I was after a lens hood and this is one of two I ordered - this one being a perfect fit for the Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5.6 IS II Lens on a Canon EOS 600D and at a fraction of the price of the genuine Canon branded part. From what I can make out the parts appear almost identical save for the branding and lets face it, it is a piece of plastic and I didn't really want to pay over the odds for a genuine Canon one. That said, I have no reason to question the quality of the "plastic" used for this JJC replacement as its as sturdy and well finished as I would expect it to be in order for it to last whilst doing its job!Supplied in a JJC printed retail box I had it fitted to the lens within seconds (literally)without issue. Ordered from Powerplanet (as they had it at the best price when ordering and) it arrived well packaged and well within the delivery window set by Amazon.Has to be five stars in all respects.UPDATE: 22nd November 2013No issues at all with item which is still in use :-)UPDATE: 15th January 2017I sold (the lens a month or so ago together with) this lens hood which was still in the same condition as when I received it new - the new owner was pleased with it.

This is exactly the same as my review for the smaller JJC Lenshood, with additions:-I had previously purchased a rubber type foldable lenshood, which screwed into the filter thread, but found this unsutable, so was about to buy a very expensive Canon lenshood. As far as I can tell this is exactly the same as the Canon hood it replaces, but is below half the price. It is basically a piece of plastic, as is the Canon one, which clips over the lens. I can clip it in a reversed position, for storage so it occupies very little space as it is stored with the lens.It seems an excellent buy.

Like the EW-60C this also appears to be a strong well made hood that does the job required. It does seem expensive for what is a fairly basic bit of plastic, you can buy kids toys that are made with more detail and a hundred times more plastic in them than this for a couple of quid, however compared to the Canon version the JJC version is very cheap. I have given it 5 stars as there isn't anything you can knock it beside the price but as I have stated it is far cheaper than the original from Canon.

This might just be a simple piece of Plastic and inexpensive at that, but behind the simplicity is a fantastic bit of kit, but it works and works very well, preventing unwanted light hitting the lens, and also protecting the delicate and vulnarable end of your lens getting damaged accidently, well worth the cost !This is my Second in a week !!!

It does exactly what you would expect really. It seats firmly onto the end of the lens and prevents peripheral light rays from coming into the camera off-axis - this really helps to reduce lens flares from low sun and haloes from peripheral light sources during long exposures etc. This is a good cheap alternative to the Canon branded stuff.

Brought a few of these now for different lenses (just make sure you get the correct one for your particular lens) and can't see any reason to pay 4 times the price for a cannon one!Fits perfectly, nice and tight if you fully rotate it and is reversible just like the real thing.Couldn't be happier!

Again another product from a manufacturer and supplier not intent on making you bankrupt for your art. Offers competition to the named brand and does essentially the same job for a reaslistic amount of money for what is in essence just a piece of plastic!

Without being able to compare it directly to the canon one I can't say if it's any better or worse but for the money it does the job perfectly. Seems pretty robust and after all a lens hood is just a bit of plastic so this is as good as any in my opinion.

I have just returned from a holiday in Cuba, with this lens hood fitted to my EF 75 - 300mm f/4-5.6 III USM lens. It works well, and was easy to mount and dismount from my lens, with none of the stiffness reported by other reviewers. Can't fault it.

Fits (EF 70-30) flawlessly, fits perfectly and makes you look more professional, it even fits into my EFS 18-55mm lens aswell but you have to set the focal length to at least 24MM to avoid the obvious (the hood being in the corners of the picture)

Canon ET-60 Compatible Lens Hood for EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 II, EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 III, EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 III USM, EF 75-300mm f/4.0-5.6 II USM, EF 90-300mm f/4.5-5.6, EF 90-300mm f/4.5-5.6 USMExcellent. Fitted as expected, does the job.

Why pay the exorbitant price for the Canon hood when this is just as good! The only reason it didn't get 5* is because it is a bit tight to fit on the 55-250mm IS canon lens, but hopefully it will 'work in' at a later date!A No Brainer really!

13.7.2013

This hood fits perfectly and is easy to put on and take off. Extremely good value, a fraction of the genuine Canon hood. If you loose this hood then no tears needed as so cheap to replace. Looks far more expensive than actual cost. V G buy.

Excellent product - just the job. It fits very nicely and doesn't feel cheap or flimsy. Can be stored on the lens when not in use too.The difference in quality on outside shots in sunlight is amazing - very impressed.

Question. Can a product be as good as another that costs far more?Answer. In this instance it is a great big fat YES.Good snug fit, sturdy construction and does the job it was designed for. What more can you ask for.
