Yes! Finally a James Bond that can harken back to the glory days of 'Goldeneye' on the N64. Nightfire is a healthy mix of everything Bondian, Big Guns, Gorgeous Ladies, Cool gadgets and Tasty Motors. The game is effectively a first-person shooter concerning Bond's latest mission to stop industrialist Raphael Drake from ruling the world with an arsenal of nuclear missiles, but it goes about this beautifully.the game begins with an opening mission in the vein of classic Bond pre-credits sequences. It has nothing to do with the central plot line but introduces sniping and driving sections perfectly. This is a great strength of the game. Although the game is dominated by first-person levels,it does throw in some on-rails shooters with Bond just firing a massive gun at his enemies, some driving games which are suprisingly well-done considering the primary genre, then some. Even the shooting segments are divided beautifully. Some levels involve stealth, some involve sniping, some involve pitched gun battles, the list is certainly impressive and helps to keep each level refreshing and exciting. The game also rewards good players in certain aspects at the end of each mission, such as speed, health, accuracy, and bond moves performed (clever moves like alternate routes). These can unlock new multi-player options, characeters, games, or weapons and gadgets upgrades which gives the game a much needed boost of lifespan.Of course the massive lifespan can be found in multiplayer, a huge plethora of games inhabited by classic faces in the Bond world from an impressive selection of films. The sheer beauty of the multiplayer however lies in the vast variety of options. not only are there well over 10 game types, but these can be team or non-team and can have configurable bots, or personality bots (characters), a vast number of weapons options, not to mention the option to include mini- helicopters/tanks and gun turrets on the map. Wow! The options to be explored are truly phenomenal. True, initially this is a much more limited selection, but as you progress through the single player game, you unearth more and more bonuses and it makes it all the more rewarding. If there are any low points to the game, my main gripe would be the difficulty in places. In order to get the more difficuly unlocks, you have to perform Bond Moves that can often be quite obscure (blowing up a barrel to kill a guard instead of just shooting him, but it only works if he's involved in a firefight with you for example). But eventually it all becomes clear as you start to think and play like Bond.Unlike the less worthy Agent Under Fire, Nightfire is a solid game that really does provide a true Bond experience (even if the plot does rip off some of the poorer movies such as 'Moonraker') and you'll have tons of fun driving the vehicles, palying with the gadgets, and getting the girl.'Ready the save the world again 007?'You will be!

For those of you who thought Agent Under Fire was excellent, there is not a word that can describe this. Based roughly on Die Another Day, it is about the Americans loosing a key component to their new Space Weapons Platform, and guess what, it is up to you to recover this and save the world from the green industrialist Rafael Drake. For a start, the game is much more difficult than Agent Under Fire. If you have played it, you will remember the ease of completing it. The first mission involved opening a few doors, killing a few people, recovering a briefcase and using your laser to release someone. In Nightfire, I won't say much but if you think the first level is easy, then try again once you've completed it.As usual, Bond has all the latest hi tech gadgets and weapons. To name a few, there is exploding shavers and satchel charges, rocket and grenade launches, as well as many more. I have not yet completed the game, but I am aware that the final level is a lot harder than Agent Under Fire. There's more to it than 1 rocket being fired at the enemy. The car controls are roughly the same, with the same weaponary, but nontheless, a lot more fun. To my knowledge, you get to go underwater in this game, as well as into space ( the final level though ). You have to infiltrate bases without being spotted ( it is difficult! ) but where's the fun in the game if it is easy. The better medal you get, the better reward ( upgradeable gadgets ). I would rate this game 9 out of 10. I would not give it 10, because in my opinion nothing is perfect, there's always room for inprovement. Don't get me wrong, EA Games have done an excellent job in making this game, but I'm sure there's more things that could be added should there be another game. Now they get to base Bond on Brosnan's face, what about his voice? Also, on one mission, you have to meet Q, but as unfortunately he is no longer with us, why didn't it say meet R? Unless it was a tribute to him. I don't go looking for problems, and so far ( I've completed about 4-5 levels ) I have found no faults at all. However, on a particular mission, I found the door you had to go through would open a bit, before closing. When I finally got through, there was an enemy right against the door. A mistake, or an excellent try to make it more difficult? Whichever, congratulations EA on an excellent game, and I hope there's more to follow.

there's still plenty to keep up interest.I don't think Nightfire will knock the seminal Goldeneye from its perch at the pinnacle of 007 console gaming but it's the best effort yet to feature on either Playstation. The depth of the play is much better than I expected. While mainly a linear plot in the form of Medal of Honor, there are options to be taken at most stages of play. Your decisions can alter your progress, opening up a wider choice of weapons later in the level and whether or not you get bonuses. These are awarded if you perform various "Bond" signature moves such as using your grappling hook or pulling off a cunning stunt. This keeps you going back to try and better your score on each level which in turn opens up more characters, weapons and features in the multi-player game.Graphically Nightfire is superb with charcters and locations a real treat compared to PSOne attempts at the Bond universe.A variety of locations straight from the set of your favourite Bond movies help to add atmosphere. Enjoy blasting guards at an Austrian castle swept in snow or try a more stealthy approach sniping baddies in a Japanese garden or at a nuclear power plant. There's a even a level in space which is a clear reference to Moonraker. On the downside the loading time is long, not just between levels but also within sub-sections. I found this frustrating when I wanted to get on with the action (the old N64 never had this problem). Also the driving levels when Bond tears up the tarmac in his trusty Aston Martin are frustrating. There is no real sense of being in control of the car - it's way too sensitive - and you don't feel able to influence events unfolding around you.Overall I'd recommend this game as a classy first person shooter. But once completed and all the multiplayer options are opened up I reckon there will be little to tempt me back to play alone ...

Well, I have to say one of the first games I got for my Playstation 2 was 007: Agent Under Fire, which in my opinion, was good in that it offered something different i.e.: Bit of First-Person-Shooting, on rails shooting and driving. But getting through the game and most of the unlockables was easy.I mean for example, you can take on that game 50 bullets approx but your enemies take about three. Also the snipers were really easy to spot as the lasersights from their guns made a ruddy line! Wheras on this game not only are the graphics more polished, the enemies are harder and more intelligent. They hide more when you shoot at them instead of running straight towards you. Also getting some of the unlockables is incredably hard and there are loads of them to unlock. The storyline is also darker as well, well it has a darker and more gritty feel about it. It feels more like something out of Brosnan film instead of a Roger Moore one, which Agent Under Fire doesn't.Some of the best levels are the driving ones. My personal favourite levels are 'The Exchange' because it is the level where you can use the most of your stealth abilities without being forced to, and 'Enemies Vanquished' as you can drive the Aston Martin V12 (as seen in Die Another Day) at breakneck speed. Another great addition to the game is the ability to have bots in multiplayer, (something that the PS2 version of AUF didn't have but the Xbox and Gamecube ones did evidently!) so if you're bored with the one player and have no friends around you can still have a deathmatch on multiplayer against upto three computer controlled characters. This game is essiential to all Bond fans and is by far the best yet. It will leave you feeling both shaken and stirred. *****

I think Bond is rubbish. I saw GoldenEye the other day and I wasn't impressed at all. I prefer the American antics of John McClane. I'm shallow like that, see? However, this game is rather fantastic. The first thing that struck me about the game was the graphics. The first level has you sitting in a helicopter shooting at villains in cars. I wasn't expecting it - I expected dodgy, movie tie-in graphics where the character's limbs vanished for a few seconds and stuff like that - but the graphics in this game are pretty lush. Maybe they used EA's Medal of Honor Frontline graphics engine, but the beautiful graphics and breathtakingly realistic scenery makes this game all the more fun to play. That and the great cutscenes, which were a total surprise as well. And that's what this game's all about: fun! It makes FPS games fun again, with the funny script and the decent voice-acting, and the groovy level design that makes you feel like a secret agent (or John McClane - I couldn't help but mow down a foriegn perp with my handgun and say "What was that?" after he shouted something in German). Yeah, it's a bit easy, but I'm rubbish at games so that was alright for me. I finished this game in two days, but I had a blast. And now I'm going to play it again, and this time I'll pay attention to the story (which is great, by the way).Yeah, James Bond may be a womanising drunkard with stupid eyebrows, but this game is great.

... It is a first person shooter and if you don't like them, don't buy it. The car missions are not as good as the shooting bits. But the shooting bits are class, combining stealth and sniping with all out guns blazing. The graphics are lush and the environments are varied and excellant. As for the guns, well there are many and they are very cool, expecially when reloaded they look fantastic. Enemy AI is improved no end and the gadgets are usefull and are used quite frequently. If you remember tomorrow never dies on PS1 you used 1 or 2 gadgets throughout the game. Anyway, Nightfire combines the quality story mode with an outstanding multiplayer, this is where it excels from agent under fire. You can have bots and you can fully customise them, a original and very impressive idea. The levels are very large and there are many different multiplayer games. Again multiplayer features are unlocked by gaining gold and platinum medals in the story mode, and platinum medals are very challenging, don't let anyone tell you its too easy, it is not. It will provide a great challenge, which at times is frustrating but the outcome of completing a mission is very satisfying. To some it up, it is like agent under fire, but improved with some superb aditions and features.

James Bond Nightfire is a huge improvement on it's predescesor (Agent under fire). The graphics are much better, the levels are more challeging and bigger, the multiplayer mode is also excellent as usual.Nightfire features 12 levels, (the same as Agent under fire), loads of weapons and gadgets, 10 multiplayer levels which feature several good and evil charecters as well as unlockable charecters including Oddjob and Scaramanga. Multiplayer mode also includes several weapon sets and you can also control 2 mini vechicles and fixed gun positions as an option in all levels apart from the last. Also this time around EA games have used Pierce Brosnans'face which makes the game feel more realistic than other James Bond games.Ther are not really any major downsides about this game except that the weapon sets are not fully customisable in multiplayer mode as they are in Agent under fire which I doubt that anyone would have a problem with.Overall a brilliant game but still could never beat the quality of Goldeneye on the N64 but it is much better than Agent under fire and the disapointing james bond PS1 era. This game is ideal for people who liked Agent under fire and anyone who is looking for a decent game to spend their hard earned cash on.

To my great suprise, Nightfire proved exceedingly better than the last outing, and a large improvement on my expectations. Having purchased Agent Under Fire previously, I was expecting something of a similar style, but where Agent Under Fire provided limited longevity, and a rather bright, unbelievable setting, Nightfire gives a well honed atmosphere and provides longevity by giving you the chance to unlock more if you replay a level. As far as the graphics go, Nightfire is a huge improvement on the previous offering. The levels are quite large, and there isn't a jaggy edge in sight! The gameplay is excellent, my only complaint being the lack of freedom you receive (set routes, etc..),but this is fine for the casual gamer. The multiplayer is one of the highlights of the game, and, although it is nothing when compared to the likes of Timesplitters 2, it still provides many hours of enjoyment. In conclusion then, I give this game a fair 4 stars, and well it deserves them.

The quality of the game when it was delivered was excellent, there was a mark or scratch to be found, and it came with the manual as well! The game undoubtedly takes #1 for my favourite Bond game of all time, the graphics and feel of the game is incredible for 2002. I'll admit the story mode is a bit short but it makes up for this by being one of those games you just love to play over and over again, trying to get Platinum in every mission takes a very long time and can be guaranteed to give you at least 6 months of fun.The multi-play is also brilliant, it may seem a bit simple but hey, who cares? All the old favourites make an appearance (e.g. Jaws, Oddjob and his bowler hat)and the weaponry ranges from standard issue like the Walther PP7 to incredibly-advanced prototypes like the Phoenix Samurai. the fixed gun emplacements are worth a mention, having a mix of machine guns to fixed grenade launchers.Definetly money well spent

Agent Under Fire was the first Bond game on PS2 and in my opinion it was purely the name that got this poorly constructed rushed game to the top. OO7 Nightfire is the complete opposite. Every moment of every mission is action-packed and will keep you glued to the screen for hours! The game takes you to glamorous locations both on land and under water with the climax set in space!! An incredibly large arsenal will help you through these missions ranging from pistols such as the PP7 to the real weapons such as the guided rocket launchers and mini guns. You also get to take a spin in the new Aston Martin Vanquish in 3 of the 12 levels. Why not invite friends round to play the multiplayer levels where you can chose from multiple scenarios and can play as characters from all the classic bond films from Dr. No - The World is not Enough!Bond is back in his best game yet!!

In the world of PS2 FPS games, it joins but doesn't topple Timesplitters 2 from it's happy perch at the top. The game itself is near perfect, beautiful, difficult and replayable (not a word, but who cares?), a typically Bond storyline takes you through an entrepeneur's dinner party and onto a stupid space NMD platform (I did complain, but I'm too tired to carry on). The single player is very much the same as Agent Under Fire's, it mixes the FPS gadget laden format with driving missions, whilst the multiplayer format gives many hours of fun, it has the bots missing from Agent Under Fire, massses of weaponry and environments, but lacks the one shot kill system, which I always preferred (this always helps my scumbag trigger happy chums). Without a doubt better than Agent Under Fire, but still buy Timesplitters 2.

How many of you can remember the thrill of playing Goldeneye on the 64? How many can remember the shire gaming bliss that came with it? Well, Nightfire doesn't beat Goldeneye, and i really don't think that anything can. Goldeneye was a piece of gaming history. But Nightfire is a good game, don't get me wrong. Agent Under Fire was, shall i say, a slight disappointment, but Nightfire truely lives up to the Bond name. The missions are quite complex, if not a bit short, but the game overall is worth completing. You'll want to return to finish the game to unlock all the secrets.Nightfire is the best bond game for a long time (since Goldeneye). Hard core fans should buy this game, hard core gamers should buy this game, but if your looking for a Goldeneye beater, try somewhere else.

This is much better than any of the other 007 games, the levels are cool and the mutiplayer games are much more fun. You are 007with a wide variety of weapons and gadgets at your disposal. The best bit about this game is definately the weapons ranging from the wolfram PP7/P2K standard issue pistol to the hugely poweful sentinel and scorpion rocket launchers. This game isn't very violent (there is NO blood) and the graphics and sound are superb. Fight your way through 12 action packed missions with a few cars to smash up along the way. The multiplayer game has 10 modes (most of which are unlocked in single player)and about 15 locations in which to play.Overall a really fun game with up to four human players in multiplayer.

I bought this game when it first game out expecting it to be along the same lines as Hitman, but alas this was not to be, the FPS missions are brilliant and do drag you in, the hiding, using your heat scensing glasses(to see the emeny through walls etc) is awesome and theeennnnnnn we come to the driving parts, boring you can die unless you crash as the enemy couldn't shoot a barn door from 5 paces using a 12 bore, the game is good enough to buy so long as you can put up with a few rubbish missions (they dont last long, the driving) and is a must to any Bond fanatic

This is the best James Bond game i have played since the PS1 game "The World is Not Enough"!The grapics are excellent and the gameplay is Perfect.I thouroughly enjoy the multiplayer mode as it allows you to play against four other people (With multitap) and you can all be famous villains such as Jaws or Odjob.i am a huge fan of James Bond and always have benn and this just made me more enthusiastic.I really enjoyed taking control of the luxurious Aston Martin which is great fun.I must buy for any Bond fan or anyone who enjoys Action/Adventure!
