Bond, James Bond, hasn't transferred well to video games. Most of his outings have been mediocre or down right terrible. Nothing will come close to the legendary game that is the original N64 Goldeneye game.Still, From Russia With Love, so far the most current Bond game decides to go back in time. It's stylings and technology are sixties in look and feel, because Sean Connery is back as the super spy. It's the right move to make - the nostalgic feel of the films with all the old gadgets included make this game great for any Bond fan, and it doesn't in any way, become a travesty of the classic film.In fact, the movie's plotline is used to great effect for some pretty good levels. From the opening maze scene, right to the very end boat chase finale, this follows the film closely, and the levels don't feel force.Occasionally the creators have included an extra bit not in the film, but on the whole, it's accurate, and the new stuff - apart from Natasha Bedingfield as one of the characters, why? - doesn't feel out of place. The controls are pretty fluid, and are set in the usual 3rd person adventure positioning that every game uses. The jet pack was a surprise, in that it's very easy to handle. The only difficulty in conttrols wise was manning the gun turrets, particularly on the first speed boat level - it is very picky, and you have to be very accurate, which makes that sewer level a pain to complete. The driving sections, while a bit plain, where quite good fun, nonetheless. And there is also a small mini-game where you have to unlock briefcases to get the info inside which is mildly diverting from the main missions. The main missions, however, are quite short. I blasted through this game in 2 days. It's not exactly a laster - however, harder difficulty settings gie you more objectives, and there's alwasy the obligatory multiplayer option (but that will never beat Goldeneye's endlessly playable N64 version). On the whole, this game, most importantly, wasn't a let down. While short, it was a blast of fun, and polished to spick and span from the cut scenes to in game graphics by EA. It feels, in places, more like a ovie than a game, and proves that Connery is, without a doubt, the best Bond of all...!

This beats all the other James Bond games by far!It has around 20 challenging missions to complete and bonus levels to unlock.Aside from the mission's objectives, there are 4 more to accomplish- disables, time limit, bond moment and a difficulty. You will get an award for every one of these. Awards are used to unlock bonus levels eg. you will need 10 awards to unlock the first bonus level.I also like the upgrade feature where you can upgrade weapons and gadgets of your choice and also like the view which is at 3rd person. In Multiplayer you can play up to 4 player and after each game your stats will be recorded and you can have a look at anytime. For eg.you can see who out of the four of you had the average longest life, who was the most accurate or even who used a certain weapon most. My favourite feature is that you can trap your opponents. For eg. your opponent is running down a corridor at you and you jam the switch, they will be locked in for a short amount of time, giving you time to get away.Disables- these are red stars that you will be awarded for stealth attacks, melee attacks or bond focus attacks where you have to attack certain targets on the body.Reach the target of disables in the level and you will recieve an award.Time Limit- complete the level within the time and you will recieve an award.Bond Moment- this is a special goal to be achieved such as shoot the gas near the car, defeat the helicopter quickly or find the secret armory.Accomplish this and you will recieve an award.Difficulty- you are set a target difficulty and when you complete the level on that difficulty you will recieve an award. When I purchased this game it was 12+ age rating. It is 12+ in ASDA,Blockbuster,Gamestation and Game and other stores so I am confused about the rating and I expect it is 12+.This game is well worth the money!

Based on the film, "From Russia with Love," EA have compiled a game that fans of the James Bond series will love, and those who love great games will enjoy. From Russia With Love follows James Bond attempting to save the world once again from forces that threaten all sorts of horrible things for Mankind, and who want James Bond out of the way. Basically, its based on the film. The graphics are good, but not great. You get the feeling they could have been better, and that more detail could have been added, especially in certain sections such as the hedge maze. However, there are some brilliant touches such as flying above London, so you'll forgive this. That, and there is very little pop up 2 and the enemies are well created. The gameplay is set in the third person (you control a person as opposed to just a gun.) This follows the same formulae as James Bond, "Everything or Nothing," on PS2. That is, you shoot, fly and drive your way through the missions (flying is a nice touch.) However, it is so deep. The shooting sections for instance mean you can either a) creep up and use excellent stealth moves, b) take cover and shoot or c) go in all guns blazing. This means it can keep everyone happy. Add to this the fact that you can upgrade your weapons and gadgets by finding schematics in the game and some brilliant gadgets such as the little helicopter bomb thing and you've got a great game. Best thing is that Sean Connery even lends his voice to the game, so the sound is good too. What lets it down, 1) only 22 levels means its not very long. 2) We saw all of this in "Everything or Nothing," which even had an original story line. For those who always wanted to see a James Bond game based on one of the films though, this is great. Good gameplay and graphics make this a fine addition to any PS2 collection.

Having played all the other Bond games I almost missed out on this one as a Playstation magazine gave it an appalling review. I can't remember why but I remember the score was something like 34%. Having picked it up for a bargain price I am glad I did, it also made me prefer to read handfuls of reviews on amazon from everyday folk rather than the one, often biased, reviews in playstation magazines. With regards to graphics, sound and playability this is every bit as good as the other Bond games on the PS2. The gameplay is the usual mixture of car chases and shooting, and features a jet pack to boot! Playing as Sean Connery is a real treat too, as lets face he was the best Bond. The cut scenes throughout the game are excellent and reflect the sixties films with Connery perfectly. One of the best features of the game was actually capturing the Bond moments for a purpose. Not just to rack up a score, but there are 4 or 5 bonus levels to unlock by completing certain challenges within each level (such as completing it in a certain time, completing in hard mode etc) and once the game is completed, which admittedly doesn't take that long)you will actually go back to get those awards in order to unlock the additional levels. The other Bond games just do not have that, and for me that feature added to the lifespan considerably. So if like me you were the victim of that rather cruel playstation magazine review and missed out, pick this game up now, you won't be disappointed!

This game is totally what you'd expect it to be, all action from beginning to end. Plenty of equipment to choose from- sonic cufflinks, portable gun turrets and of course the essential jet pack.Don't expect to complete a mission easily. You think you've completed a mission, only to suddenly find yourself back driving or heading down river in a speedboat. My only criticism would be the aiming system when on the boat. The enemies are impossible to kill unless you zoom in but when you do it throws the targeting off so you have to forget accurate aim and just hope you hit something. The end sequence of the game is rather short and disappointing too considering the amount of work you've put in to get there! This game isn't just for Bond fans.Anybody who likes shoot 'em ups and action will enjoy this!

This game grows on you. Initially, I put it on, and thought 'hmmm, nice graphics, decent gameplay, its....ok'. Having watched the film, the likenesses are captured well, and I like the overall 'feel' of the game. However, the more I played, the more I enjoyed. Getting Sean Connery to do the voicework was a stroke of genius, although at times he does seemt to be phoning it in.Although the gameplay in a lot of levels is quite similar, and can be easy, each level has quite a lot of charm. Would have been nice if the game had allowed more freedom, a la GTA, but never mind. There are plenty of challenges and unlockables, so even though you may breeze through the main levels quite quickly, there is enough to keep you coming back.in essence, a good, fun game, that adapts a great Bond film.

This is my favourite game, but not on PS2 as gameplay is rather stuttery, slow and has long loading times. My friends bought this on Gamecube and Xbox and gameplay was much faster and better on those cosoles. I have a gamecube and wished I bought it on that. However, despite the slowness, this game has excellent graphics and the missions are great. I've completed it once and kind of understand this strange storyline. This might just be me, but Sean Connery's voice is hard to follow! I've always found 007 games made by MGM interactive really good quality and fun to play on. These 007 games seem to just get better and better.Excellent game, but would reccomend on a different console if possible, simply to improve gameplay.

This is an excellent game. The graphics are very clear and detailed, and the levels are nice and long. There is so much action in this game it'll keep you on the edge of your seat. Unfortunately it only took me a few days to get near enough to the end. And when I did I discovered that in order to complete the last 3 levels, you have to collect virtually all the reward points from previous levels which is very difficult indeed. When I discovered this annoying flaw I had to start the game all over again trying to find reward points. Because of this, I would say Everything or Nothing was better, but apart from that, it is a very good action game.

I enjoyed this game. It was well set out and easy to play. The controls for the various functions were usable and instructions given within the game were useful. The third person view also worked very well, which was better than just following the barrel of a gun around. The stealth modes were good and allow a bit more thought to be used, rather than just simply tapping a way as fast as possible to shoot the baddies. All the classic Bond elements are in the game such as meeting Moneypenny, Q, and M and an old Aston Martin. I would thoroughly recommend this game. I think a sequel perhaps based on a later Bond movie would be worthwhile.

NOTE TO ALL GAMERS!!! ALL GAMERS!!! READ THIS!!!!i this is a major note to all gamers this game is amasing! and i mean amasing...yes it is easy at times but really you are playing the movie or what is a movie...to be honest at times a felt like james bond its so cool its unbelievable...i dont play james bond games but this is cool and a must, nightfire= maybetommorow never dies= maybefrom russia with love= YES! The james bond games have always been good, but this one is amazing. For starters it is a classic bond, so people may be more familiar with it, the graphics are just unbeliveable and of course you can use a jetpack. it is a well set out game and definitly a easy to pick up game. the multiplayer is good as it has several modes. another good thing is that you can buy upgrades and you are more involded in gadgets, ECT. i would say that this game is well worth it and contais lots of fun in a box!

22.7.2006

Sorry to burst any bubbles if you haven't seen this game yet, but it's just "everything or nothing" again but less fun. this time you've got mini copters instead of robot spiders (not as much fun), and the rappel is kind of automatic making it a bit worse and no bond super sense mode which I missed. If you never saw the other game go for it, these mgm bond games are very classy, hence 4 stars, but I was a bit apathetic after a couple of level.

23.12.2007

I think that it was a great idea bringing an older Bond into the modern world of gaming. The graphics are great, the weapons are phenominal, the story line is gripping. There is no better Bond to date. The car controls can be hard to understand at first and there are the usual unrealistic events but this game is a must have for any Bond fan. They should definitely design some more classic Bond games.

2.3.2007

James Bond from Russia with Love is based on the best James Bond game ever; James Bond Everything or Nothing. The gameplay is fantastic but there could be more levels. The last mission doesnt really `finish` it for me.The multi player modes are brilliant fun but they could have made it as good as Nightfire.Overall this game is still good and i recommend it to anyone.

Played this many years ago when I first had a ps2. Sadly sold it and gladly got it back on Amazon. Sean Connery does a brilliant job of being the voice (obviously a little bit older in the voice) this is everything you love to be in a bond game. The car chases, things blowing up around you, using jetpacks and gadgets such as the Q copter, smartphone and the laser watch
