I've had a few Bluetooth speakers and although this Double Chill version from Jam isn't the best sounding it's one of the most useful somehow. The size and shape mean it's perfect for carrying around the house or beyond, it's no bigger than a mug of coffee and the upright style mean it has a small footprint so you can set it down anywhere. The fact that it's water resistant mean you don't have to be too precious with it and if it gets dusty or grubby you can rinse it clean again or let the rain do it for you.The sound quality is good but not outstanding and music is clear and listenable despite missing the deeper bass notes. It's got nice presence but it's hardly room-filling and remains audible and clear without necessarily annoying everyone around you if you're in a public space. It's especially good for spoken voice reproduction so if you like talk-radio or audiobooks it's a great little accessory to carry with you. The driver is mounted pointing up so the sound emerges from the top and of course it's mono. There is a small perforated grill on the side of the unit hidden beneath the mesh fabric but I don't think that's a speaker port, though I might be wrong. The build quality seems good and the top and upper section are wrapped in a synthetic mesh fabric which give it an unusual look and texture. On the bass there's a peel-open silicone trapdoor that makes a non-slip base for the speaker and protects the micro-USB and AUX sockets inside. Also hidden inside the base is a small reel that holds a short micro-USB cable you'll need to charge the speaker and one end of this has a right-angled connector so it can be connected while the base is sealed shut with the cable being fed out of a mini-trapdoor on the side of the speaker. This trapdoor was jammed tight shut on mine and had to be forced open from inside at first - of course the speaker isn't water-resistant with this trapdoor open. The controls are cleverly integrated into a rubber strip at the top of the speaker and use various button combinations to control the music, volume and to make/take handsfree phone-calls if you've paired the speaker with your smartphone. Battery life seems good too and it lasts for hours on a single charge when playing at a moderate volume. It pairs with Bluetooth devices easily and quite quickly and I've only had any problems while using my Samsung smartphone which occasionally drops the connection but I'm almost certain that's the phone's fault and not the speaker's.That mini USB cable hidden in the base could be useful for charging up many different devices making this little speaker a useful thing to have around on your travels too. I've found myself using it in different locations around the house much more than other speakers I've owned, it does somehow feel like a personal device you want to keep with you and being the size and shape of a coffee mug makes that seem second nature. It's not the best-sounding speaker I ever heard but one of the most likeable and useful.

For its size, it packs quite a punch especially the bass. The lows are quite perceptible and I like my Music to have bass. I was initially very disappointed by the poor sound of this speaker. It turned out the sound was being blocked by the white circular paper sticker that shows the Playback Controls assigned to the 3 buttons ( O | X ) on the coloured (light-blue on my speaker) strip. I removed it and was pleasantly surprised at how loud the Speaker gets. I am using an Xperia XZ, with mostly High Res audio files or MP3s encoded at 320 kbps as the Music Player so your experience may vary as I can clearly hear differences with various Equaliser Presets as well as manual settings.Easy of Use,Controls-------------------In terms of Controls, it could not get any easier. Everything is assigned among the 3 buttons (O | X). I like that the buttons are large and responsive. For instance, to the O is used for both volume up and skipping to the next track. Pressing it in rapid successions without holding increases the volume. Press it and hold to skip to the next song. The X is the opposite, press it and hold to skip to the previous song on the Playlist, or give it quick taps and decrease the volume. Turn the device on/off using the '|' button.Bluetooth Connectivity--------------------------------Connecting to a Bluetooth device is very easy. The moment I turned on it started flashing red and blue alternately. I turned on Bluetooth on my Phone which quickly picked the Double Chill. In a few seconds I was playing music through the Double Chill. Now each time I turn it on, and a previously connected Device is on and Bluetooth is on, connects to the device automatically, and emits some funny sound to signal it is connected or disconnected. You get audio feedback when it is powered on or off as well so overall, a very easy to use Speaker.I pitied it against two (2) other Portable speakers (from more popular brands) of comparable size (though they are flat) but both cost £99 and this trounced them in the bass category and loudness. So at about a 1/3 of the cost, I am very impressed by this speaker's performance.

Ive got a couple of Jam Double Down speakers and love them, so when this came up I thought Id give it a look.In terms of size vs output, its surprisingly compact considering the sound quality - its not going to compete with a Bose, but then at £35 you cant expect it to. The sound is stable even at the loudest volume, base is great, and theres no tinny quality or echo. Perfect for use in the garden or - as its waterproof (I dipped it in the sink - it totally is) for use at a pool or just in the shower/ bath. The controls are simple - volume, power and track skip are all managed by the big blue buttons, and connecting is a cinch - it just links up by itself - and I was able to connect it to my phone, echo dot, laptop and a friends phone individually. My only criticisms are the design is a bit cartoony looking with the big kid friendly buttons and completely pointless tag, but the major one is the charging set up - in theory you pull a bung off the base and plug the incorporated micro usb in to the mains, an adapter or a laptop to etc charge. In practice, the bungs (because theres two) are a herculean struggle to remove - I nearly ripped a nail clean away from the bed trying to get the base bung off, and in the end had to use pliers which damaged the seal. Its SO tightly packed on its unreal. Granted this is to ensure its waterproof, but its a nightmare to remove unless you have an iron grip or a toolkit. Also the "incorporated" cable isnt actually incorporated. Its just housed loose in the void hidden by the bung. A much better design solution would have been to have a small easily removable rubber plug over the charging port, and the cable provided separately (given any micro usb will charge it, I wouldnt even have minded it not being included, as I dont know who wouldnt have a cable or 12 kicking around the house these days)That part aside though, for the sound and price its great.. If you dont need a waterproof one though, I would recommend the Double Down version probably more than I would this one

JAM seem like a relatively new player in the audio device industry and they're clearly trying to a mark with affordable, design-led products. This speaker is, in a word: cute. It's small, friendly looking, and easy to use. It's a coke can sized cylinder of rubbery plastic and rough weave fabric. Not quite pocketable, but certainly baggable. The different materials create a nice juxtaposition in textures that I'd like to feel in more electronics. Even the noises the Chill makes when pairing, switching on, and switching off are cute blips reminiscent of rotund star wars robots. Pairing is simple and quick - no pairing codes needed. The O and X buttons appear to be a JAM branding exercise, but they also make for intuitive controls: click to increase/decrease volume, hold to skip forward or back a track. All you really need in a simple bluetooth speaker.Another nice touch is the included hideaway for the cable. It charges with micro-usb, like everything else, so it's unlikely you'll be without a place to charge it in 2018.With such a small size there's an inevitable tradeoff in sound quality. It isn't bad. I'd argue that it's at the very least better than most laptop speakers, and definitely better than any phone speaker I've heard, justifying its inclusion for mobile media use. You won't get truly thumping bass or detailed treble, but it's adequate for filling a small space with music and it can get quite loud without noticeable distortion. Unfortunately, I only have one of the speakers at the moment so I couldn't test the stereo pairing - an interesting concept given how most bluetooth speaker systems are mono by nature.Overall, this is a likeable speaker that offers decent but not exceptional sound quality in a clever and attractive chassis.

Out of the box, the unit is small, lightweight and has a nice appearance. Being a man, I discarded the instructions and started to hunt for the charging port. Soon gave up on that and conceded I needed the instructions after all. Turned out the whole base plate pops off, with some force, to reveal the charging port and supplied cable.UsabilityThe thing only appears to have two buttons. After going back to the instructions, it turns out the line which separates the two buttons, is also a button! This secret button turned out to be the power, so kind of important. Anyways, once the learning curve was over the speaker powered on and paired with ease. Set the output to maximum volume, then played some music from my phone. Winner. Every time since it just automatically connected with no fuss.SoundAgain, this is my first Bluetooth speaker. I would say the sound for the size of the unit is good, but not excellent. I’m personally very happy with the quality using it for football commentary and music. If you turn the volume to max, on both device and speaker it will distort. Knock it back a couple of notches and you’re in the sweet spot.Party trick.Well it’s water proof / resistant. It’s great in the bathroom, kids love the music when in the bath. Nice to leave the expensive, non-water proof smart phone out of the danger zone.SummarySmall, light, compact, water proof, long battery life, reliable and decent sound. If only they added a dedicated power button. Would recommend.

We have been using this for around two weeks now and really like it.On arrival, the rubber seal on the front had come off but was easily replaced. I did however find it very difficult to remove the seal on the bottom where the charger is located, anyone with dexterity issues etc would struggle with this. It has however eased with use. I do love the fact that the charger cable can be stored inside the bottom of the speaker, really useful feature. The speaker itself is a nice compact size, small enough to take out and about easily but the small size does not compromise sound quality. It has a good volume range. The battery life is excellent- we charged it when it arrived, have used it a lot and we haven't yet had to charge it again. The buttons on the front are simple enough that my kids can use it easily. Unlike other Bluetooth devices, we have had no connection issues; connects easily and stays connected. Overall I am really happy with this and would recommend it. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

We have used Bluetooth speakers previously, but this little gem was a great find. It is compact, the cables are stored in the base, and for its size, there is excellent sound quality. Great battery life and slick design makes this my favourite speaker to use in the garden or on the beach with the kids... although I’m sure my neighbours are maybe sick of inch wincy spider and head, shoulders, knees and toes. The blue tab is a nice design feature and I can use it to hook up out of reach so the little ones can’t reach it. Not sure that’s what it’s meant for but I find it useful.OverLl really pleased with this product. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

For some who loves music and traveling. Wireless speakers are an absolute must have and Double Chill wireless speakers were great. The Bluetooth connection was easy to set up and was working well when my was at a pretty fat distance. The battery life was great made life easy when being on holiday and spending alot of time listening to music on the beach and not having to worry about wires and cables. The size is perfect and easy to place in your bag and not heavy making it easy to travel around with.I’m very pleased with this product and would definitely be recommending it to my other music loving friends. I am really happy with my double chill speaker; the sound is great, it is compact and easy to use and to transport (I especially love that all the necessary wires are integrated & compacted into the speaker itself - no more searching for the right cable to charge and connect!) very easy to operate - connect via Bluetooth & then use the speaker or your device to control. large buttons on front of speaker to control at ease - even my 10 year old can work it without any instruction. Perfect little speaker for out and about to take on holiday !! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Having had my Bose speaker thrown in a pool by my toddler this was the next best thing I found. We can now really chill.. I love that it’s water proof and dust proof making it ideal for taking on holidays. Did I mention it is also relatively light. And for the price you pay, the quality is also good. Pretty easy to connect and control. Would definitely recommend [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

This is a great sounding speaker with nice defined bass and louder than other speakers of its size as its 5watts not the usual 3w. The price is great value . The negatives are it's nearly impossible to open semi circle section to get to drive lead through . Even using a spanner etc was difficult. Not sure what happened in design stage but it's a common fault apparently.

Fabulous sound from this little speaker! Obviously made by a high quality manufacturer. The greatest thing about it is that, when using music from the phone, your phone rings through the speaker and you can answer it through the speaker without any fuss the music is paused. This Jam speaker will be used daily for great sounding music. A great buy

This bluetooth speaker is great for travelling and days out. It's solidly built, could easily withstand a drop and has a decent sound for it's size. The charging cable is stored in it's base, but it is a little short so you might want to get some form of extension cable to allow it to be used while plugged in. Good buy for the price.

I did not expect that so small a device could have such an amazing sound - loud volume, sharp tonal quality and also with a very long battery charge. Brilliant, just brilliant. Since receiving it, we've been using it nearly every day. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

i didn't expect much when this came because it was relatively cheap and a small speaker, but the sound is great. with it also being small it means it's easily portable. it was easy to connect to my phone as well. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
