you're fans of the previous voice artists, then you might notice they're different. If you expect cheesy macho nonsense in mostly South American Spanish type accents, then you may barely even notice. While I appreciate voice over artistry, I couldn't name any of the cast of JC3.Another point pointlessly raised is the lack of multiplayer options. It's not a multiplayer game and isn't advertised as such, so there's nothing to complain about, really. Personally I bought JC3 because it's single player and progressive. I love some of the multiplayer games (Star Wars Battlefront for example) but many of them are about playing matches to collect/unlock stuff, which is fine, but sometimes I want that sense of completion of the actual game. JC ticks that box.Still with me? Well done. In summary, everything in JC 3 is in JC 4. There's more of it. There are tweaks and improvements. Some of the old glitches are still there, but so is all of the playability.I paid £29 for this game. I wouldn't pay more than £30 for any video game purely on the basis that I don't think any amount of playing time, however enjoyable, equates to anything above that budget. That'll be different for others, dependent on circumstances and values, but I'm happy with it at that price and recommend it on that basis.

I don’t usually write a review but having read some of the very quick to judge reviews from other people, I thought I’d try my best at an honest review.I've always been a fan of just cause games, just cause 2 was probably my favourite game on the last-gen consoles, and when just cause 3 came out I couldn’t wait to get it, only to find for well over a year it was virtually unplayable because of frame rate issues. Once I upgraded to a PS4 pro, then i 100% completed it and it was great. Although not as good as Just Cause 2 in my opinion!Just cause 4 however I feel is a massive improvement on just cause 3 and for me personally, I feel it has the potential to very soon be better than just cause 2.Granted there are some graphical issues,motion-blur I’m not to bothered about, but the water isn’t very realistic in the tropical areas of the map and there is also a lot of pop in when it comes to trees and bushes in the tropical region. This pop-in is noticeable in that specific region more than others, plus the cutscenes are a bit plastic looking. BUT.... that is the only criticisms I have of the game!Other than that I am having an absolute blast playing it. frame rate is rock solid on my PS4 Pro which I couldnt be happier about, vehicle handling is the best it’s ever been, there are some cars that are a bit stiff to use, but otherwise the handling is fantastic for most cars and with the addition of quite a few radio stations to listen to, this is by far the most fun I’ve had driving in a just cause game! For me personally the Voice acting and mission structure is far better than its ever been in previous just causes. I still get to blow up and destroy everything, but In just cause 4 the mini missions you get told to carry out and interact with at each base that you discover gives that destruction a sense of purpose, which I personally really enjoy! Finally for those professional reviewers who have said this game offers nothing new to the franchise, I have to say they must be playing a different game to me!!The grapple hook is more customisable than ever before which is a great new addition. The dynamic weather is truly a sight to behold when you find yourself in the middle of a tornado or sandstorm and interacting with it how you choose to depending on the vehicle your in is amazing.AND gunplay is a noticeable step up from previous games with each weapon having at least 2 functions and the overall feel and power of guns feeling much stronger and more satisfying to shoot waves of enemies with.On release this game is an 8/10 for me, but once the game has recieved the graphical patches the developers have kindly promised, just cause 4 could well end up being my favourite game of this generation of consoles. for its sheer scale and freedom of interaction the player has with its vast and varied world, the just cause franchise still offers a feeling of pure enjoyment and satisfaction that few others offer to the same level!

Played this with the 1.11 patch and am very impressed. The graphics are as good as Just Cause 3 and the framerate is very stable. There is no slow down or pop up. Most frame rate issues are caused by having the internet connected. That's why I always play with it disconnected. The action is similar to the previous games with blowing up bases shooting down helicopters or hijacking them. The AI is fairer that in Just Cause 3 so if you steal a chopper kill the attacking enemies you are left alone for a while to blow up the base. Allot of the missions involve rescuing and protecting soldiers. I have played Just Cause 2 and 3 and like them all. If you liked the previous games you will enjoy this. The game is different than the other games but still as enjoyable. Its a pity when it was first released it had allot of problems. The graphics and AI have been improved allot.

This game is better than Just Cause 3 in every way and I really enjoyed that game.I put off buying it due to negative reviews but saw it cheap so purchased it and it is so much fun, which is what games are SUPPOSED to be!New gadgets that let you grapple a balloon to anything to drift upwards or attach a jet rocket to anything to send it flying.Missions are good but I usually go round causing chaos and loving it.For a game about toppling regimes there is very little politics or propaganda in it and that is probably why so many have given it negative reviews. This is old school fun without snowflake nonsense so enjoy!

I love this game. While many people will complain and tell you its awful because the graphics aren't spectacular (personally i think they're perfectly fine, excluding the cut-scenes which admittedly look awful) this game is a great successor to Just Cause 3. A true chaos sandbox with more tools and opportunities to make things explode. The story isn't quite as good as JC3 but the map is much more varied and the grapple upgrades really improve the gameplay.Would definitely recommend picking up the DLC as well as the Danger Rising DLC is the best Just Cause experience I've ever had, I mean who doesn't want a hoverboard?

I think this game is awesome so far! It's more fun like the last one, which I think is by all means, not a bad thing at all !!The graphics are good, don't know why people have been slagging this game off for the graphics, as I think they're fine. The game mechanics are solid and the fun you can have travelling round the map and using the wing suit and parachute as normal and the gun mechanics are improved also, no waiting to unlock the zoomed in aim. like Just Cause 3.So all round a solid game and fans of the previous game will love it!!!

Got this for my oldest kid (my husband) Gaming not my thing but he loves it. I was not sure what to get had to rely on reviews and information that Argos had provided regarding the games to help make my decision. His feedback was "This game is great, he has not stopped playing it since. So I guess I made right Choice in the Game. Thanks to Argos review specs and info. It would have been really helpful to have that information when it came to choosing my husband?

I have been a big fan of Just Cause ever since the original appeared on the PS2 - if you love Just Cause then you will love this. Bigger and better, still great fun. Riding on a vintage motorcycle around the HUGE open world of Solis, listening to some great Latin American music on your radio (several stations) admiring the fantastice series. And that's before unlocking the various weapons and grapple mods etc. This is beautiful and it's fun ! Just enjoy !

I see the negative reviews, but JC4 seems just to be different. I like the gameplay and its now less about killing and more about blowing up with new gadgets. Some aspects of graphics are poor like the water surface, and faces are a bit cartoonlike, and there is little sense of distance. But it's still a great game to play and I don't understand why it's 18 except to keep some countries happy.I hope an update will fix some of the graphics problems.

A great combination of Just Cause 2’s environment variety and Just Cause 3’s player toolset taken up a few levels and with a few new additions thrown in for good measure. Standing on a peak in the desert and seeing a tornado 50 miles away in the grasslands and using a wingsuit to travel to it is thrilling, and although the controls can be a bit fiddly, any failure is met with a decent reset so you don’t feel cheated when respawning

The game is a fun, fast, action packed adventure where you truly feel like it’s up to you what you do. You never feel like your being forced into mission and side quests that you don’t want to do, If you decide you just want to wingsuit around the map exploring the amazing landscapes that’s fine, but the game is always ready to switch up the pace whenever your ready ! Great game and is great for replay ability !

Loved the game. It was extremely fun to play and enjoy it with my friends. Played for good 2 months with the game without making me feel tired of playing the same game over and over again so I will recommend anyone who likes a bit of a fun playing in an open world map. The price I paid for it was very good and affordable. Argos always has the best offers for their games that's why I prefer it over GAMES UK.

If you a fan of the series or new to game to want be disappointed, massive open world full of things to explore, great weather changing effects including a gigantic Tornado which rips through the world. Endless battles and destruction, blow up what you want when you want, great land, sea and air vehicles - this is going to take some time to complete.Highly recommend the Gold Edition with all the DLC's

Excellant game very very fun most fun game of 2018.The map is huge which is insane because they have really put alot into making the map.The game is complicated which makes it more fun every time you play because you challenge yourself as its not easy and you work out how to do different things every time you playThere is literally so much to do.This game deserves alot more credit.

6.12.2018

Forget the bad reviews people are giving on this Game. I Love this Game, Gameplay and graphics are amazing. I also played just cause 3 as well. I found just cause 4 easier to play than Just cause 3 and I enjoyed this game more than Just cause 3.If your a fan of just cause game I recommend buying this Game.If you buy the Game on Sale you might get better deal.
