I actually bought this at a local Aldi store, BUT this is worth getting another review on amazon. So, I am one of those people who are incompetent boiling eggs in a pot. I just can't do it, no matter what I do. So I figures I pay 2 pound for this thing, and if it doesn't work, I won't cry over it.Halleluja, this thing is amazing! Okay, it boils only one egg at a time, but it works, I can actually eat hard boiled eggs again. Not half cooked and half liquidy, but actually boiled!!! I even take little Boily (yes, I gave it a name) to work to have a freshly boiled egg there for lunch. It's great. I am overly happy to have found this item in store, it's the best 2 pound investment ever! And it's very easy to use.The instructions are inside the egg, so when you buy it, don't be surprised it's not written on the packaging. Anyway, easy to use: fill up with water, pierce the egg, seal the thing... warm it up and eat. wohooo, 4 minutes for a perfectly delicious egg. I sound like one of those silly advertisement shows, but yeah, it's worth it's money. :)

In the past I have bought two other Joie Microwave Egg boilers, now this one. All of my others were used constantly and I just fancied a spanking new one, as the one I am using at the moment is looking faded and old...but still working perfectly. I shall keep him for spare! The 'Boiley' works perfectly for me and my husband. For us it is a 4mins 30 secs egg!. Everyone needs to find the right time for themselves. I have noticed that quite a few folks state that 'Boiley' when removed from the microwave is too hot to handle. I have never found this a problem as if the egg feels too hot to remove from 'Boiley' , then use a tea towel. It's only a moment of movement from 'Boiley' to the egg cup!I wouldn't be without my Joie Boiley, and I class it as an indispensable piece of equipment in my kitchen.

These two egg boilers were bought as a substitute for an older model that had worn out. The principle is simple. The whole egg in its shell is encased in an aluminium shell inside the boiler that blocks all microwaves. It sits above a small reservoir of water that isn't shielded, which boils quickly when heated by the microwave oven. This cooks the egg in about 3.5 minutes in my 800W oven. A small needle is also supplied to pierce the egg's shell and yolk before cooking to prevent the yolk from exploding.I've used my old boiler for years as a quick way of preparing a boiled egg without pans of water on the hob. These new ones work in exactly the same way and are very efficient as long as the instructions are followed closely.Recommended.

Boiley is very good for making perfect boiled eggs in the microwave. You need to follow the instructions, and experiment a bit with timings, but generally 4 minutes cook, 1 minute stand works for me (Our microwave is 850W)However - a very important safety notice (And it *does* say this in the instructions!) - don't forget to make a hole in the top of the egg before you cook it, to allow the excess pressure to escape.I forgot this morning in my not-very-awake state, and the whole thing exploded in the microwave.Very very messy! (Microwave, Boiley and myself are all fine)And then I burnt my toast too. In the words of Homer Simpson - "DOH!"The product is great though. Just don't trust me to use it!:-)

I purchased boiley on a whim thinking these gadgets never work, how wrong could I be?! From the first time I tried boiley I have produced eggsellent soft and hard boiled eggs every time. The egg piercer needs to be used with caution because it is very sharp but boiley is otherwise very child friendly. My family and I now have perfect eggs everyday and I often take boiley around with me as one of my children is a particularly fussy eater so I know she will never go hungry.I know you might think this drastic but boiley has literally changed my family's life, thank you Boiley!

It's really good but tricky to judge timing initially. 5 mins should be your benchmark and then up or down by 30 second increments. It's hot when it comes out of the microwave. Not sure why so many people are surprised by this but you need to let it sit for a minute or two anyway to let the egg finish cooking through. Little or no clean up required.Buy a proper egg piercer and for salads and sandwiches one of those wire slicing things.Serving suggestion: Boliey egg (5 min), leave to stand, turkey rashers (2.30 min ish), bun = perfect breakfast.

In many ways it is very good specially for hard boiled but, trying to get the correct timing for soft boiled eggs is proving difficult when i first used egg boiler the egg was raw with the stated timings, so I increased the time to 3.50 great soft boiled egg but the top half only!! so I put boiling/hot water in the base then 3.40mins nearly works will keep trying until I get a consistent soft boiled egg (both ends!!) then will review again

Brilliant - although on second attempt to perfect an egg the feet bottoms started to melt but no real damage thankfully..My microwave only goes up to 850w maximum power and instructions graded the times based on a 1000w microwave oven setting.Perhaps increasing the time to compensate for the lower power was a little too long. Now perfect every time !Delivery was good too - arrived within two days of order.

This was fine until the pin broke when pushing it through the egg shell. The pin sits in a little holder, but is not held in place sufficiently, so it just slid down through the holder and now isn't long enough to pierce the yoke. it splashes quite a bit inside the microwave, but apart from that, with a little trial and error on timings, does produce a great boiled egg. It lost a star for the broken pin.

I bought the microwavable egg boiler for the guests in my Bunkhouse. I successfully tried it out before letting it loose on my guests, and since then a few people have used it and so far have had no complaints. My only comment is that it is a bit of a faff-on to pierce the egg and make sure that the pierced part of the shell is on top. The last microwavable egg boiler I had, you didn't have to do this.

My Boiley was ordered on a weekend and was delivered on the Tuesday.....so a good fast delivery. It was all I hoped it would be.... my first attempt came out absolutely perfect.I used a chilled egg straight out the fridge, set my 1000w microwave for 5 mins and the eggwas part way between runny and soft...great for slicing onto a sandwich.

I bought this for a friend of mine who is acutely blind to use in the microwave for easy egg cooking. It has a small reservoir at the bottom which fills with water and a pin-like device for piercing the egg. She had no problem using it and the times stated on the instructions are accurate (3 mins for soft, 5 for hard). Makes tasty eggs!

Works perfectly for me, 5 minutes on full power gives me an egg just as I like it, with the yolk runny in the middle. First time I used it I added a bit too much water which caused the egg to crack and leak some white, but if you keep the level just below the line its fine. Makes a great lunchtime snack with a piece of buttered toast!

What a fab gadget. It took me a couple of goes to work out the right timing for a runny yolk with a perfectly cooked white (3 mins, 45 seconds on a reasonably largish sized egg!) and now I get it right each time.I would highly recommend this. Much quicker than boiling it in the saucepan and less water is used!

These Boiley egg boilers are great for use in a microwave oven as you get the most perfect boild egg evey time more so than boiling an egg in a sauce pan of water, it takes a bit if time to get the timeing correct to get the boiled egg to your liking but once sorted you wil not be disappointed with the results.
